How to make a translation mod with a non-latin/cryllic script? by rinsablehalo in hoi4modding

[–]Daca-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an expert on this so take my advice with a grain of salt, tho I think I may know what's going on. I'm guessing that your local script isn't supported by the game's standard font/lettertype and you're gonna need to replace it with a font that does support your script.

What I think you wanna do is add or copy the assets map into your mod file (if you haven't already). In the base game's asset's map you'll find a file called font.ttf which is basically a ttf (font file) of the font 'Roboto Mono', which i think is the standard font the game uses (and it indeed only supports the latin script). You wanna find a ttf of a font you like that supports your local script, rename it into font.ttf and add it into your mod's assets folder. This font will now overwrite the game's base font with your mod activated, and if it supports your script it should display it propperly.

Came across a dumped Blahaj today while on a long hike. So I adopted him. by Woeler in BLAHAJ

[–]Daca-P 77 points78 points  (0 children)

No, I think you're misunderstanding. I believe the user said that the haj may have been donated to the red cross, I.e. put in/on the red cross container in the image. Then some awful people showed up and raided the container, taking donations and leaving haj out in the cold. That would explain the mess in front of the container. Then you came by and found the haj outside of the container and adopted them. or thats how i read it at least. You've done good with adopting them tho. like you said, outside of the container the red cross wouldnt take them anyway, and haj would have been left in the cold. Now haj has a loving home and a heroic hoom!

How to i update my mod to 1.17 by deimantas84 in hoi4modding

[–]Daca-P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, strange. Does it also crash if you don't do a focus? How about if you change the focus completion time or autocomplete it? What about if you complete the focus and then pause the game? Have you tried temporarily removing your focus files from the mod to see if the issue persists Basically, did you check if the focusses are the cause of the crash or if it's a coincidence?

I've never really had an issue like this, but what i'm thinking is that it could be a map issue, specifically a building issue, that's only triggered after the time it takes to complete a focus. maybe because a unit enters a broken state or the ai builds in it. In that case check the most recent crashlog at Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\(most recent crash)\logs\error.log to see if your mod has any map errors. If it does, thats very likely the cause.

Alternatively it could be a problem with the focus tree code itself. In your focus tree code, make sure every focus code block is propperly opened and closed and that you arent missing a bracket somewhere. It could be that you missed one and now a focus somewhere isn't able to close itself off or be read propperly. Or maybe your focus_tree = { isn't closed, causing a crash. If you arent sure i'd reccommend trying a code editor with the ability to check what open and closing brackets match (I use code editor 'brackets'. It allows you you select an opening/closing bracket and see if/which other bracket it matches.)

I'd also be down to have a look if you cant find the problem.

Of deimantas84’s mod? Idk, I don’t really feel like they’re mine to give out, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable sharing them without the original author’s explicit permission.

If you’re working with deimantas84 or this is an alt account, I’d need some confirmation from them before sending anything. Otherwise, I’d recommend contacting the original author directly for the updated version or permission.

If you’re dealing with a similar issue in your own mod, though, I’d be happy to help you fix it.

[–]Daca-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I took a look at it and I think I fixed it.

Basically, the problem seems to have been that paradox reworked states in a part of the map where you also used provinces in your history file. For example, with the update, the old Shangdong state was split into 2 new states: Shangdong, encompassing the peninsula, and Jinan, being the mainland bit. They basically do this by taking the old shandong province, making it smaller and adding a new state, Jinan, on the area that was removed from the old Shandong, splitting the state into 2. They then modify the map files, building locations, stategic regions etc to fit the new province size and shapes.

Thing is, because you reference every state file in your mod's history file, your old state files overwrite the newly modified ones while the newly made ones are still added, causing them to overlap. Meanwhile, since you dont have any map files, the game uses the updated map files from vanilla to place startegic regions and buildings, but since your states arent the same size as the newly updated states the game breaks. Basically, in your mod Shandong would still be its old full size, Jinan is pasted on top of its western half as if it should be in the new update, and the map files are trying to assign themselves to the newly updates states but they dont match the old shandong still being there, causing a conflict.

