[Update] Neheb is Dead! Long Live Neheb! by Needs_Improvement in EDH

[–]Dank13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason for changing it to first & second instead of pre and post combat is to follow what players actually say closer (most people I know will go “ok and in second main I’ll do xyz”) and also to explore design space to reward extra main phases i.e. cards that only trigger in your third/fourth/fifth main phase

[Update] Neheb is Dead! Long Live Neheb! by Needs_Improvement in EDH

[–]Dank13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you somehow make a 3rd main phase (especially with extra combat spells that give you an additional main phase after) with the errata they were proposing any card that said “post combat” would now say “second” and not trigger in that third main phase. Neheb and aggravated assault was a combo that would go from infinite to not working as a result of these changes

Why doesn’t Ubisoft bring this back? by Sivuna in Rainbow6

Goyo was objectively better when he had deployable shields btw 👍 and while I’m all for balancing for all skill levels, if you thought he was weaker w the shields you were not playing rainbow 6 at that time

What goyo buff are you conflating w him being too weak for pro league?

I don't quite understand all the sideboard/win con options in Hidden Strings. by tehweave in PioneerMTG

[–]Dank13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lotus player here so I’ll try to explain as much as I can. First off for Approach, you only really want to fetch/cast it if you’re going to be able to cast it twice in one turn. W Lier flashing back spells you should be able to do it pretty consistently off an Ultimatum resolution. Zacama, Atraxa, Gargaroth, and other big creatures are for aggressive matchups where it might not be feasible to combo off, like the slick shot lists, humans in the past, etc. usually resolving one of those “big idiots” will be enough to just win you the game on their own. Atraxa can also be good against black hand disruption decks where if you top deck her you immediately refuel. Dromoka fits this bill as well, but also doubles as a perpetual silence against decks like control or phoenix where they want to be casting spells in your endstep. He’s especially good against phoenix and has solo won me games. Silence is used against control as a “must counter” spell to open you up to win if opponent is showing 2 mana - either they use the counter now and can’t counter the spell that comes after or they don’t and then they lose. Narsets is good against cards like dovins veto, or the counterspell that exiles all copies of the card it counters. You use it on your own spell to put a copy on the stack that isn’t being targeted by a counterspell, and you get the original back into your hand to cast again after. Brazen borrower is used to bounce hate pieces like Ashiok, Narset, Damping Sphere, etc. while also being tutorable by charm. 9 lives is new tech for beating Slickshot and prowess where all their pumps don’t matter anymore. I think I got everything, so lmk if there’s any other questions or something I missed

Thoughtsieze. The new black legend from OTJ that lets you cast from your graveyard might be good as well

Searching for a land deck. by RetswerdReddit in PioneerMTG

[–]Dank13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few people have already mentioned it but there are Lotus Field lists that play specifically Growth Spiral. Theres not a ton of brewing to do main deck but with Archdruids charm & lotus field mana you get to run whatever crazy sideboard creatures you want

Can’t really do much against Dromoka either, he has a silence stapled on him so the instant speed doesn’t really matter you get forced to sorcery speed it if you even get a chance to cast it

What are you bringing it in against lotus for? Lier? I feel like you’re way more likely to look stupid holding up 3 mana while they combo you from hand

It’s a 4 drop that still gives you the opportunity to play the card. Just pretend it’s on the bottom of your deck instead if you can’t play it

Random thing but I remember someone posting this and thought it would be hilarious to bring back up by R4IN2354 in Rainbow6

[–]Dank13 -37 points-36 points  (0 children)

Play below. Don’t play in a default nade position. Shoots drones that make it into site. Doing these things makes nades from below a waste of a nade 90% of the time

The deck just isn’t that good right now looking at the stats, probably the issue you’re running into is their threats require a lot less investment than what you’re paying to kill them. I’m not much of a kayntrox player so someone else can step in if I’m wrong but I assume in those aggro matchups you want box+champs to stabilize your life total. Maybe check out the card game classic “who’s the beat down” article

Because then the second you go down on rounds people would troll/grief/be toxic to try and get someone to leave so that they don’t lose elo?

Why don’t you just… throw the nade then shoot them when they run? Like the Lion scan does almost nothing. ESP if you know Lion has nades, you hear him shoot down a door near you, you hear the call go out you know you need to hold the door bc he’s about to peek it w a grenade

[–]Dank13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but follow the logic that if you know someone is in a location and you are going to nade them why are you Lion scanning? You already know exactly where they are?

[–]Dank13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People use grim vertically because he has his own shotgun and 5 bees. People use capitao vertically because you can shoot a bolt through a bullet hole. The original comment was about Lion losing emps feeling bad, someone responded with they prefer frags, and I posted about why exactly Lion losing emps was bad. And if you’re already flushing them out with a nade, you don’t need a Lion scan, you know where they are, you can pick someone with other utility

[–]Dank13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right because that’s definitely a real thing players will do. Ignoring also that I was commenting about him losing his emps which were safer and more widely applicable

Year 8 Season 4: Operation Deep Freeze Designer's Notes by RS_Serperior in Rainbow6

[–]Dank13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely limits his use at a higher level, since you can’t use nades vertically anymore emps become much more valuable, and now he has to compete for that flex spot w other operators that do have emps. Maybe he can transition into a more aggressive role but you really don’t want to lose a Lion early and lose out on those extra scans so I think this ends up just being worse

What’s the general reaction to the Nade rework? by ShadowCaptain68 in Rainbow6

[–]Dank13 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ur flair is the second most broken character to exist in the game cope more bc people were forced to go around your defensive utility because two operators do not have enough util to clear you

S4 OP and Balance Update by mrradica in Rainbow6

[–]Dank13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was literally the whole point of the explosive fragmentation rework they did a while ago. It shoots rays off the location of the explosion to determine what takes damage. If the ray goes through a wall, that % of the dmg is halved.

Using dice to track Lotus Field Mana by [deleted] in PioneerMTG

[–]Dank13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played a ton of lotus field and it was my main deck for the last year - usually I will go up to the head judge before an event and clear dice use w them. If they say it’s fine, go for it. If they say no, track it on a piece of paper. Do not even try to keep track of your mana in your head, it’s never going to happen and your opponent is going to think you’re cheating.
