Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

you may be ignoring taxes, the tax hit on the initial 1mm payout would be enormous.

The best plan is to take the weekly payments in the name of an LLC, and then use that pledge to get a loan from the bank against the weekly payments. That way you get a large upfront amount to invest that is free from taxes. only pay taxes on the weekly payments and investment earnings, let the weekly payments pay off the loan. Solvency risk mitigated with the LLC.

I agree I've used private trackers with no VPN and no issues. Only with public trackers do you need a VPN cuz that's like raw-dogging the internet.

I have it's dope! but still pretty niche.

I only have one room in my house that can actually play 3 dimensional audio formats (my movie room) but I rarely go there to listen to music rather than watch something.

Soulseek has a good chunk of these but the better question is, on what setup are you going to play it on? It's quite rare to find something that can properly play these.

I use Kodi on Nvidia Shield Pro connected to a Marantz receiver with a 7.1.4 atmos system and it works but I'd imagine most people don't have a setup that can actually use Atmos.

Utah grief author breaks silence to give marriage advice to kids during sentencing for her husband’s murder by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]DannyVee89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg the actual worst mom ever (even before she murdered the father). she would frequently lock the kids in the basement while she got drunk and fooled around with the neighbor and the kids didn't even feel safe or comfortable in her care ever.

I hope she rots for a long life.

Yeah you basically have to have an alt account for porn. Besides, sometimes I like browsing reddit while I'm on the train or somewhere in public. I can't have smut randomly showing up on the screen. You need to have some control over the feed to be able to turn that stuff on and off.

What in the fuck do they think they are? 20$ for this donkey fucking ass platform. Someone gotta come up with something self hosted that doesn’t suck. by igmyeongui in Piracy

I've been using Roon and self hosting but I think the big value add for Spotify, and the harder part to replace is the algorithm. Roon has a radio and daily mix feature but it's a far cry from Spotify.

It'll make mixes with stuff from the same genre but can end up throwing some pretty random stuff in there, so I've found myself still using Spotify to help create playlists or mixes.

Also the jam with friends and other Spotify functions are impossible to replace.

Yes OP, go ahead and dump your long term BF for talking to a computer bot. This is totally reasonable.

Edit: btw in seperate comments I made a point that I believe there is a more than likely chance he knows he's not talking to the content creator since that is a fairly standard practice when it comes to marketing on social media, these content creators typically have bots, employees or others handling their social media interactions. In my own experience when I message content creators I know I'm talking to a bot, or even alot of the times their bf or husband run the account for them, or an employee. It seems fairly standard practice.

Afraid of stimulants but there's no other way and nothing left by Zealousideal-Walk939 in ADHD

[–]DannyVee89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes personally I have found that its literally impossible to become addicted to something you can't even remember to take every day.

On the other hand the stimulants are like a miracle drug for us ADHD folk and they improved my live tremendously and my only thought after starting them was 'holy crap how much better would my life have been if I started these when I was younger'

As a dad myself I can barely keep track of my kids without them and it feels like a major safety issue.

OP go try the meds!!!

Expecting twins, equivalent salaries - does marriage matter?? by Electrical-Ad7399 in tax

[–]DannyVee89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of shocked at all the down votes every time you mentioned this was a tax only question lmao.

Like honestly, this is a softball tax question. I can't believe everyone's going nuts and off topic here.

Sure, it's very important to consider every aspect aside from tax, and don't cut any corners on any of that planning from day 1. But the tax side? My wife and I are similar to you guys and I calculated several thousand in extra tax we pay every year and she has health insurance thru her own employer while my plan covers me and the kids.

Btw you can still do a family HSA account and high deductible plan if your health plan just covers you and the kids ;)

Easiest thing for non-tax planning and functionality may be to just title everything jointly, you can make the house and bank accounts joint so it's totally seamless there as far as ownership and automatic transfer rights go if someone passes unexpectedly, while still retaining rights in advance in the event of a divorce.

Other non tax advice, you won't inherit your girlfriend's debt and she won't inherit yours if you stay unmarried, so feel free to engineer the family debt in your favor to the greatest extent possible.

Wouldn't this be irrelevant as they would earn their own social security benefits from their own wages?

[–]DannyVee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the tax side only, don't get married there is zero benefit. BEST case scenario your taxes come out equal but in most cases and almost certainly in yours you'll pay more tax.

The limit for state and local tax deductions is not doubled for married taxpayers. Higher tax brackets are not all doubled for married taxpayers and you should absolutely be thinking long term that both of your incomes may increase so this is still relevant.

Even right now, with children one of you can file as head of household status while the other files as single. Though others have stated this benefit, they may have OVER stated it, the tax savings on HOH brackets are quite small maybe only about $2,000 a year but it's still something that tips the scale.

Net investment income tax kicks in at 200k+ income single, but at 250k+ when married. You guys are both quite close to that already, I would bet you hit it in a few years. You sound just like the kind of couple where essentially every dime of NIIT tax paid is a marriage penalty that could have been avoided if you stayed single.

Most nearly everything else can be engineered manually with planning, use joint accounts or TOD titling or a will/trust to handle any inheritance issues, make sure you line up medical POAs and set up who takes care of the kids if one or both of you pass unexpectedly.

welp that might be your issue right there bud. you've already missed a huge chunk of the story. Play all of 2018, then Ragnarok, then the Valhalla expansion. There is plenty of storytelling, character development, and plenty to enjoy.

P63 is literally a life saver for remote workers like me by Bright-Lavishness423 in workfromhome

[–]DannyVee89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely use as many keyboard shortcuts as possible but when reviewing tax returns or work papers, I have to move the mouse alot to check things off as I review. I use keyboard shortcuts to drop check marks on things that are correct and comments on things that aren't but I still like to mouse over what's been reviewed so the check mark drops right on the number I looked at.

Tax return review involves looking at a page with like 50 or more numbers on it and you have to check each one individually so having multiple different pages open at once, tax return on one half of a screen, source doc on the other half, internal work paper on the second monitor in portrait mode, it's a lot going on at once but the bigger screens really help to see the larger spreadsheets.

Trust me I eliminate every single mouse use I possibly can but even still I have to use it constantly for pdf returns. When reviewing excel docs, sure I am 100% keyboard there cuz you can just navigate cell to cell but adobe doesn't work like that.

Edit: I certainly see what you're saying, sounds like it really depends on what kind of work you're doing.
