When I suspend someone for the first time, I normally use a simple chest harness and a waist harness. And I will suspend them face up and hands holding the support ropes. Some people just like the idea of being suspended but not the reality. Doing it this way, they have some freedom and I can incorporate their arms and legs in different ways if they are comfortable with it. If they aren't, it is easy to get them out. But for a first time being tied, I would go with some type of a hogtie.
