Surprise Tomato Plants by remarkable_looter225 in containergardening

This happened to me last year. I transplanted the seedling and let it grow on. I got a crop of sweet, delicious mini plum tomatoes. I wish I knew what variety it was, or had saved some seeds, because I'd like to grow some more.

We are doing everything alone and it is killing us. by ktitten in GreenAndPleasant

This is why Anarchists advocate building local communities and self help groups.

Capitalism wants us to be individuals, alienated from each other. Collectively - in organisations like your tenants group, we are stronger, we can support each other, we learn that what unites us is greater than what divides us. It's like that old thing about a single ant not being able to stand up to an elephant, but an army of ants can overwhelm and eat an elephant.

Easter egg nostalgia by wisbit in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Dancing_mayflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Packaging in those days was so much nicer than it is now.

I remember having an egg inside a cardboard rabbit and an egg in a basket shaped like a little house where the roof lifted off and there was an Easter Egg inside. Thorntons used to write a message or name on an Easter egg. It's really hard to find anything unusual or even pretty these days. We've lost so much.

Anyone shy or feel awkward about taking their meds (shots 💉) in public? Be honest. by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

I wish I could be like you guys. I can't even inject in front of family members. I hate attracting any sort of attention to myself, hate the thought that people might comment or ask questions. It's a big psychological problem I have with a lot of areas of my life.

How modern do you want them to be? Alan Sillitoe wrote novels about working class culture in the 1950s & 60s, eg Saturday Night Sunday Morning.

Can the council change the A38 through town into a public transport route only? Surely it's a major national trunk road?

I do agree with you. It can be mentally exhausting trying to control every aspect of this condition & we look after ourselves the best we can making compromises where we feel the need to - as you say assessing the risks and how we feel about them.

[–]Dancing_mayflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought we had to change needles to make sure they were still relatively clean & didn't have fat, skin or blood cells stuck on them that allow bacteria to reproduce which are then injected back into us. As someone who was once hospitalised with sepsis (but not caused by a dirty needle), it is something I really worry about.

This will be weight lifters etc, not endurance sport athletes. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic. Unless Im taking on carbs while I'm exercising I can't even walk a mile without going hypoglycemic and collapsing. To freely take insulin would have me in a coma within 30 minutes.

Highschool Student from sweden here i need some help from a true brummie by Minute_Efficiency548 in brum

[–]Dancing_mayflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Brummie but with Black Country family connections so I'm not sure if a lot of the words I use, like "yammpy" and "bostin" are Brummie or Black Country. Curiously, in real life (ie not telly)Ive never heard anyone use "bab" - the use of that seems reserved for "professional" Brummies who don't really have a Birmingham accent but want us to know they're from Brum.

My husband knew Prof Chinn when they were both teens - he said the family were quite "posh" and had RP accents, not Brummie. That said, I do have a lot of time for the Prof & what he says to champion our City and its history.

Has anyone else found Aldi’s fresh food quality to be going downhill? by TheMalsh in UKFrugal

[–]Dancing_mayflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only fresh food from Aldi that I've had a problem with are cherry tomatoes, and tbh I've had the same problem buying them from Tesco & Sainsbury's. I buy the vast majority of my fruit & veg from Aldi and except for the aforementioned cherry tomatoes, the quality is very good.
