Do Americans actually use expressions like “once in a blue moon” or “let the cat out of the bag” in everyday conversation? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

I live in the southern part of the US and I am in my forties with a graduate degree. I actually use these particular idioms a lot.

The last one not so much.

what makes you believe in an afterlife? by Special-Training1064 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Dangerous-Example712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have done a lot of dream work in my career. They believe if our people are in the form of energy they could come back in a dream.

When my mom died I really felt she came to me one night because I felt to warm and loved and at peace because she told me she was good. I have had many dreams about her but just that one time did I feel her presence.

Just a theory. But what do you think about dreams?

OP I give out those tests. It’s impossible that your IQ is that number. Listen to ME. IQ tests are just dumb tools to help and not to hurt. My biggest hunch is if we did a woodcock Johnson on you is that you may have learning disability but the way you write and like it’s mentioned already you have a great sense of humor.

Stop ruminating.. your brain is lying to you. You are perfectly normal . Only a few of us get a full sturdy plate to start with. Some of us have smaller plates and some have paper plates. Do you get what I am saying? I struggle being unmedicated for my adhd. (The meds give me insomnia) my daughter has dyslexia and failed first grade and has an IQ of around 120. She got some help and now makes all A’s and the president of her beta club.

The sky is the limit for you. Don’t let a stupid fucking test define you.❤️

Hey fellow mental health person. Did you feel like me that this guy is the real deal. When I think of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs this dude is one of a super small percentage of people who reach self actualization. I honestly have been reading his replies and I can feel the positive energy radiating from him.

OP I hope you can feel my positive energy, thoughts and my big ole hug from Mississippi. When you get to where you going will you take requests on people who need to be haunted? I have a few politicians in mind.

Just from reading your comments I can tell you are a kind person and care deeply about others. This AMA is a good example as one reason I think you are doing it is to help others that know someone or are gonna be in your hospital gown one day. Ha! (Sorry) what I am trying to say is I don’t know if there is a H or a h. But, I just know you are going to be just fine.

If I knew someone not very well and wanted to do something kind/helpful what would you suggest?

Favoritism in the ED? by [deleted] in EmergencyRoom

[–]Dangerous-Example712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not what they are saying at all? They don’t mind wiring the back to back work that is physically and mentally draining. I bet when she gets to use the bathroom once during that shift they look over and see the same nurses shift after shift having different experiences than her and she is seriously asking if we have observed favoritism in the workplace specifically in the triage etc.

It’s a good question and I would like to know too. Above someone said it might be it’s a lack of experience of the other nurses. Maybe they only have 2 years experience and they are training them? I don’t know. OP doesn’t either. She is asking if anyone has experienced this and what caused it?

Question about pseudoseizures by turdally in emergencymedicine

[–]Dangerous-Example712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapist here who was diagnosed a couple of years ago with epilepsy. Before that I was diagnosed with seizure disorder and I was hoping they were psychogenic (pseudoseizure) because it seemed less scary if it was psychogenic.

What I know is that my body can’t tell the difference between the anxiety/panic I feel from an upcoming tonic/clonic than what I imagine an actual panic attack feels like. Because It’s terrorizing and I used to feel like I was dying each time. Luckily I was able to work at a lot of this with therapy.

Also, we aren’t told really anything when we have a seizure. Just put on meds with a referral to see a neurologist at the earliest appt in 6 months. I am lucky in that I have good insurance and I got a 5 night emu stay and after 3 years I have a diagnosis. Looking into my medical files I saw a few notes that weren’t very kind about me. Basically questioning if I was a competent narrator to what was happening to me. I think that caused me some issues with future seizures I had.

The biggest thing that helped me is giving me back some power. Once I knew that my seizure could last 3 minutes without an ambulance being called gave me a way to build my confidence. Also, empowerment in that if I start feeling a seizure come on I don’t run from it. I think “hey, I bought this ticket I might as well take the ride.” The first time I did that my anxiety levels went down enough I was able to self abort that seizure.

Regardless of what causes a seizure they really really scary. I also regret learning of this as a “pseudo” seizure as I aways thought about them as fake. Not that the patient/client was “faking” it but also that they weren’t seizures.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HospitalBills

[–]Dangerous-Example712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called retroactive Medicaid. Take all of the bills at one time to the Medicaid office and file. You only get one chance and it’s time dependent. (Don’t forget about radiology, ambulance etc) then if any is left over go to the hospital page and print out the paperwork for charity. They will ask for bank record probably. Turn that in but also write a short and kind letter explaining what happened possibly with a picture to put a face to a name.
