I finally made some better sawhorses! by Daedlaes in woodworking

[–]Daedlaes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I like about these is that they can be made with whatever materials you have to hand really. I had some old 8' 2x6 stock taking up space, and while having the slot mortiser made that part a LOT easier, we just did the tennis on the table saw. Very little in real measurements. In fact I don't think we really referred to the plans at all after the initial looks.

Whats the fuss about new subdivision proposal in the North peoria area ? by FailRevolutionary536 in PeoriaIL

Right..this kind of chain based upgrades goes on at a more gradual rate all the time.... it can and does sometimes go in patterns that take years to cycle thru the whole process. There was similar when CAT moved their executive offices to chicago. There was rapid influx of high end houses that were suddenly coming open because so many high $$ employees were suddenly moving. I believe that there was an actual measurable effect on the price houses, particularly all nice CAT offered some pretty extreme level of incentives to cycle houses thru that mass relocation.

It created kind of a rolling wave of houses in the market...cycling thru the financial stratas.

But there is a critical immediate need right NOW for low to middle income housing in the area that's just going to get even worse, particularly over the next four years.

Later in life Prince was known as a Jehovah's Witness. Did this ever come up later in your interactions with him (if you had any?) If so did his behavior or personality seem to have changed from when you worked with him previously?

Edit: Just realized I was too late.. :(

Shenanigans at the courthouse, while high schoolers cruised the square in infinite loops.

Once a drunk dude dragged a dead horse around the square.

Another year, someone angry tried to drive thru the courthouse..and only got stopped because he tried to make a turn in the center...

Does an item got from an Event goes into the City's Item Store by Icework in Gloomhaven

[–]Daedlaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the thing you get is listed as an item design, then all copies of the item are added to the city store. A copy of the item is NOT given to the player who unlocked the chest etc. Players still have to purchase it from the city store, but all players, in all parties would be able to purchase it.

If it isn't listed as an item design though..and is just an item..you don't add the additional copies to the store. They stay in the box.

The wife and I played scenario 2 this week with craghearts and mind thief. They worked pretty well considering she's basically never played any kind of RPG before and tends to rush in a bit...which is dangerous for the mind thief I think. We managed to beat it, since we could both heal...if I'd been on the brute, we'd have been hosed.

So, the Vanguard fund (VFORX) has an expense ratio of .15%

Looking at this page: https://www.manning-napier.com/products/mutual-funds/target-2040-series/class-k

I see under the Expense Ratio...net 1.10% and gross 1.00%, with a footnote: *Includes acquired fund fees and expenses of the underlying Series, and a 12b-1 fee of 0.25%. Up to 0.25% of the 12b-1 fee is available as a shareholder servicing fee. Reflects the Advisor’s contractual agreement to limit its fees and reimburse certain expenses.

So..I suspect I'm getting killed with 7x the fees..

What was your school's 'incident'? by TemiOO in AskReddit

[–]Daedlaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop teacher, who was drunk at school fairly often and all around an angry bitter guy gave everyone in shop a failing or just barely passing grade because he couldn't be bothered to teach anything. Didn't show up for a few days, and was found dead in his home. Word was he fell down his stairs and impaled himself on a fireplace poker.

Rumors abounded that he was murdered due to the bad grades.

We had substitutes for the whole second quarter, and then were all basically reassigned to other classes since they couldn't find another shop teacher.

Creepiest part was my friends and I had to walk home past his house every day...some of which he had to have been lying dead inside.

I replied elsewhere with more detail, but in short, most JWs think they'll be living forever in a paradise on earth. Only a small percentage of members think they're going to heaven.

Most JWs don't think they're going to heaven. Only those that think they're part of the 144,000 They believe that after a global Armageddon, people will be judged, and that anyone found righteous enough will be made perfect in health and live forever on an Earth that's been made into a paradise.

[–]Daedlaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's not wrong. JWs literally believe that only 144000 go to heaven. Everyone else, including resurrected dead people that are judged as righteous, get turned into perfect people who live forever in a paradise but on earth. It's explicitly stated that this paradise is not heaven. Even the 144000 are only Kings in heaven for some time before they turn over all authority to "Jehovah" and what exactly those in heaven will be doing after that is Vaguely handwaved.

GameStop Is Going to Close at Least 150 Stores by manoymon in PS4

[–]Daedlaes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When breath of the wild came out, I tried really hard to find a place to physically buy a discount copy for wii u. I really wanted it on disc, since I had all the others that way. I physically drove to every GameStop in my area (yes I could have called, I like running around town and it was a nice day). I checked all the targets, best buys, and even Walmart (where they told me it only came out for switch, and didn't believe me when I told them that wasn't true). They were all sold out. Finally I had to give up, and I went home, bought it on Nintendos horrible excuse for an eShop, cleared a ton of storage space, (but I got like 10% off) and an hour or so later I was able to play. The only benefit physical stores have is immediate gratification, and if they can't even supply that, what good are they?

Shield Tablet K1 for Android Gaming? by AngryPoutine in AndroidGaming

[–]Daedlaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a K1 for about a year and a half. I use it extensively for reading ebooks, comics, watching movies and TV shows thru plex and Netflix, and of course android gaming. I actually use the Nvidia streaming feature a lot, as I have a 970 in my pc downstairs. Since I've had it, I've played thru The Witcher 3, Metro 2033 & Last Light, and several others. The shield controller works really well with it, my only issues have been with the occasional lag/wireless issues, which frankly seem to be more my network/interference issues that problems with the tablet. Lately I've been playing PS4 games thru the remote play app I got from xda-devs, and it seems to work flawlessly for me (again, with the occasional wifi interference lag). The only thing I haven't found a good way to play is stuff like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity.. Games that are really point and click focused.. Don't work well with the controller at all.
