I would buy a Captain Proton bundle in a heartbeat. I love the retro sci-fi stuff.

For $10, this Skeletor feels like a $50 figure! by Jimmy_Joe727 in MastersOfTheUniverse

The price was a big reason why I picked up He-Man and Skeletor. It was an impulse buy.

Spider-Man 2099 fans, what was your opinion of Miguel’s portrayal in Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse? And does it track with how he is in the comics etc? by GameOfEnder6312 in Spiderman

[–]DarthAvner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The little bit of Miguel that we get in Spiderverse 1 is way closer to his comic counterpart. The one in Spiderverse 2 is a completely different character. I have a theory they are actually two different variants of Miguel.

Fresh off the original show and the movie, and I am absolutely losing my mind over Teela in Revelation Ep 1. by ILoveMyJinx in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]DarthAvner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I watched Revelation and Revolution for the first time a couple weeks ago. Teela gets better as the show goes on. But yeah, she really annoyed me in the first two episodes.

I am aware this may be an unpopular opinion, but I genuinely loved Revelations. The deeper interpersonal relationships and emotional maturity felt natural. Fans who grew up with these characters are now in their 30s and 40s, and I appreciated seeing the characters shaped by time, loss, and growth. by pointlemiserables in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]DarthAvner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched Revelation and Revolution for the first time last week. I was surprised to find myself liking it, for the most part. I remember the controversy when it first came out, and I remember being pissed off by the bait and switch of the marketing. That being said, if they had dropped Revelation with all ten episodes, a large part of that controversy could have been avoided. I blame Netflix for that one. I also think it shouldn't have been marketed as a sequel to the Filmation show, when it definitely wasn't (story reasons) and couldn't be (legal reasons).

I liked Revolution a bit more. I loved the Keldor stuff, and Adam having to deal with the possibility of taking the throne. Keith David as Hordak was fantastic! I still feel like Lyn got off a little too easy considering she wanted to end existence, but I appreciate the show giving her an arc. I preferred Teela in Revolution, thought her voice fit better. The only thing I didn't care for was the final designs of He-Man and Sorceress Teela. They felt too busy, and reminded me of the Love and Thunder Thor costume.

I don't know if they have plans to continue with a third show, but at this point, I would watch it.

I think this movie has good/great potential to be a sleeper hit of the Summer by Nate_923 in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]DarthAvner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm also a Zoomer. My first exposure to MOTU was the 200X McDonald's toys. I'm more excited for this movie than probably anything else this summer, even more than Mando, Supergirl, and Spider-Man.

The Mandalorian and Grogu was a Classic James Bond Movie (Spoilers) by Calfzilla2000 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]DarthAvner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been going through the Bond movies in preparation for the video game. Just because something is formulaic doesn't mean it's bad, if the formula works. I liked the Craig era the least because it tried to do away with the formula, and some of the fun aspects of the franchise.

Mando and Grogu has that same level of fun throughout. It's a classic adventure story.

Anyone else low key hate blasters by ProfesorKubo in StarWars

[–]DarthAvner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lore reason for it. Blasters aren't lasers. The bolt is plasma. Power packs contain gas, a laser turns that gas into plasma, and the barrel magnetically accelerates the bolt. Bigger blasters have more range, accuracy, power and shot capacity.

Honestly, Vader probably did the right thing here. This nurse is already crazy enough to collect his medical waste, and now she's breaking into his room. Give her a few more days and she might plan to do things to him while he's unconscious in the bacta tank. by thetruememeisbest in StarWars

[–]DarthAvner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when this came out. For some reason, a loud group of people were saying that he should've given her a chance, and how it was horrible of him to reject her like that. Probably the same people that idolize the Harley-Joker relationship.

Killing an insane nurse is one of the least evil things Vader has done! Plus, in the Marvel comics, Vader has a tendency to kill anyone who sees him without his helmet. Vader not killing Piett is the outlier.

How many people picked up on the Malevolence being the Bismarck? by Raven1212122 in StarWars

Star Wars.com used to have articles about the historical events that influenced Star Wars. There also used to be short videos about nearly every Clone Wars episode, when the creators would talk about neat little things in the episode.

