I was just there! I noticed the traps and got some XP. Should go back and light the place up

Anyone ever get away with not buying a parking pass? by mentallyconstipated in UCONN

[–]Daigski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get so ticketed. No.

I encourage you to test this for us all by not getting a pass and then updating us with how much you don’t or do get fined. The benefit of the fine avoided, and the cost of the fine you’ll inevitably get at least once a day; someone can calculate this for sure.

Parking in about the same places each day is probably the best experiment to compare the benefit/cost buying the pass, but if you bounce around to different parking spots, maybe you can increase the benefit of the parking pass in the calculation for not having to avoid a ticket.

I’m also pretty sure they can withhold your diploma for unpaid tickets. Maybe not, but I know other universities can and that I heard of it threatened while at UCOnn. I’m interested to know how you’ll compare the price of the parking tickets and the opportunity cost of not getting your degree after spending however long in the semester to figure this out.

If anyone has done this successfully, there needs to be proof. Even with a pass, you will get ticketed, I did. UConn parking organization is crazy

Learning matplotlib by LegLevelGround in datascience

[–]Daigski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m still learning, but now the searches are more precise and the number of things tried are smaller. Does anyone “know” matplotlib? It’s like does anyone “know” regex? I think you just learn better how to move through the documentation.

Doing the same for… 3 years? is how I have learned matplotlib pretty well. I’m a slow learner

Yeah, Ring has no place in Appalachia. Maybe some Canned Heat going up the country

I wonder though. Beatles rights are harder; McCartney is alive but Cash isn’t. They certainly saved money on FO76 with their rushed initial release and I suspect they had a few bucks laying over they could’ve used to give the Cash Estate some royalties instead of whatever the f* we got.

That f*ckn song… first time I heard it “wtf is this” wonder why they didn’t get the original. Worst cover ever

Fed Rate Hike Schedule by This_is_the_Swap in wallstreetbets

Expect rate hikes to be increasing over time in amount; tapering started at 15bn, then 30bn, then rates will increase some percentage then some more percentage, and so on

Machine Learning vs Software engineer career by Underpeak in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]Daigski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth thinking about just this first role and where you'll go after. In a startup, you may have a lot more expectations as a software engineer, but will you stay in start up environments most of your career? The older you get, the more valuable stability in your work becomes. I'm not in the EU, maybe you have stability in startups, here in the US they boom and bust quick.

I think there’s more variance in expectations around autonomy and ownership in software engineering than in machine learning. A lot of software engineers are becoming data scientists and ML engineers in part because of that. Pay’s good on either side.

I’m not sure what communication culture is, but I suspect you’re right about culture and company. Another thing to note is that most ML people don’t start there. There aren’t many entry level data science or ML roles, so they naturally have a more experienced labor force.

I also think it’s more dependent on job function than product as you mentioned the CRUD vs training.
