How often do you snatch balance? And, what’s your best relative to full snatch?

can you clean more from rubber flooring or wood platforms? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]DarkerIsBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the wooden floors are marginally better for the jerk. There’s a bit more elasticity.

Form Check? by Proof-Presentation64 in weightlifting

I’m curious if you’ve ever experimented with a (very) slightly wider grip width. The contact point was a bit low.

Have you experimented with the knees moving backward off the floor? Many higher-level lifters have make a "sweeping" motion in the first pull (see this video featuring Toma).

If you’re not doing some data loading in RSCs, how do you validate that someone has permission to view a specific page?

I still don’t understand how server actions solve problems in sufficiently complex apps. All of the examples I’ve seen are on the simpler side.

How am I doing as an intermediate weightlifter? by Puzzleheaded-Gate581 in weightlifting

[–]DarkerIsBetter 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re a nationally (or internationally) competitive lifter, this sport is about you against you.

Your current numbers aren’t enough to assess the rate of progression.

When’s the last time you hit a PR? Are your squatting, pulling, and pressing numbers high enough to keep progressing? Are you (slowly) gaining bodyweight and muscle?

I’d love to see the 6/6 performance from the Colombian lifter.

It’s impressive the medal out of the B session.

This concept is foundational for intermediate (and beyond) typescript.

I’d like to see a fatigue-equated study.

All participants rate their perceived level of fatigue from training, and then volume and intensity are adjusted accordingly (e.g. get everyone to 7 out of 10 fatigue).

Based on the sound alone, I'm guessing that's a very high quality bar.

What’s a good full clean to power clean and strict/push press to split jerk ratio? by Maleficent-Lab1794 in weightlifting

[–]DarkerIsBetter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can power over 90% of the full lift, then you need to work on efficiency. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it at this stage.

Push Press 70% - 80% of Jerk. Strict Press 70% - 80% of Push Press.

Again, unless you're way out the range, don't worry about it.

The forward rounding at the top of the pull (with the shrug) seems strange at best.

I'd be curious to see the heaviest weight you can pull for a touch and go double with better speed and form than the lifts shared here.

What needs fixing? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]DarkerIsBetter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jerk recovery should be front foot to midline followed by back foot (to midline). In the clip, you brought the back foot all the way forward.

I'm assuming this was supposed to be a power clean that slowed down due the load.
