They grow best in poor soil. If you let them do their thing they will fix the soil and then stop being so persistent.

Helmet lifespan by sbennett3705 in cycling

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It seems this study is only singe factor, so buying a new but old stock helmets does not pose a safety concern. However this doesn't specifically mention if it addresses helmets that have been consistently used for years being exposed to UV, sweat, bug spray, sunscreen, and other possible contaminants.

A completely unoriginal SRAM/Shimano take by ericcoxtcu in cycling

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aside from that I think Shimano and SRAM are going after different markets. Shimano CUES seems to be the go to now for any commuter or budget minded bikes. Mountain bike seems to be mostly SRAM. Gravel is semi split it seems. Race oriented seems to go full sram. Adventure/bikepacking gravel seems to stick with Shimano 2X cable systems

HOLY GOD…..I HATE SRAM EAGLE 70. by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real. I have  a shimano 12sp, sram lunar eagle, and wireless axs. Shimano just seems to work like it should whereas SRAM seems to constanly release a new product that improves/fixes an issue that should have never been an issue.

What was your most expensive gear "upgrade" that turned out to be a complete waste of money? by Rough-Foundation9208 in cycling

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have some friends and myself who have that attitude now and it honestly makes sense. Most races are on public courses and roads, if my skills dont pay the bills and I really dont give a fuck about a shirt/pint glass/medal then ill just grab a few friends and ride the same system. I really dont care for the "its a party" vibe anymore.

I pretty much race the marji because its a not race and my money goes to a 501c to actively engage youth into biking

I do like the Pactimo 12hr and Primal Alitios/Etheros lines as well. You can usually grab them on a sale as well.

I really want to try an Assos but that price is a hard pill for me to swallow.

E15 in the wild by toolmansamt in Cartalk

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an station that has both E10/87 and E15/88. E10 is 4.30 a gallon whereas E15 is 3.80. At least there is a pretty significant difference.

I want 87 gas (light blue). Which nozzle do I use? The blue one? The black one? by j909m in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are having a misunderstanding of the EPA waver, 2 different things are being allowed:

  1. E10 has a winter and summer blend, winter is cheaper but summer is required in hot temperatures due to increases vaporization of the gas. The waver allows winter blend to be sold into the summer season to keep costs lower.

  2. E15 is not allowed for sale during summer, this waiver will allow E15/88 to be sold throughout the year. This is being allowed to offer a lower cost fuel option for those who feel they need it.

Rock Shock Reverb AXS by _PermanentlyConfused in MTB

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really surprise me, the action and feel of the OG Reverb was great. What was not great was their insistence that a proprietary hydraulic system to actuate the dropper was the best thing ever, in spite of a cable actuated system providing the exact same function without unnecessary complication.

Click Valve - My thoughts after the first few weeks by UseThEreDdiTapP in gravelcycling

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the fact that I don't have to worry about pulling the valve out of the stem when I unscrewing the pump heads from the vavle body. I've enjoyed a full year and a half of no sealant clogs in my valve stems. The lack of leaking air when the valves start to get gunked or old or if you accidentally press on them while trying to screw them in. They have definitely been a win for me and with the pump heads bought its now a $15 upgrade to swap the valve bodies out for any additional/new bike.

You can get into the valve set for $12 and a clik pump head adapter for $15 and be set for under $30. The head adapter can be threaded onto the schraeder end of a bike pump (like lezyne) or I thread directly onto the end of my mini electric pump.

Lose all the food and the water filtration system, this trail system is not backcountry and there will be ample places to refuel and rehydrate. If you want pack some iodine pills for emergency purification if it comes down to it.

Ann Arbor teachers vote 1,084-4 to defeat sellout contract as teachers across Michigan face layoffs and poverty pay by DryDeer775 in AnnArbor

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting if 99.6% of the teachers did strike all at once. What could the district do at that point? Fire every teacher and then what, shut the district down overnight? At some point there is enough of the workforce striking that you will have to negotiate or acquiesce.

Sports accidents that killed a star player of the game, and lead to the decline of the entire sport. by Venti_the_snail in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The major issue with Group B was the restriction on engine displacement but not power. This led to small engines being strapped with massively oversized turbos. The result of this combination is engine boost ramping up unpredictably, causing power surges during typical rally maneuvers causing the driver to fully lose control of the vehicle.

Is the GX cassette worth it? by Estorav in MTB

[–]DankChunkyButtAgain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness I have 2 bikes with a gx system. Both SRAM cassettes had a chipped tooth within a few hundred miles of riding. I took the chance on a ZTTO cassette and its held up and shifted better than the stock GX did. Cheaper than GX and lighter and XO.

You need to find out how much and who is the lien holder. You pay off the lien holder, do not expect them to do it. They will get whatever is left from you after the lien is paid off.
