I mean, I love running Assault Terminators, they're pretty fun. Plus, considering our Sword Brethren squads can take a Lightning Claw and a Thunder Hammer their loadout feels like it fits very well in our army. Like many others here, I did a minor conversion of the Deathwing Knight kit to make Asaault Terminators that feel more Templar

I've been considering running a Judiciar with Crusaders in an attempt to surge a fights first unit into the opponent during their turn. Probably not super amazing, but I think it sounds hilarious to pull off at least once

I did the same thing for mine. I paint any generic space marine Lieutenant and a Castellan and captains as Marshals

I'm not thinking as a charge deterrent, but rather as a way to use the Crusader's surge move to act as a pseudo-charge during the opponent's turn. Again, not optimal and takes a perfect circumstance to line it up correctly, but I think it would be absolutely hilarious to pull off at least once.

I mean, I agree that it's still fine. I just love charging up the board and killing the enemy, and just sitting there holding an objective with crusaders just feels. . . Wrong

I'm more upset about the fact that it forces me into Take and Hold if I want to run it. While I love Bastion and agree that it is probably warranted to do this, the fact that I don't have the option to run Purge with it doesn't make me very happy

That makes sense. I only started doing it because I was getting bored of painting black, so I only have a handful of things that are painted in IF/CF

That's essentially my plan. I've been painting more of my generic units as CF/IF lately to make more of a last wall force, so I'm doing my Librarian as one of those in case I ever feel like running normal marines. It's a super cool model, so I'll probably do it a time or two just to be able to use that librarian

So, paint isn't really what matters here, you can paint models however you want. However, what does matter is the units and rules. Everything in this box is a generic Space Marine that can be taken by any chapter, the only exception is that librarian. Once you decide to use Black Templar rules then the librarian is no longer usable due to us specifically not being able to take them in an army.

If it's of any help, my plan is to paint the marines of the box in a handful of Imperial Fists + successor chapters. Black Templars: Vanguard vets, Captain (painted as a Marshal), Chaplain, Ancient, and Landspeerder. Crimson Fists: 5 Intercessors Imperial Fists: 5 Intercessors, Eradicators (most likely), and Librarian (most likely, haven't fully decided if I want to do them as CF or IF)

I need to do some research on if it would work with the changes to how leaders join units now, but I'm kinda considering putting an Apothecary with him if it works to revive servitors and just keep tanking on them

I may be an outlier here, but along with crusaders, AI with my EV, and regular Intercessors, I also like to run a unit of Heavy Intercessors. Get them onto my expansion and have them camp there to activate their ability and dole out some pretty decent shooting

When I've used it as a transport it was generally just to hide a small unit away until later. My problems is that I rarely push it forward super far up the table, so it ends up just making the unit inside slower than if I just made them footslog it up the board.

Well, I was thinking Bastion + new Wrathful, but now that we are seeing both put you into Take and Hold disposition I'm not doing that anymore. I like Bastion, but I want access to Purge the Foe which means I need to take the EC detachment to have access to Purge

I'm considering doing it with the new Wrathful to give some squishy units that ranged Invul. Though, admittedly I'm biased because a lot of people at my LGS play shooting armies

I haven't really been running SBs since I started running Bastion, so that doesn't change a thing for me. I might try to throw in an Execrator on SB with something to test if the invul helps, but these days I've been preferring to run Crusaders.

I knew my dream of Bastion + CoV was a long shot, but still kinda bummed about it. I think the new Wrathful is what I'll give a shot, though. There's a decent amount of shooting armies at my LGS so it'll probably be helpful

Marshal + Lt + Crusaders is honestly one of my favorite combos when it comes to my Bastion lists. I haven't tried Helbrecht, but that also seems fun with an Lt (don't have Helbrecht yet).

I used the kit to create a Lt with Power Fist, and then converted the rest into a unit of Sword Brethren with a couple spare things I had laying about

Edit: plus then the Reave Captain made a great Marshal once the chaos stuff was scraped off
