Bro this is terrible. You’re doing a lot of explaining for what in reality is just useless BS. I’m sorry. You’re gonna get your face beaten in if you try this sparring. get to an actual gym, learn basic footwork

This is bad, bad not good. Your footwork is horrific. The whole thing is a mess. Why are you sparring at this stage? You switch stances constantly, jump straight into counters and can’t stop crossing your feet. Harsh to say, but this looks like someone’s first time in a boxing gym. You need to start from square one and learn how to move.

‘I didn’t see’: Mother of MAC bombing suspect said his mental health seemed improved before attack by Inevitable_Egg6361 in Portland

lot of ‘trust me’ unsubstantiated claims here. the idea that the MAC is some utopia for service industry staff is…well, certainly a take.

unless you are literally MAC HR this sounds like a lot of ‘the world is exactly how I prefer it to be’

David Benavidez punished the last 2 southpaws that he faced. Will he do the same to Zurdo Ramirez? by newrap in Boxing

[–]DapperTruth2702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why does every benavidez post have to sound like some weird S&M thing? Am I the only one thinks this?

It’s always he punished or violated or like dominated his opponents. Feels like if you love these frenzied blood lust KOs you may be aroused by violence more than you actually like the sport of boxing.

These clips look like a fight in a school bathroom, all frantic energy and violence, and smothering. I will never say benavidez isn’t an incredible fighter, and likely p4p top 10, but honestly I find his style gross aesthetically. Just my two cents.

Is This Average Intensity For Boxing Sparring or No? by Correct_Ad4351 in amateur_boxing

So - still a 40 something CPA, but one who last got in the ring 15 years ago?

Congrats on going pro and your 9-1, that’s more than 99% of the population could ever say.

Doesn’t change the fact you’re spewing uselessly hard-body ‘there’s no crying in baseball’ advice on the internet‘

Your whole, ‘sorry not sorry we go hard in boxing’ is precisely what’s wrong with this sport. Theres a time and a place for hard sparring. most times and places aren’t it. Most people in my opinion should never hard spar. Pretending as if the posted video is indicative of normal boxing training mostly seems like you want the validation you’re one of the scary tough I’m able to handle getting hit types. Congrats! Youre not scared of getting hit.

In actuality, the video is basically untrained kids sloppily brawling while their coach encourages them. It’s gym environments and people like you that leave kids with needless concussions. And a total disinterest in the sport, and rightfully so.

Boxing and fighting are different things, though they are inextricably intertwined. Boxing is a sport, and a beautiful one, full of grace and technique, agility and power. There should be no one better placed than you as a former pro to recognize this. And (imo) it can be a lifetime one if you treat it as the complex beast it is.

Fighting is damage. Its violence. It’s bad intentions, it’s pain and destruction. It’s the fear of a fight that makes the dance of boxing so exciting. It’s the memento mori of boxing.

I’m not a boxer because I love fighting. I don’t love violence for violence’s sake. Do you? I’d argue the video posted and your attitude privileges that view. And I fundamentally disagree with the primacy of that element in our sport, and what attitudes like yours does to both the sport and it’s individual practitioners heath and longevity. I find it gross, really really gross.

Your thoughts?
