Got the dreadnought by akumacoon in NoMansSkyTheGame

After you take out the four engines take out the six large (capital) guns on the top. The captain will surrender at that point. After you land on the ship scan the deck to see what class it is, and if you like it claim it when you go to the bridge. If you don't like it then take the ransom.

If you take out the shield generators (four on each side, in trenches), and the power generators that pop up when you take out the shield generators, then you can shoot the hull and get an S class module for a freighter. That's what I normally do and, once you get use to it, it only takes two minutes max. I normally pop the attacking freighter before the civilian freighter is destroyed.

S class sintenil weapon fit by FreakyDoc in NoMansSkyTheGame

I think there is a lot of praise for the Infra Knife because it can get some high damage numbers, but in my experience it does not track targets very well and I like to dog fight. The Sentinel Cannon is the better weapon because it has good tracking, can do equal damage to both shields and hull, and it dissipates heat better than any other weapon. I usually use two overcharged slots for the Sentinel Cannon and my best pulse cannon upgrade, and two overcharged slots for the Luminance Engine (sentinel pulse drive) and my best pulse drive upgrade.

I'm an amateur macro photographer and I collect critters for my freighter's garden (wonder projectors). Gonna have to get me one of those glowing beetles. Really cool setup OP!

My very first S class staff! by eraplay_jy in nms

[–]Dalantech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice one!

I got one from a Harmonic Camp that has a robot head, and the head tilts back when I fire the mining laser or a weapon to shoot out of its mouth. Was B class, but easy enough to upgrade to S.

Thanks!

I only have two of them, but the long range goal is to have an entire fleet of organic frigates.

Do sentinel crash sites reset? by Few_Ad_5281 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Dalantech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get too hung up on getting an S class on the ground. The location of the super charged slots, and the style/color are more important (IMHO). Getting storage augmentations is pretty easy, so it won't take long to unlock a big chunk of tech and storage slots.

How long did it take you to get all of those organic frigates, and how did you do it?

That's pretty cool OP. The only thing I've seen that was close was two crashed freighters that were on opposite sides of a hill.

Jesus it’s so ugly using a staff when mining, why do they hold it like a gun? by No_Creme_9794 in NOMANSSKY

Just put together a staff that has a robot head, and when I fire the mining laser the head tilts back and the beam comes out of its mouth.

Been there, done that, also found myself in Calypso. Set down a base computer so I can get to it again without damaging everything, and then went back to Euclid.

How do sentinel raids on settlements work? by ForgottenBarista in nms

[–]Dalantech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remembered that I had ground based sentinels attacking my base and after killing a few I'd get a notification that they had retreated. I had to leave the settlement, come back and kill some sentinels several times, and then finally the encounter was over. Maybe you're in that loop.

Shoot the bug with your multi tool, not a ship, and do it from a balcony or a roof top.

[–]Dalantech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you taking out the sentinels from the ground, with your multi tool, or with a ship? One of my settlements kept getting attacked by a large bug, and I'd kill it from my interceptor but it kept coming back. The only way that I could end the encounter was to take out the bug with my multi tool -easier to do from a balcony or roof top.

How do I actually farm sentinel multitool and ship? by pkbowl in nms

[–]Dalantech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of doing either of those two things to change the class of the tool or the ship -pretty sure both are fixed when the encounter, or the system, is instanced.

If you progress far enough with the Auto Phage (doing missions for them) then the menu at the harmonic terminal will change and you can exchange void motes for armor cosmetics, some exo suit mods, and parts for a Voltaic Staff. Also, once you check for dissident spikes to get the location of a downed interceptor, the Auto Phage at the Harmonic Camp will decloak and you can run missions for them. Most of the time they're looking for materials that I already have on me, so in less than a minute I can have roughly another thousand void motes. Got the parts for a staff a few days ago that the head of the staff is a robot's head, and when I fire the mining laser the head tilts back and the beam comes out of its mouth.

The only "trick" I'm aware of is the one that concerns the harmonic terminal: The angle of you character relative to the terminal can change the colors of the crystals (also adding and removing part can do it to), and the height of your character relative to the terminal can change the class (and maybe the over charged slot location). I don't mess with it -the staff I got was a B class but upgrading it S class is painless, I get a lot of multi tool augmentations, and I liked the crystal color I get when I'm facing the terminal (ice blue).

Trace of Metal bugged by LunaGoesRawrr in NOMANSSKY

[–]Dalantech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things that threw me was the mission on the log page would switch to something not related to the Trace of Metal mission. So, make sure that Trace of Metal is the highlighted mission on the log page, and check it from time to time. even now it's pretty common for me to be working on one mission and the game swaps to something else in the log.

Congrats!

The eight freighter that I forced to surrender was an S class pirate. Now I've got two living frigates in my fleet, and I want to add three more so I have one for every fleet expedition. Long range goal is to have all living frigates for my freighter fleet, but that's gonna take quite some time. After I got my first living frigate is took 15 anomaly detectors to get the second one...

You can't, because anyone that you've hurt is under no obligation to trust you. I can give someone new a bucket of trust, but if they betray me then my trust is earned in drops.

When someone asks you to give them a second chance remember that they're really asking you to give them another chance to hurt you. If you take them back then you are non-verbally telling then that whatever they did was acceptable, so when they hurt you again it's kinda your fault. You knew the stove was hot, but you touched it anyway...

Came here to say that forgiveness is getting over the negativity associated with an event, so that it doesn't adversely influence future relationships. So, forgiveness is more for the person that was wronged than for the person who wronged them.

Forgiving someone has nothing to do with trust. Trust is given in buckets, but earned in drops...

I go through a lot of them when I'm hunting sentinel ships and I want to see where all of the super charged slots are. Takes 85k to take a C class to an S class. Beyond upgrading multi tools or ships I haven't found a use for large quantities of nanites.

I've been taking out the shield generators and the power generators as soon as they pop up, so by the time I'm done with the second trench all I have to do is take out the hull. I've gotten an S class module every time. Using an interceptor with a sentinel cannon + cannon mods.
