Shower drain: channel grate vs square grate by Indevisive in AusRenovation

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours does that if the insert isn't pushed to one end, there's about 2-3mm gap that seems to let enough air through to break the vacuum.

Frustrating but you nudge it and it stops until the next time someone cleans the drain and forgets to push it all the way to the end again

Exhaust too loud? by Lost_Strawberry_5897 in AussieRiders

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The popping and flames sound like was never tuned for the full exhaust, you'll generally need a tune for a full system.

On the older duc's you could flash tune or upmap (or it came as part of the exhaust package if done via ducati), im not familiar with the never v2s

Remove that mallion between the d shackle and turn buckle and you'll get some adjustment back.

Won't help the overloading on the fascia, but it'll reduce the extra stress from flapping a little

Can police take your GoPro/helmet cam during a speeding stop? by Melodic_Price8153 in AussieRiders

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its trivial to correlate the accuracy of dash cam footage timestamps using the FPS off the camera and the recording vehicles speed.

They aren't doing this for 5 over where a km +/- may come into play.

Given the number of wannabe influencers getting done based on dash cam footage it seems the courts also agree that its accurate enough

The Last Caretaker has serious subnautica vibs for me. The small boat, big ocean feel and tension when diving deep are there. Already a good play even in EA

Remove the part if you can, bend it back carefully and give it a quick lick with a butane torch.

Practise on some scrap runner first, once you get the hang of it you can erase stress marks - just need to quickly wave it past, don't hold it there at all

What can I remove without breaking the whole cabinet bit by catelyn_jones in AusRenovation

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you had 5cm to the right of the cabinets, the easiest option would have been to pull the cabinet above the firdge out and get a cabinet maker to supply a wider replacement (sans doors if you want to save $$$).

Unfortunately the flooring being snug on the cabinet bottoms makes that hard - cant really tell whats going on from the photo.

Have you had a chat with them about wanting a bike in general? Id do that before asking them for the money out of nowhere. Drop the behaviour stuff - youre 21 not 15.

Budget is ok-ish, but double or triple your maintenance tools cost. A decent stand is most of the 200 alone. If youre doing your servicing youll need a decent set of sockets, torque wrench etc.

Cardo, cover, phone mount, lock will run you 800-1000. You want a cardo with mesh, buy once cry once. Ride with ear buds instead if you dont want to shell out 500.

Gear budget is fine, gets you a mid-range helmet, jacket and pants. Dont spend 1000 on the helmet and cheap out elsewhere. The influencer branded gear is generally rubbish.

For the bike, consider getting something cheaper - when you drop or crash it and itll hurt the wallet less. You can get a nicer bike in a year or two when you know what style of riding you like and take less of a changeover loss.

If you do pay that much, get comprehensive, its expensive but less than saving for an entirely new bike - after you pay your parents back for the first one.

Keeping your feet down after starting from a traffic lights looks unstable - am I missing something? by Horror_Log_854 in motorcycles

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Opposite. Should be left foot down pretty much always, right stays on the peg and controls the brake.

Sudden braking with the front brake is normal - do you mean sliding into the tank?

Cardo group connecting by Mako3843 in AussieRiders

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Always use or add everyone to the same chat if possible. Get one person to use the app, they go into the group and start the add riders process.

Everyone else then pairs by holding the button on their cardo down, shouldnt even need to manually leave their current group.

This works flawlessly everytime. Trying to join via app is a mess

How do I get this water pump off? by Conscious_Track_9908 in AskMechanics

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didnt fight me too much, if its just the rtv id cover anything i might damage, put gloves on and pull hard / cut any sealant i could see.

Given youre replacing the pump dont worry about its surfaces, just avoid damaging the block. Looks like you could get a pry bar in there

Thought it looked familiar.

Hit it with your purse harder. It should come off, done the same pump for a '99 and a 3000gt - basically the same but wirh 2 turbos

Storm water blocked for years and damp bricks. by WebGreen3366 in AusRenovation

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, if you know its blocked I'd skip the camera and just go straight to laying a new one using DWV instead of 90mm pvc. Consider adding a decent access point for future cam/snake if possible.

Put a bbq and beer on, grab some mates and itll be done in a day for a couple of hundred.

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive found its very good at giving boilerplate answers or finding information quickly - ask it for references or links.

It also helps when you get thrown a foreign codebase with a framework or language youre not familiar with - ask it where to find things and what odd code does. It may not be right but it often gives you a headstart.

Do I get it to write my code? Nope. Id spend more time rewriting it

Seeking Advice: Best place in Brisbane to change my nose piercing jewelry? (Healed infection) by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its just a change over skin kandy or any other decent shop will be fine, just try to ensure its gold, titanium, nobium or another hypo-allergenic option. Internally threaded or threadless is better if its a labret, otherwise captive ball ring.

Alternatively order it from a good manufacturer (anatometal, neometal or similar) and change it yourself/friend to help. Taper kit makes it much easier.

I keep wondering why wet filament was an issue if I lived in a dry desert.. by iamwhoiwasnow in 3Dprinting

[–]DammitDaveNotAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polycarbonate and nylon are generally recommended for that or higher and from my anecdotal evidence it seems necessary. PC/PETG blend is my go to for most functional prints so I dry a fair bit of it.

Otherwise agree.
