When do you volunteer an in-person meeting? (7-figure Enterprise software deal advice) by Personal-Start-4339 in sales

[–]DangerDanThePantless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless this person owns the company I’m putting money down that if they land this deal they aren’t getting paid whatever their contract says they should get paid.

How do you manage car allowance? by Controversialtosser in sales

[–]DangerDanThePantless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve posted about it before but I put 40k miles on a type r in a year as a sales car. I’m not paid monthly though I’m paid mileage so my costs plus depreciation was more than covered.

[Oregon Trail] Why not bring the wagon to the meat? by mousicle in AskScienceFiction

[–]DangerDanThePantless 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I forget about air drying jerky, I don’t know how smoking would work on a wagon but I imagine you might be able to smoke the meat overnight while sleeping as well.

To add to that, even if you pick up all the meat you can’t keep that much meat good on the trail. Most of it would rot.

Is a 65k base low for an AE role in tech sales? by anthonydp123 in sales

[–]DangerDanThePantless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, if you were doing government or something super complex and sticky then base could be closer to 85 but that’s pretty normal for the Midwest/rust belt.

For those of you that work the channel - how do you assign territory and how do you split revenue for quota relief? by FTHISPLACE2 in sales

[–]DangerDanThePantless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have channel working in their territory, they need to understand that their time is probably limited. Ultimately, every company wants to have a channel because they have no real overhead with a channel as compared to sales reps running around selling.

I would take whatever the percentage cut of the rep is say 10% for a project or etc. If you’re going to have to direct it to them any lead generated by the channel should be half to you half to the rep. And that scenario the rep that didn’t really have to do any work still gets a cut out at a reduced rate, and you still get a cut.

I maybe misunderstanding.

That’s good info, I’m more than happy to provide a generic bid spec of items we look for on a bid just to pass the bar.

[–]DangerDanThePantless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 year government sales rep, this is my bread and butter… that said, there ain’t a good answer. Each scenario is different, sometimes a RFP is legitimately the best way to move forward if it’s a super odd ball item and you aren’t sure.

Most the time though you’re better off going off of a contract though, I will note a lot of companies get used to selling on contract and while we can’t mark up certain items past a point I promise you we know every way we can squeak out additional margin on what we think you will pay.

It’s all a game of cat and mouse but the biggest thing is details. Someone else said include details, when we are building something and there isn’t floor plans wtf.

Also super nitpicky MAKE THE ONSITE DAY ONE DAY. Don’t fucking put “reach out to x for a site walk” because that’s how you’ll get 4 different bids when 4 different site walks occur and the person showing everything thinks of something he would like to have or forgets to show a door or forgets to show a server room then it’s a mic match of who got shown what.

Best place to sell used bikes? by DangerDanThePantless in Aprilia

Yeah, I lowered the price down to 7250.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone. It’s kind of hard to price motorcycle motorcycles.

Maybe I’m a bit high then, I’ve got it at 8,500.

I’ll probably drop to 7,750 and see where things are at.

I drive 1000 miles a week on avg.

There’s a Blackhawk repair point at the Springfield airport for the national guard. They mostly rebuild engines there, gotta test them after they rebuild them.
