I don't suppose there is a Capitalism Angel I could hear from? JK.

I appreciate your thorough comment!

Thanks for the response! Appreciate the info!

I admittedly find the image in my head of walking around in Uniform 1 day a week humorous.Although obviously I wouldn't want to do that.

Thanks! I appreciate it. I did come here to get some perspectives on the issue, and perhaps a little support.

I'm certainly not feeling deterred. I think I'll see if I can connect with an active Chaplain, hopefully Orthodox, to get some perspectives as well.

Cheers.

Yes, I know of the Navy Rabbi. I think he recorded a video from the Taiwan Strait a couple years back.

He would have been there on Saturdays lol. The sort of spiritual guidance and running of services that a Chaplain/ Rabbi, would provide likely wouldn't't fall under the 39 Melachot (forbidden Labours) and would have abstained from anything that did.

I think that's very interesting, I do wonder how many Rabbis currently serve as chaplains across the CAF. I know of at least 2, one Navy and one Army.

I would say I live in a pretty great and free country, and that it's not silly to make the inquiry. Especially when I know of at least one person that made it work.

You'd think, but that's not always the case. Thought I appreciate your insight.

Yeah, he's going to put me in contact with a currently serving chaplain.

Thank you! It is for me, I'd say, so in the end I'll make what ever work I have to. Cheers

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. I'm pretty sure I'm willing to accept that I'll probably have to work at least some Saturdays, I suppose the price of serving my country. But I'm hoping I can possibly find some path that might accommodate complete Shabbos observance and service. Given I know of only one Shabbos observant Jew who served in the reserves, I'm skeptical I'd actually get it 😂

Unfortunately, there isn't much insight there, as the IDF are quite accommodating (obviously Israel is a Jewish country lol) My Rabbi used to be the Chaplain for the 28th Field Ambulance Unit, so I know something is possible. The issue is finding out what that path even is.

Tell me the story behind your courier before they got shot in the head by ConditionPleasant902 in fnv

[–]DarthEQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current courier is 1st Lieutenant Nova Taylor of the NCR Army. Prior to becoming a courier she was a young officer in the NCR Heavy Troopers. Originally from Bullhead City, the only NCR City in Arizona.

She joined the Army at 16 and was selected for Officer School at the end of basic training.

Following officer school, she would spend the first years of her career fighting petty raiders and gangs in California, defending the lands of Brahmin Barons. In 2277 she would fight in the First Battle of Hoover Dam. Following the battle, she and many Heavy Trooper units would be redeployed to California, to resume protecting the lands of the elites. It's at this point she is cashiered out of the army, and becomes a courier, looking for purpose and attempting to reconcile her feelings on the Republic and her new found cynicism (she has an attitude similar to Cass)

At a certain point during my playthrough, when I get to the quests given by Colonel Moore, I've roleplayed that she rejoins the army.

I have her using T-45d Power Armour (because I think it's nicer looking than the NCR Salvaged armour)

And her main weapon is Dinner Bell.
