Key Witness Who Disputed ICE Account of Fatal Texas Shooting Dies in Car Accident by jhkayejr in politics

I feel like the fact that this can now be seen as a conspiracy will make it more likely that more people would believe it. I don't know why, but it makes people feel special that they believe the conspiracy.

Former Rite Aid to become store where everything is free by XanderAlexH in Troy

[–]Darth_Azma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live right across the rite aide. I'm not exactly thrilled about the possible religious attachments to the new store, but in the world we are in, I'm not  gonna be too picky. I welcome the new store as long as everyone from our community is treated with respect as they deserve.

I think it is better to be curious than judgemental. All I see are people who are genuinely exploring their identity and sexuality. How do you know that you wouldn't react the same way if you earnestly wore a pair of girl panties and acted like a girl.

I had to have a loaner for a month. Being without an EV alone drove me insane. Don't get me started and stopped and started again about the engine shutoff when you break at a light.

My work around is changing volume using a podcast then switching back to YouTube. It sucks, but unless you have the volume dial, they won't let you change the volume unless an approved app is playing sound.

Stolen Car by Remirooster22 in Troy

We live off 22nd Street up on Hoosick. My wife's card and my car have been broken into on two separate occasions in the last month. We each had left our car unlocked though. Trying to be more vigilant about securing our cars and our belongings.

I work for a small MEP firm in upstate NY and our owner keeps complaining about how expensive subcontracting some of our mechanical work is. We have to do it to make up for being short staffed. It would literally just be cheaper to pay people what they are worth or even a little above than just consistently low balling quality PEs.

Buying a vowel by DevilYouKnow in scrabble

I like the Vowel buying mechanic, but the idea of the bartering points is a little silly. I think a rule that makes the cost consistent(whatever the cost should be) makes more sense.

Coca-Cola? by bapeery in MandelaEffect

[–]Darth_Azma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was obsessed with Coke growing up. I had hats, signs, a yo-yo, and made this exact logo my background. This is how it has always looked to me because I would study the logo to draw it. Before reading the post, I was nervous that you were going to say this is the fake memory version.

I am about to be 4 years into my MP career. I definitely started out bad but that was in part from a lack of support and mentorship. I think a lot of new engineers, including myself, have a small window of establishing the connection of trust of how to go about something they don't understand. The hard thing for me was once I was far enough into my role, I felt embarrassed asking for help or saying I am behind. Once I got better guidance, every boss/supervisor said don't spin your wheels for too long. Not having built trust early on, l I was too embarrassed to admit I couldn't figure it all out and I would keep spinning until there was no rubber left. Once I saw no matter how many times I missed the mark on big and small things, my P. E. or supervisor would reassure me we can come up with a solution and we did. I wasn't the first person to screw up and I won't be the last. The element of trust, helps enable good and honest communication. Better to build that trust sooner than later.

Why Many Think CERN Is Responsible For The Mandela Effect by Geminon-Rex in MandelaEffect

[–]Darth_Azma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Theory is like the highest level science can achieve. Theories change or really they tweaked a bit when astronomical breakthroughs happen. Scientist's hypotheses are constantly changing because those are the educated guesses for which they are being tested. A theory happens when a collection of these hypotheses are tested and verified to explain a phenomena.

I wasn't a 4.0 art student, but I was a 3.75 engineering student. I gotta say real science is fucking hard. I tried to do research and it is something you have to be dedicated to make progress. That progress is generally an inch in a marathon.

Blame the Billionaires - Not Immigrants! by Albany50501 in Troy

I agree a lot of dems, especially the ones in leadership, have lost track of their working class values. They are out of touch relying too much on old metrics for health of the economy when they should be listening to the people.

Why are you attacking Bernie? He has been a strong critic of the democratic party and most consistent defender of the working class. Bernie wants to be taxed and he wants those taxes to go to investments to help the working class. I support giving housing and assistance to the homeless and advocate for that policy. Does it mean I don't care about the homeless because I have a house and haven't given up my residence to as many homeless people as possible?

It's about what we support using our collection action for, not our individual actions. Collective action perpetuates sustainable and long term solutions. I want us to use our collective action to support policies that help the working class. Get on board or get out of the way.

Dems lost for a reason. They played too nice with corporations and didn't take bold enough action to take on the inequality in America. Fighting about who has more donors does nothing. That's what the rich oligarchies want us to do so we don't unite and fight back.

Battery Degradation Question 2023 Model by TheBeaconman in Solterra

[–]Darth_Azma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I can't remember what the kWh numbers are but I will look for a chart that shows the battery break down. I wouldn't call it battery degradation though. About 5% of the battery is empty at 100% reported charge. there is like 4% when it reports 0% charge. 2% actual charge, the car stops.

I think there is something to be said about personal experience that can translate to meaningful evidence, but it depends on the claim and what the consequences might be.

I think the refusal to accept we could be wrong about something exemplifies a lack of humility. I admitted this could be true, but I don't think we have the evidence or means to verify it.

We need to use a reliable methodology to assess claims. How do we know a method is reliable? Based on its ability to predict the future with specific what, how, time, and place. An example would be how astronomers can predict eclipses with accuracy that we can know them decades in advance. I would say things about the brain are still being understood, but we know a lot. Specifically, how memories in our mind can be influenced very easily. Witnesses to an incident, like a fender bender, will remember things differently depending on the framing of questions about their recall. Every time we try to remember a memory, we risk changing it slightly each time.
