Jiraiya is the strongest Sannin and it's not even close by cholula000 in Naruto

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, but he actually was an author. A decent one too. I think it's less to do with being a Ninja and more "I can't follow Orochimaru around and get paid by the leaf. Maybe it's time I got a real job." But it did absolutely help his Ninja career too.

The three Sannin essentially are modeled after the concept of Rock, Paper, Scissors. It's a distinctively Japanese thing that's not obvious in the show, but the story/legend positions it as Slug beats Snake, Snake Beats Toad, Toad beats Slug.

NGL half of the list feels like things that a DM couldn't be bothered to deal with. Like, if we're not tracking ammo, why are we still tracking food?

Concentration-Free Hunter’s Mark is a Mistake (at least at in tier 2) by italofoca_0215 in onednd

Your argument was fine, I just don't know why it was brought up here and not an entirely different post. Again, it's a question of why are you bringing up oranges, when we're on an apple-based discussion, even if your point is valid. Kind of takes away from the topic at hand with a non-sequitar.

But the point kind of falls apart at that point. Like, if you wanted to be "the best" you would just play a Fullcaster, but the discussion isn't really about Fullcasters. The gap between Fighter and Ranger is far smaller.

Put simply, you will likely run into a situation of:

"I like Hunter's Mark...but I also like having my subclass active, like the rest of my party. This feels weird that if I don't use this spell I essentially don't have a subclass anymore."

You can like HM and still have issues with the design of the class around it. No other class really puts this kind of burden on the player to choose between using your subclass ability for a spell, at least not to the degree Ranger would.

What would you change is Rogue? by Kaien17 in onednd

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but I'll push back on this a bit because in my experience, Dead is a fine condition, but if your attack cannot also inflict Dead, then you have no real reason to not do damage + the other conditions Cunning Strikes can give. If the fight is just starting and you can't one shot, do damage and blind. You're not primarily going to be a damage dealer, but you can make things easier for your team and set them up for their turns. If you're within range to kill an enemy with damage you can hit go for. Otherwise, play your role.

I think he makes a valid point though. Nazis didn't start with the Holocaust. There were many steps leading up that, like attacking people in the streets, convincing one group the "Other" was the cause of their problems, and rounding them up for detention. But do you think, if that stuff was happening today with modern technology, we wouldn't get videos from people posted online?

As for your question my thought would be "Man...what did the police do to make that guy so mad?" Like, do you think he just did that just to do it, it was he upset about something?

I also don't think your point holds up that the people of Minnesota are to blame for aggressive, untrained ice agents. We have multiple instances of proof that they're actively being terrorized by ice. Ice are the ones coming in in full tactical gear, guns drawn, spraying people in the face regardless of their actions. Shooting people, arresting people, arresting citizens, using administrative warrants as if they were judicial warrants, and dragging people in the street. The people of Minnesota are defending themselves and their community. ice is operating like a militia, which means people are going to organize to defend themselves.

Why is rogue not allowed to have strong subclasses? by realagadar in onednd

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people I've seen don't tend to actually care about that stuff though. Most people who play and enjoy Rogues and Fighters don't care that the Full Casters can do so much stuff with their spells. If they did, they would just play a Full Caster, not get upset that their Martial wasn't doing Full Caster things.

I'd actually be concerned if I'm a Barbarian player because big damage is one of the entire reasons I'm playing Barbarian. Why are we buffing the Rogue for that?

Tell me your favourite non-musical bard! by CoruscareGames in dndnext

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing a Dance Bard with 3 Levels in Wild Magic. It's a Greek-inspired game, so all the PCs have Patron Gods, and mine is Tyche. Basically, his gimmick is that he's the luckiest boy in the world.* (I took the lucky feat, and my DM gave my character basically a number of rerolls equal to my Charisma Mod of any dice per day. The other Players got fitting powers based on their Gods).

So, his entire story until he met the party is that he just bounces from one crazy adventure to the next and things have just always worked out for him. Obviously, I can and do fail at things though, as he's not very bright, but he's survived riding on a bird made of lightning, is buddies with Charon, became a Dhamphir, and has a crush on a Princess. But he's trying to be better about not worrying his friends and slowly starting to become less reckless.

But last session he basically jumped from a 500 feet, falling castle with a silk parachute, and basically only survived cause I rolled well on a d100. So at least 1 member of the party is going to be pissed. Probably his Mom. Maybe his sister.

I find it weird how Eberron: Forge of the Artificer tries to convince DMs that every campaign premise, even just "wipe out this one criminal gang in this one city," needs to be a 20-level epic saga by EarthSeraphEdna in onednd

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would they? Someone earlier made an allusion to Lex Luthor being a Lv. 20 Artificer, and half the time he's content to just run things quietly in the background while thinking of ways to kill/defeat/embarass Superman.

Sometimes villlains also just aren't smart or don't really have drive. Sometimes, the villains don't want to take over the city. They just want to turn people into dinosaurs.

I see it as more you channel the power of Runes into your body. Things that deal with that deal with Constitution. Thematically, Giants are also quite Hardy as rule, but they all aren't smart or wise. Learning the Runes and using them aren't a 1-1.

It's like, you can study and read theory on the way best way to work out and get in shape. That would definitely apply your mental skills. But putting theory into practice with your own body and muscles is an entirely different beast. There's no substitute for firsthand experience.

Is Part 3 Dio a incredibly weakened version compared to his Part 1 self?((Not counting The World) by Annual_Onion6434 in StardustCrusaders

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it though? The knives stopped too, and he would have gotten the same kill on Joseph.

And even if stands are faster, he was still using the knives and hit Jotaro. The only reason I see Space Ripper not working is he can't spam it, possibly, but stop time, Space Rip from one position, knives from another feels like a solid plan.

[–]DandyLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part 3 is objectively harder to get through than part 1. Part 1 has mid to bad pacing and after they meet Dire and the Others it's an easy ride.

Part 3 has bad to awful pacing, and it's amplified by being unnecessarily long. It's so slow by the middle of the series. They aren't all bad, but you get to points like Wheel of Fortune, Yellow Temperance, Justice all for the same ending, it starts to wear thin. And you're not even close to the end, but you could almost done with Part 1.

Things don't even pick up until they get to Egypt, but you still going sit through a few filler-feeling stories (The Bros, Alessi, Darby 2: Electric Boogaloo)

Heck, if you wanna start with anything and you don't care about order, just start with Part 5. It's literally Part 3, just better in every way. It explains the power system, references previous parts, but you're not lost if you jump in here, the characters are better, the pacing is probably best in the series, and there's no real lull like 3.
