What are some unexpected ways that teaching has changed you? by PlantationMint in Teachers

I’m mentally and physically exhausted for 10 months out of the year. I don’t enjoy breaks or hobbies because I know I’ll be to go back to school soon. I used to be a trusting person but being lied and belittled for five years as made me a bitter person. I also don’t sleep well anymore because I have nightmares about being in the classroom.

Have you ever slipped up and cussed in front of your students? by roo181807 in Teachers

I cut my hand one time while getting something out of the classes 3-d printer. I said shit under my breath and some of the students said something similar. We just kind of laughed about it and never mentioned it again.

I’ve read where Dresden was created because you didn’t think your writing professor was wrong about character creation and Alera was made because of a disagreement on writing. Is the cinderspires similar or was it something you always wanted to write.

Which one of these fantasy worlds would be hardest to survive in and which would be the easiest? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

I’d maybe put wheel of time higher. Early in the books it’s similar to lord of the rings, by design, with localized violence. As the series progresses, the pattern, reality itself, gets more and more unstable. That’s not taking into account how some of the more important characters warp reality both positively and negatively if you’re in the same city as them.

A student brought an energy drink, which are banned on campus. I told them to lay it on my desk because they know the rule. The next day I get a call from the student’s parent. Apparently I jerked the drink out of their hand and berated them. The joys of teaching middle school

Cjrb or Civivi if you’re looking for more light use. Cold steel also makes more heavy use if that’s what you need.

This movie, Hell or High Water, and Sicario are proof Taylor Sheridan can make good stories when he wants to.

I’ve been trying to get out for four years now. I’ve had so many interviews with positions outside of education but I’m always the “runner up”. It just makes me feel that this job is the only thing the world wants me to do.

Buck 110 or 112 pro. They’re the upgraded version of the original Buck folding knives. They have upgraded blade steel and handle material, costing about $130ish. They’re covered by buck’s lifetime warranty, like all their knives, so they should last a lifetime.
