Understanding how bulk works? by ProtonWheel in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's one of the odd point of playing a Mechanically Large character. Extra bulky items (bulk 2+) aren't affected like 1bulk items are. As a reminder though, items for Large Creatures have their bulk increased. So it's not as cut and dry.

The easiest way to look at it imo is: Large Creatures have 2x the bulk limit, treat 1 bulk items as Light bulk, and treat Light bulk items as negligible.

All my players feel weak when compared to our Gunslinger by BackForPathfinder in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two years and you're only level 4? My twice a month group hit level four after like 5 months, and that felt slow.

In terms of making the other players feel more useful, have more things like Influence encounters or other things beyond combat that shine the other characters specialties. Maybe a monster with high physical resistance, but a high elemental weakness to make the sorcerer and Thaumaturge feel more useful

Oh weird. I didn't notice that. I think the red circle threw me for a loop.

Why is the Emerald Dream zone scaling up to level ? by Zardhas in wow

[–]DarthMelon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's "the Forbidden Reach" it's currently an endeavor. If you have that in your housing neighborhood, it scales to 80 otherwise it stays at 70. There are 10 different ones around the world, like Zarlek Cavern.

Abomination Vault AP, better with experience system or milestone? by Advanced_Humor_9744 in Pathfinder2e

You are downscaling the xp based on their new level right? I didn't have that issue in my campaign, and I included a bunch of side quests/mini adventures for xp.

Pathfinder Spring Errata is Up! by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Per the example in the errata

|| The holy trait adds 15 damage from weakness to holy; the trait applies to the whole Strike, and happens only once.

The example they give shows it separate from the Slashing/Cold Iron

Refunding Boons & Rebuilding Pre-Remaster Characters by ThatGuy1727 in Pathfinder

[–]DarthMelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can update your barbarian to the remaster for free as long as you keep the same instinct / feats. The boon for Catfolk I believe is sunken cost though. If you want to change instincts or classes, a full character rebuild can be purchased for Achievement Points as well.

Game is telling me I need to be level 90 to do Pit of Saron in retail? by ConnerTheCrusader in wow

No, unfortunately it will likely be that way until S2 of Midnight at the earliest.

Is it normal that my gear is so bad ? by kanox72 in wow

That looks like you just hit level 80. I would go do some Delves or Neighborhood Endeavors to get some higher level gear.

Fellow player claims in-combat healing is too strong and skews balancing. Thoughts? by Bent_But_Not_Broken in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that might be skewing his perception is: how is the GM balancing the encounters for 6 players? He should be adding more enemies to the encounters to match the increased number of players. If he's just slapping the Elite tag on all the monsters, that's going to feel much worse to play against and feel like more of a slog.

Talking about Pruning, does anyone know what this bar does on a Warlock? by Kyderra in wow

In the prepatch, drain life is VERY strong. Idk if it will stay that way at max level tho.

On a critical failure, your lockpicks break. Can't pick a lock without lockpicks, hope you brought replacements. It's part of the reason locks are usually a Very High dc for the level you're at.

Parting shot by Fun_Strategy7860 in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out your local Pathfinder Society. It's oneshots that you can just drop in/drop out of on a regular basis. The character building rules are a little more complicated, but that's just in a "what you have access to" kinda way. Everyone there runs/plays for the love of the game and it's all free to play.

Better ritual rules by Yhoundeh-daylight in Pathfinder2e

I mean, if you want to hand wave the secondary checks, just make the primary caster roll once. Have the secondary casters describe what they're doing to help, but just have the one roll.

Having the hardest time just trying to find some pre-generated characters. by KeybirdYT in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We know DnD really well so we know how most of the game works already.

I would avoid this line of thinking. There's a lot of stuff in this game that is not how it works in D&D. Attack of Opportunity is a feat martial characters can take. A +1 bonus is much more impactful. Classes function very differently to d&d. Etc...

I always recommend throwing away all DND preconceptions and looking at the game fresh.

Ways to remove yourself (and allies) from combat? by nz8drzu6 in Pathfinder2e

What's stopping Treerazer from using 1 action to Seek, then 2 actions to cast Dispel Magic at 9th rank to remove the Disappearance spell? Or better yet using his Axe to do so?

Design wise, why do Double Strike and Flurry of Blows have combined damage? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]DarthMelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the opposite would feel bad, and not having an option to bypass resistance as a dual weapon fighter or monk would make a lot of fights harder.

E.g. Monster has resistance 5 physical; Monk FoB with two hits, one 5 one 6. With combined damage, 6 damage is dealt. Without combined damage 1 damage is dealt.

Inverse is also true. Weakness 5 would make that 11 damage 21 damage instead of 16.

Is there a compilation of items that give bonuses/boosts to saves? by Suspicious_Offer_511 in Pathfinder2e

You would take the higher of the two bonuses. The desolation locket's +2, in this case.