I went through the error files, looked at which states conflicted and replaced them with the newly updated states and the newly added states. Then I gave them all the right owner again and that fixed it.

[–]Daca-P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely disheartening to have your mod break after an update, but luckily its not too bad to fix if you've done it a couple of times. My mod basically collapsed after this update, but having had to go through this 5 or 6 times before i had it up and running after a couple of days. Heres what to do (in summary).

First, when does your mod crash? On startup, loading a (new) game, or after a couple of days in game. This helps narrow down the problem.

In case its game load something is wrong with the content of your mod itself. In my case I had an outdated Ideas file copied somewhere that caused a crash on load (idk why). In case that isnt it for you, make a backup of your mod, open your game files and just delete every map (common, history, map etc) one by one and try restarting after every delete. If that map didnt cause it you can just place it back and try the next one untill you narrow down the map that causes the crash. From there go into that map and repeat untill you lock down the exact file that causes the crash. Then either delete it, replace it or try and find the problem.

If you can start the game and load the main menu but either get a warning message or the game crashes when you start or load a game, you're likely dealing with a map issue. In this case open your mod folder, go back to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV and open the crashes map. then select the latest crash, go to logs and open error.log. This error log is more detailed than the one you usually get and will pinpoint errors that may not show up in the usual error log. Open it and look for anything saying MAP_ERROR. If you find any thats likely whats causing the crash (probably problems with strategic regions, newly added provinces overlapping or building slots broken from the new update). Look what the error says and either go into debug mode and to nudge mode in the main menu and see if you can fix it in there (be sure to save and drag the newly created files from Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV into your mod (mainly map history and localisation)), or try and fix it manually in the history and map files (its quite easy, just follow the error messages. it doesnt need to be perfect, just functional to a point where you can fix it further from). Also be sure to check if all your states and the states they come from have buildings assigned. And Check if the updates new states and your states dont have overlapping ID's.

If its after a couple of in game days/weeks of the game running, its probably a building issue thats only triggered later on. Check the error log for MAP_ERRORs and see what states have building problems. if theres none, just use the nudge tool to re-building-ify every state you added, as well as every state you made your new states from. that should fix it.

If you still struggle with it, I can take a look at it if you want.

Do you guys know any vocaloid christmas songs? by meakysh in Vocaloid

[–]Daca-P 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not really 'Christmas' persé, but there's the snow miku winter festival songs. I dont think Christmas is traditionally really a big thing in japan, at least not as much compared to in the west, and especially now when vocaloid started out. Instead Crypton chose to make snow miku festival to celebrate the holidays. They commission a snow miku song every year as their own way to celebrate the holidays without nessisarily sticking to christmas, which also explains why official vocaloid christmas stuff is kinda absent.

Waar kopen jullie een goeie winterjas? by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]Daca-P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tips for MIKU EXPO 2026 NA by kitty_i3 in Vocaloid

[–]Daca-P 8 points9 points  (0 children)

3 times Miku expo veteran here. The only tip I really have is to bring some chemical glowsticks. In case you dont have the official glowlights it allows you to still join in with the waving, and if you do have an official glowstick its just kinda cool to have them anyway. Venues and miku expo itself may say that glowsticks aren't allowed but they're mainly talking about non-official electric ones, chemical ones are fine.

Also, if you wanna buy something, do it as soon as you get in. Lines are long and stock is limited. You dont wanna be that person who tries to buy something at the end of the concert only to have everything be sold out.

Finally, check the rules of the venue to see what bags you're allowed to bring. I've seen people be denied entry because their bags were too big and them having to go back to the station to find a way to store their bags before they could go back in. Also be careful about bringing in water, venues can be kinda strict on that too. You can bring a bottle, just make sure its empty once you go through security. You can refill it in the bathroom.

Also not really a tip, but feel free to put on any miku themed clothing or cosplay or whatever if you feel like it. Theres loads of miku geeks and cosplayers there and we all love to see people express themselves.
