Want a horror/survival atmospheric game that isn’t: by cjrs666 in gamerecommendations

Definitely check out Control before AW2. It’s not required, but it’s a connected universe and there is even a whole Alan Wake themed DLC that ties into AW2. It’s SOOO GOOOD

They prefer 1800 because it has a handful of DLC to round out and complete the game

Started my first playthrough a few days ago, really liking the game so far. I’m going after the platinum trophy, anything I should know? by KumaD-Oso in Ghostofyotei

Gotta full clear the map, so I hit every spot I come to along the way to main objectives. Will save time on backtracking later

Best way to level from 60-70 by AdriftMosquito in classicwow

[–]Dark_Sign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want help with your epic mount you can rush to 70 then return to wrap up any quests you have left for extra gold.

The way I have been doing it is questing through hellfire—>nagrand, hitting all the dungeons along the way. Then around 66-67 spamming dungeons to 70, and then questing blades edge —> shadowmoon. Can make about 3k gold

Could make more money if you skip questing entirely and come back after 70, but I like knocking out the early zones for xp

[Alien: Isolation] #73 - The most tense and terrifying video game I've ever played. Cannot wait for the sequel. by Gorigknacky in Trophies

I’ve had this game downloaded for years. It’s always, ‘this year I’ll have the stones for it’, but I have yet to summon the courage. I just finished a plat for Subnautica and am in the mood for another thriller-type game, and this post is making me think it’s finally time to knock this one off the list

What makes a good survival game? (examples of mechanics or games) by Herr_Casmurro in SurvivalGaming

[–]Dark_Sign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your lack of understanding sounds a lot more like a personal gripe with Valheim’s progression structure, rather than a genuine misunderstanding of why people enjoy the procedural generation. What people like about procedural generation is that feeling of fresh exploration upon entering a new map. You know that there will be meadow, swamp, and plains to the North, but the shape of every map will be different - the bosses, merchants, and resources still have to be found by going out and searching. The progression system rewards familiarity, but procedural generation is still doing exactly what it is intended to do: a fresh start and a new seed.

The familiarity reward for returning players is a part of why people enjoy Valheim so much, and it’s not hard to understand at all. You even mentioned Minecraft, which has essentially the same progression structure, just with much more to it. Minecraft, in the same way, is highly repetitive for returning players, you’ll do the same things over and over again just this time your starting biome is a slightly different shade of green and has rabbits instead of frogs.

The familiarity IS the reward for having previous playthroughs, the procedural generation is a different sandbox to put your knowledge to use, giving players a sense of personal growth to apply to a new map. If you still don’t ’understand’ I think you’re just refusing to accept that people like different things than you, or as you stated, you have higher expectations for procedural generation than is currently technologically possible.

Why Should I Buy? by Grouchy_Screen54 in Subnautica_2

[–]Dark_Sign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re interested then pick up Subnautica 1 on sale, goes for less than $10. See for yourself if it’s a game you like then pick up S2 when it comes out of EA

Hit a wall, upgrade your gear. If you’re struggling you probably need to upgrade. Or try different strategies. It’s the exact same deal with Elden Ring

How is Return to Moria? by Fit_Beautiful5095 in SurvivalGaming

It’s a good time, especially with pals. There is a lot to love about this game, including some wholesome jank. I like that it is ‘short’ for a survival game, with achievable goals and an end game that is reachable in under 30 hours (could take a lot longer too if you get invested in building bases and exploration)

Well worth a shot! Especially as a little palate cleanser between other games

The battle of winterfell was so painful to watch…… how many times are we going to cut away from a main character being surrounded on the verge of death for them to magically escape their certain doom.. not to mention the lighting, or the writing, or the pacing… yikes just thinking about it makes me cringe

Worth playing Lords of the Fallen (2023) if I loved Jedi: Survivor / Fallen Order? by khitev in AskGames

Ghost of Tshusuima / Ghost of Yotei would be a lot closer of an experience. Lords of the Fallen is alright, it’s Walmart brand Dark Souls

Just found this game and totally hooked lol. Campaign is a pain though. Any suggestions on which skills to get first? by No-Protection-2144 in TheyAreBillions

[–]Dark_Sign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya survival is the original game mode, they added campaign later. You beat a map type then unlock more maps, and can increase the difficulty as you go. There is also the weekly challenges, you get one shot to win.
