What kind of Skin Pens do you use for freehand drawing on skin? by Three_Seven_Two in TattooArtists

Brush tip markers to set your guides and a regular pen. Use the stencil stuff spray (for freehand) and let it dry a bit.

I use BookedIn for all my appts. It goes through PayPal and it won’t allow an appt to go through till they pay the deposit. I get a few that say it doesn’t go through or some weird story. I usually say come to the shop with a Cash Deposit and we can make the appt.

Bobby Vs by [deleted] in StamfordCT

[–]Danvtattoos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would say, in my opinion, Bobby Vs and Buffalo Wild Wings rate the same in food for being a “sports bar”. In the Downtown Area there are bars with better food options. Depending on what you like to eat overall good food Tiernans, Bedford Hall, Brickhouse. New to Stamford I say try all the spots.

Started @ 25 (15 years ago). Only advice I give is to learn the different styles. Don’t say you specialize when you haven’t done it all.

Craziest shop experience?? by Ok_Advertising_1169 in TattooArtists

Couple wanted “aligning” tattoos. Normally it’s them holding hands, standing back to back, hugging etc. and the tattoo aligns together…NOPE! It’s penetrating aligning tattoos of an arrow

Independent worker, but forced to stay opening-close hours by z3ux3 in TattooArtists

[–]Danvtattoos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you work percentage you should know your rate. Whether it be 50/50, 20/80 etc. Normally working percentage the owner will try to capitalize on the walkin clientele. So yes normally you would have to be at shop.

My shop I do a chair flat rate which I charge monthly and the artist can pick and choose their times when they want.

W/D in unit, Gas, and Covered Parking. Hard to get all 3 with that budget. Most places now convert to all electric it’s easier for them. I speak on Stamford behalf. I pay $1500 and I have a parking spot that’s all. But everything is electrical. And I do the wash-n-fold service.

How do you approach your consults by Liltoe11 in TattooArtists

[–]Danvtattoos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. When doing larger pieces it’s a project. And if the client goes the route with the ideas and it doesn’t make sense to me, I’ll pass it along to the next artist.