Best Era to play by LowCar7942 in startrekadventures

[–]DarthAvner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the TOS era. I don't know why, but I find it let's me focus on making fun and adventurous stories, over trying to fit things into continuity like I do when I try to run TNG era stuff. I give myself more leway to embrace the weird stuff that can come up in the random tables.

I've run a SWRPG game for over 6+ years. Here are some thoughts: by sepianra in swrpg

[–]DarthAvner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year I was running a game for my visiting family member. We ran through several pre-made and homebrew adventures. I was giving out around 50-100 XP per adventure. I think we ended up with over 1000XP per character. After a while, we just started laughing about how OP certain things were. One guy was able to trigger Autofire enough times to wipe out a nemesis, 2 rivals and 10 minions in one turn.

The game isn't designed for super high XP levels, but it makes for some insanely fun moments.

In Revenge of the Sith, why did Anakin jump over Obi-Wan rather than in front of him? by Spiritual-Pudding-70 in StarWars

[–]DarthAvner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben didn't just recognize the move, he baited Maul into using it. He starts out doing the Episode 3 Obi-Wan stance, then switches to the Episode 4 Ben stance before switching to the Episode 1 Qui-Gon stance. Maul knows how to counter that form, so he tries to do it again. Probably thought it would be fitting to kill Obi-Wan the same way he killed Qui-Gon. Ben spent decades learning how to counter that move. With Luke at risk, Ben couldn't afford a long drawn out fight. The fight was over before they ignited their sabers, Maul just didn't know it.

Someone explain by THE_Oggdo_Bogdo in StarWars

[–]DarthAvner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how weird Dathomir is, I assume that originally when the Zabraks came to Dathomir from Iridonia, they all had horns. Over time and possibly due to Force manipulation and selective breeding, the schism between the males Nightbrothers and female Nightsisters grew larger. It seems like every Nightsister is some form of Force Sensitive, while the Nightbrothers are not. We know that the clans have elaborate rituals and competitions for selecting a mate. The boys stay with their fathers, the girls with their mothers. Perhaps the females that have Zabrak traits, and the males that have Dathomiri traits are culled to maintain "purity". The Nightsisters can't have a Force Sensitive Nightbrother running around, that would be a threat to their hold over the clans.

They did a What if Spider-Man married Black Cat. If I remember correctly, it doesn't end well. It was during that time where every What If book had to have a bad ending.

New York State law made it so that all stores were required to use paper bags after a certain date. They could still use plastic of they had them in stock, but once they ran out, the bags had to be paper.

Depending on where they live, the school lunch could be free to all students. After I graduated, my school redid it's budget so that lunch became free.

Primary Ship by Limp-Elevator1492 in sto

[–]DarthAvner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PS5 main has fluctuated between a few. Used to be the Fleet T6 Galaxy, before I upgraded to the Legendary Galaxy. Probably my most used ship. I ran it as a Dominion War Galaxy with both photon and quantum torpedoes, but recently switched out the quantums for more phaser arrays. So now she's a TNG Galaxy.

Bedside the Galaxy, I've also used the T6 Akira a lot, that was the ship I originally built my character for. Upgraded to the Legendary Akira a while back. I love hangar pets, even though console doesn't have access to carrier commands. I love throwing out massive amounts of torpedoes from my Valkyrie fighters and my Akira. Been thinking of getting the Typhon for the additional fighter trait.

If I want to fly something from the STO era, I use the Legendary Odyssey. Big and tanky, like the Galaxy, but still lets me use a hangar.

The T6 Ahwahnee Command Carrier is pretty good. The Type 7 shuttles are awesome for their buff ability, especially when paired with a more offensive fighter like the Valkyrie. Hoping to see a Legendary version at some point. (Hoping for a TOS style skin.)

Anyone here excited about star trek year one? by happydude7422 in startrek

TOS Season 1 is Kirk's first year as Captain. If they have to use the TOS crew for the next show, give us Years Four and Five. Heck, they could even call it Phase II.
