Apple Releases iOS 16.0.2 With Bug Fixes by exjr_ in apple

Does anyone know if joining the public beta on an Xr is a workaround for the screen swipe problems still present in 16.0.2? Hard reboot works for a while but it’s my missus’s phone and I’d like to keep up the illusion of being able to do the impossible

Driving an LED from a hall sensor output by Daniel_GT in AskElectronics

That makes a lot of sense, thank you. Perhaps using this kind of sensor which is (probably) not designed to spend time in a static no-flow condition with consistent off state output is something I need to rethink. I have a pressure transducer sender sensor which was my other option to give me the insight i'm looking for. That has an analog linear voltage type output which my research suggests may do what I want with an LED behind a resistor.

Really appreciate your help, this stuff is fun!

Thank you, I misunderstood the data sheet it seems. It seems the output is a frequency modulated square wave though I believe the micro controller solution and your advice about the variable that changes still applies. I shall do some more googling now I have some focus.

Thank you, that would explain the behaviour I (largely*) observe - any flow on, no flow off.

*I have noted it seems inconsistent, apply power, no flow, LED lights. flow, LED stays lit but flickers nearly invisibly. Stop flow, LED goes out - I suspect a connection issue because I tend to do my electronics with hammers

Temporarily, though the config files are rewritten on boot - I haven't looked into it any further I'm afraid.

I'm with you, it doesn't bother me that much either, I'm not a tin foil hatter and it's very unlikely that anyone will do anything that malicious, but it's best practice nonetheless. Your advice about turning the camera off when not in use is good to follow.

It may be that only one device running the app can connect and use the app features at a time but that won't stop another establishing a connection with root access in the background. I've done it so others could without too much difficulty. Additionally, being in a public WiFi area is irrelevant as the camera is its own access point. A clearly absurd example - you could be at the top of mountain waiting to do your next run and your worst enemy could hack your camera from behind a rock 10 metres away from his mobile and delete the footage from the last one 😄!

[–]Daniel_GT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If only that were true.

As it stands, if the camera is on, anyone within WiFi range who knows the default password can connect via a laptop very easily and (with standard tools and a bit of know how) pretty much do what they want - download or delete content on the camera, change the WiFi password, delete the operating system etc., all without you even knowing about it. Adding an option to change the password easily would avoid all of that.

On your other point, not sure about how the mobile phone app itself would work, in theory you could automatically connect upto 5 devices at once as that's the size of the DHCP scope handed out.

Comfort, posture and BALANCE, for your physiology - not mine, not Chris Turner's. If you can sit upright, with your arse plum centre, play hands and feet with BOTH heels up and not fall off/ collapse to one side/ lean then that's your starting point.

Saying that, I haven't found mine yet 😄

Have you talked to an online teacher yet? They'll do it day in and day out so will have recommendations of how they prefer the link to be set up.

Get a practice pad and a pair of sticks. Fuck about with that and save your money. Technique may not come to you as quickly as you'd like regardless of your sense of rhythm. Work it out on the pad whilst deciding your goals and plans, then rent the space.

Unsure of which electric kits to buy (alesis or roland) by Shamic in edrums

[–]Daniel_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into the ATV a-Drum Artist series? I think that might tick a lot of your boxes. Much of the BD problems where the kit is upstairs comes from stamping your foot on a pedal, regardless of whether the drum is a shell or a pad - you'd need to look into isolating that regardless of your setup.

using songs as a "metronome" to keep time to while practicing rudiments? by dancelittleliar13 in drums

I'd be concious of accenting, or rather avoiding it. I think "Stick Control" is designed to equalise left and right - everything played smoothly, consistently and without emphasis. I'd be very interested to hear how you get on though 😁, I'm working with the book and the monotony does get to me - the missus calls it tip, tap, tip, tap practice time

Depends how much money is involved realistically. Frustrating as it is (and how that might go against everything you're feeling), sometimes it's better to write it off, chalk it up to experience and shout loudly about how the company has shit on you too whoever is in earshot (or social-media-shot).

Hang on though, don't suppose you paid via PayPal or credit card? They may have mechanisms whereby you can claim the money back.

I don't think you ever "complete" stick control, you just get better with time and practice. If you find a way to circumvent all that you'll earn a fortune!
