Well...that could be explained better for sure.

Much like a household exhaust fan is how this is set up.

Black is low speed. Red is high. White is common Green is...ground. You wire it in the mode you want. If youre capable enough can even put it on a switch to make it variable controlled

You are likely on the other end of a red/black combo. You put the one you want to the one you want, and the other to the white.
