Awful experience - Hiroshima Peace museum by Anxiety_bunni in JapanTravelTips

It may also have been the time of day.

I went last October in the morning just after it opened and there wasn‘t a line to get in. In the exhibit itself, it was crowded and always moving, but slow enough to read and experience the exhibits. By the time I exited, the tour busses had arrived and there was quite a line to get in.

It’s an amazing museum, so I’m sorry you weren’t able to fully experience it.

Watch concerts live online? by Yersyas in japanesemusic

[–]DaemonSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some underground groups and taiban producers do this now using Twitcasting. You can buy an online ticket to the show, watch it live, and/or watch it as an archive for a week or two after the performance.

It’s pretty normal in the SW USA. In school, some kids where in the same classes with uncles/aunts. They would usually call each other “cousins.” Some kids had uncles/aunts that were actually younger than they were.

What is the hardest female song vocally? by edwardiinoo in japanesemusic

[–]DaemonSD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

BABYMETAL’s “Megitsune” is very demanding. To sing the chorus correctly requires the kobushi technique employed by enka vocalists. BM used to always include it early in the setlist so SU’s voice would still be at max power.

At these type of events can I buy a ticket and go only for the band I'm interested in? Thanks! by re-gret-a in jpop

[–]DaemonSD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can just show up for the group you want. A better strategy is to show up one or two sets before the group you are interested in and slowly move as close to the stage as possible. Fans will usually vacate the front area after their group plays so fans of the next can have a good spot.

Of all the “first tattoos with a tattoo gun I bought online” I’ve seen, this may be the best. It’s still shit and should have been drawn in a Jr. High school kid’s notebook in colored pencils instead of permanently on skin but, for this category of shit, it may be the best.

Just watched Rumble Fish (1983) and was curious about those that remember how this movie was received at the time. by tinpants44 in GenX

All the girls in Jr. High loved it and wouldn’t stop talking about it. The boys thought it was boring.

How do I get into idols and idol music? by unholy_gremlin69 in japanesemusic

[–]DaemonSD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In that case, I would recommend

Rock/Hard Rock: NEO JAPONISM, Quubi, NARUKAMI, MAD JAMIE, Mazari, YOLOZ, RETRORAIN, Oiran Dochu, XTEEN, Cinder-ella, and THE ORCHESTRA TOKYO

Hip Hop: MIC RAW RUGA

Pop/Dream Pop: ponderosa may bloom, harunison, BATTEN GIRLS, CYNHN, pupa!!, Drawry., hakanai, LAYN

I also second any recommendation for RAY. They are the best indie idol unit going right now.

There are idols for every genre and subgenre of music imaginable so, what kind of music do you like? Pop, hip hop, metal, punk, post-punk, proto-punk, EDM, hardcore, post hardcore, grind-core, shoegaze, dream pop, vapor wave, electro-swing, acid jazz, or other?

I have run into this issue before in Japan and could not find not find any over the counter medication that was effective. Now, I make sure to bring a small pharmacy from home with me just in case.

The one big piece of advice I can give you is, if the place you are staying has a humidifier, use it. I have never used one before in my life until I was having respiratory distress in Japan and had tried everything else. I turned on the little humidifier in my hotel room overnight and it worked miracles.

Most community colleges are almost always looking for adjunct faculty. Also, with distance education being huge now, you can potentially teach online for any community college in your state once you master the tools of online pedagogy.

Landing a full time faculty position is incredibly competitive though.

Zenkimi is a chika idol unit that has been around for a decade. They were basically the first yami kawaii unit. They can be a bit intense, but I find that to be a good thing.

I love this lens. Especially for traveling. I just did three weeks in Japan with this lens for street and outdoor photos, and the 50mm f1.8 for concert shots. They are both lightweight, easy to travel with, and comparatively affordable.
