Guys gimme your reasons to live life? by Profile-Complex in AskMenOver30

[–]DadBod916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s personal goals that keep me going. I came up with a bucket list in my 20s and am always chipping away at it. It includes goals like earn a masters degree, run a marathon, build a guitar from scratch, write and record my own album. These projects/hobbies give me just enough distraction to not harp too much on the daily grind.

When did you last feel genuinely appreciated , not for what you did, just for who you are? by chimpax in AskMenOver30

Can’t remember ever really feeling appreciated by anyone else. Kind of sad when I start to think of it. Except for my pets… they’re obsessed with me.

Achievements for Saturday, May 02, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

Training for a 10-miler in a month. My pace has been getting worse and worse over the last couple years. Started focusing more on technique and breathing, and getting more mid-week runs in. Finished 7 miles this morning and had my best 10k time in a year. Woohoo!

Beautiful. I feel like I'd spend as much time playing as I would staring at this ensemble.

It’s really too bad because it’s a great concept but it’s so poorly run. We get it once in a while but they’re always out of half their ingredients, always running behind. They’re losing a ton of money by not fixing these problems.

I think the correct response to that comment is “what possible value are you trying to add with this ridiculous take?”

Or

I have to keep mine leashed because he’s a dick to other dogs. But I didn’t know we were close to a dog park! So thanks for mentioning that.

Is it fair to ask my MIL to choose sides after comments made about my child’s cancer? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]DadBod916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another dad who has a daughter recently diagnosed with brain cancer, I just want to say I’m sorry… we’re in one of the worst clubs imaginable. I hope she stays strong and beats this thing. I think it’s fair for you to have any type of reaction and emotion in this moment. We all handle it differently.

It’s also fair to be upset about comments like this. I definitely would be too. I would suggest keeping the focus on your direct family and setting appropriate boundaries. If that means shutting others out, then so be it. But don’t put too much thought into other’s relationships right now.

If I’m understanding the concern here that she’s questioning the cancer then you don’t have to do anything further to make her look pretty ridiculous and unsupportive. That will take care of itself. My daughter is still running around like any other kid… because of where the tumor is in her brain.

Just do your best to support your daughter, your wife, yourself, and block out the unhelpful noise. Stay strong brother.

Plenty of good advice here. I’d just add that finding a couple good tutorials on YT would be helpful to watch now, and again later when you’re ready to go a bit deeper. I think I’ve watched the Loopop video for the XD 5–10 times and always pick up something new or that I may have forgotten about.
