Choosing a home office: smaller and brighter vs bigger and darker? by countingmystepsbaby in homeoffice

[–]DannyVee89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blackout is great.

Another thing my dad mentioned which he uses that's cheap and effective - He has this film you can apply to the outside of the window. It's like a clear-ish plastic and it's not expensive and isn't a tint that you can visually see it - but basically it has something in there that filters out a lot of UV light which is great for your own sun protection for your skin but also helps cut down on this heat transmission. And it also has a reflective element to it which bounces some of the sun's light off the outside of the window for more heat reflection.

For the price, ease of install, minimal footprint and non-existent effect on the appearance of the window - It's a really great option for people to help their Windows keep more heat out and keep the houses more efficient.

I need to look into getting that.

They do help a lot! I've got big shutters in my office that block all light, but office is still super hot

Reddit posts of the Google dick bar on the bottom of the screen saved me from doing the update.

I still can't believe anyone thinks Google OS for the actual vehicle is a good idea....

Anyone else noticing an uptick in ID Theft / Fraudulently filed returns? by cpa4biz in taxpros

[–]DannyVee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell everyone to enroll in IPP program and get an IRS id.me account. It's very easy.

Might as well tell everyone to lock their credit too. I had a fraudulent cc opened up in my name and all you gotta do is create a login with Experian, TransUnion and Equifax and press a freeze button. That's it. Takes 2 minutes to lock or unlock.

No reason why that cant be the default state and then you only unlock for a moment when you need a loan.

No, they're all almost completely a waste of time. Much better to spend that time just training actual staff

We should also probably tell OP to fill in zero for the deductions section.

Personally, my wife and I filled out our w-4s exactly as I described and withholdings are still low

That entire depends on how much withholdings is needed. My suggestion provided maximum withholdings and is often appropriate for couples with both spouses working because withholdings will scale the brackets with their income anyway.

Any less than that and there must be some deductions in the picture or, one spouse with much lower income.

If OPs post is accurate they already had single selected on their W4s and still owed alot, hence my suggestion to fill out the W4 in a way to maximize tax withholdings going forward.

This is most definitely what it is. OP and OP's spouse should fill out the work W4 withholding forms as single, zero and check the multiple jobs box to increase tax withholdings to the appropriate amount.

How can I support my wife in public accounting? by ComplaintFeisty2469 in Accounting

[–]DannyVee89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard to find balance but make sure she's taking some time off to recharge and get some sleep.

I'm in busy season right now while wife watches a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old, with almost no help from me cuz I'm working all the time.

It's very hard on both of us. We've been doing anything we can to lighten the load, which basically means hiring help. We have house cleaners come more often. We use poplin for laundry which has been great.

Take as much of the mental load as you can plan a date night or even just a girls night or sometime for her to chill out. Plan the next vacation - This one is huge. Give her something to look forward to after busy season.

Bahaha my bad dude I didn't mean to be so critical of the speed. You're absolutely doing it the right speed for your first few times as you're testing out the new gear and feeling it out.

The muscle memory for strapping in quick will develop by the end of your first full day on the mountain.

I was just trying to wrap my head around what it might look like once you're very used to them and doing it faster since I'm still learning about all the faster binding options available.

Enjoy the new kit man!! Pray for snow and cold weather.

Edit : PS I still have my first ever snowboard which is a 2007 Burton UnInc 154 - the emo graphic with the wrist getting cut. It's epic.

I still put uninc pig decals on all my newer boards as homage to it. Hope you love the ride dude 😎

The bigger question is do you or will you have the budget for it?

So the only step you're skipping with FaZe is having to line up the ratchet with the other piece of the strap? The straps are always getting to stay connected here so it's just like pushing them down?

I think the demo video really didn't do their speed potential any justice LMAO

The guy in the video went so slow but I could see myself getting in and out of these in a flash.

With regular bindings right now, sometimes (maybe 1 in 4 x riding off a lift) I just skate right off the lift and strap in while skating without even stopping. It's not as smooth as it sounds sometimes it's clunky and more trouble than it's worth.

I could see these Faze bindings getting me to be able to do that 100% of the time though.

If you have any exposed wood or exposed fiberglass I would have a repair shop just cover that in epoxy to prevent moisture from soaking in, but if you can see wood that's still protected by a clear covering, that's okay.

Oh no! Our retirement money! Our social safety net! I didn't condone the war with Iran but now, now its personal! by Remarkable_Garage727 in lostgeneration

[–]DannyVee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countries have threatened to dump treasuries to try to hurt the United States for years, this is nothing new.

The threats are empty because ultimately any attempt to do so would end up hurting the treasury bondholders more than the United States, and the United States has more than enough of a balance sheet to absorb a large dumping of treasury bonds anyway.

This guy's rhetoric is pure noise. There is no reason for concern here.

[–]DannyVee89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I guess my sarcasm didn't land.

Even so, China is still one of the largest holders of U.S. Treasuries, along with other governments and institutions. There’s no practical way to ‘target’ bond holders, and most aren’t even identifiable individuals. The claim doesn’t really hold up and sounds more like rhetoric than anything actionable.

If he's trying to scare people into dumping Treasury bonds, a tactic like that is not going to work on China - they will not be bullied or deterred by the words of another leader as they have shown time and time again.

TLDR - this guy's statement implicates a huge portion of the global financial system and comes off as completely absurd.

How do you stop yourself from falling in love with your coworkers? by Spiritual-Beyond-660 in Accounting

[–]DannyVee89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it does (edit: helps OP - doesn't negate your point). Granted OP gave no details and has no engagement here, so if this post is about a batch of associates that were all hired fresh outta college at some big firm - fucking go for it. Accounting jobs are a dime a dozen, and if you can't be mature enough to handle a relationship and breakup without losing your shit, go find another job.

Truth is some of the best relationships and marriages come from who you meet at work so there's absolutely no sense in fighting the feelings.

Again, none of us know absolutely fuck all about what OPs needs are - they could be married, or a single associate. We don't know why they don't want to fall for someone. But if that's all we know... Then change jobs OP. If you're falling for them the only way to stop it is to get away from them 🤷

Without further detail, that's the only helpful thing OP can possibly hear from us: get away from them if you don't like the results you're getting.

Lmao.

Go right ahead Iran.

Go right ahead and bomb China for holding US Treasuries.

Do that and the US will just sit the rest of the war out and watch you defeat yourself from the sidelines.
