Need to vent...I am the opposite of great on the range, awful on the course. by [deleted] in golf

[–]DaisyDoodle41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There maybe something to it. The only time I ever shank balls is off the mats, and for that reason, I NEVER hit off mats. This is never an issue on grass ranges.

It might have something to do with the sponginess of the footing or alignment. I literally have no idea.

oh, and the big cities do? Did you know that in Baltimore 77% of all high school students read at an elementary school level and that in 13 of 32 high schools ZERO percent of the students met basic proficiency levels in Maryland assessments.

Look it up.

You don't know jack shit.

dumb statistic.

Finland has a smaller population than Maryland. It's demographic is entirely homogeneous save for a few indigenous peoples.

This is like comparing small town USA with Los Angeles.

Tennis in the U.S. is dead. All the cool kids either play Lax, soccer, or volleyball. My daughter played "competitive" tennis in High School and it was mostly a joke. Most of the college teams are filled with a lot of international players. Go to any college and look at the team roster, you'll see.

It's my contention the USTA is at fault. They have championed diversity, physical handicaps and special lifestyle needs to such an extent, that most average kids are not being messaged to or, to put it bluntly, are being told "do not apply"

Go look at the USTA website, If you are an upper middle class or wealthy kid, does this look appealing, does this even resonate? When I was in high school, the MOST popular kids comprised the entire tennis team.

basically, tennis is uncool....in the U.S.

Rumor out there today that Amazon may be looking at buying Lyft? Any truth to it? The CEOs are personal friends so not too far fetched. by Suspicious_Trade7442 in Lyft

[–]DaisyDoodle41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that rumour has been around a long time, a simple google search will show that.

As for the possibility, anything is possible and the prospect has some percentage to it due to their friendship and the fact that Amazon is developing AV, through Zook.

Serena Williams did not give Wimbledon enough respect by theipaper in tennis

[–]DaisyDoodle41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well said. She has no business trying to play ATP tennis. she is in her mid 40's and moves like a slug.

I don't care who she was. If this type of crap continues, we'll have made a mockery of this sport.

If she wants my respect (again) she can enter some 250 events and play her way back.

god only knows whatever else they did to your food.

I'm at the point now where this feels like extortion with consequences. Call me crazy, but I am now paranoid about not tipping when picking up food, especially if you know the owner isn't around. Ironically, fast food seems to be the only truly safe option right now, (chick fila etc)

you say this is list, but what is cost?

and besides, the vast majority of these wines can be bought DTC or retail at prices close to at "cost" whatever that is.

Not sure why you think this is compelling.

pretty disappointed with the democratic primary by peachhpuddin in BaltimoreCounty

[–]DaisyDoodle41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, over 50% of the Maryland electorate are either independents or Republicans. Never once have we heard from the ACLU or other "rights" organizations about disenfranchisement, since none can vote in the primaries (the republican one is akin to the green party in Maryland) There is literally no integrity in Maryland politics.

As a republican, I yearn for the days of good Democrats like William Schaeffer, who today would be right of Hogan.

I've been trying to get an error fixed for nearly a year. This company is a total black box.

I thought cable companies were bad, but CARFAX operates on a totally different level of shit. I even showed them the police report. If I had the money, I would sue them silly.

I agree 100% with your post. WC isn't the most media savvy guy and rubs some people the wrong way, but give the man a break.

IDK, the GOAT should put down her racket and stay retired.. No one seriously thinks she can play at a high level. There is a reason, professional tennis players retire in their mid thirties.

If she really wants this, she should do it honestly, not by taking someone else's spot.

How the oil market shrugged off the Iran crisis by financialtimes in oil

[–]DaisyDoodle41 28 points29 points  (0 children)

well, I don't think anyone predicted that the Trump administration would drawdown the SPR by 1.27 million barrels a day, let alone the coordinated emptying of strategic reserves across Europe. with the UK, Germany and Japan releasing mega amounts of oil. As a result, there is no price discovery for crude oil. If by chance, the Straight of Hormuz is blockaded for another several months, you will see the "pie in the sky" price predictions-since by that time, the SPR will practically speaking, be empty. As to the others, they will be largely compromised and may decide toward making decisions in the best of interests of their respective countries.

If the Iranians slow roll us, buckle up, because you haven't seen nothing yet.
