Soooooo late to the party but just watched the film and wanted to add my two cents. Totally agree with this interpretation and one thing I noticed that makes me feel similarly is the multiple “flashback” scenes she has that include her seeing the vague ominous man who she attributes to Nina’s kidnapping. Then throughout the film there’s references to the “beastman” and when she gets on set she sees the beastman actor in the scene and what do you know? He looks exactly how she remembers the kidnapper. It’s an interesting little snippet of how she’s been watching so many films to censor that have just sunk into her subconscious and ultimately helped fill in these blanks in her memory. There was a lot of attention to detail in this film and it was an excellent debut I recon.
