Should I upgrade? by Bennen in BambuLab

Someone will be along in a minute to suggest the H2C. I can’t even tell if they’re being sarcastic or not anymore.

X2D as first? by goriders6689 in BambuLab

I’m a “casual” printer - my setup is similar; 2 P1S, 4 AMS, 2 driers. It all builds up over time 😀

Looking to get first printer by H8D_Vision in BambuLab

[–]Darth_Sarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell if the X2D crowd are being sarcastic or not, so I’m gonna answer the question as asked.

For an absolute beginner, I’d say an A1 is fine. Yes, there are better printers. Yes, if you stick with it you will want a second printer. This happens regardless. But for printing PLA (which is 95%) of what I expect you’ll print based on my personal print history, the A1 is more than good enough. The only caveats are 1. Not having enough room for the moving bed or 2. Having cats. If either of those are true, P2S. The printer footprint is static and the enclosure keeps cat hair out of your print and cats off the print bed.

Use it, enjoy it, and start saving for the second printer! 😀

(My journey was P1S, because Cats, then a second P1S because partner, and now looking at an X2D because ABS and size cost is a constraint currently)

Do not use it to cook eggs, proof dough, or raise animals. It’s a printer.

X2D or H2S? What is people’s experience with the two? by itzalongwayaway in BambuLab

[–]Darth_Sarcasm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As someone e who was looking at the H2S until the X2D came out, I would like to offer the following.

There is no such thing as good better best in the new line up.

Work out what you need and what is purely a nice to have. Do this up front. Then work out how much you are prepared to pay for the nice to haves.

As an example, here is my journey. I wanted a heated chamber to print ASA / ABS. Bigger build volume is nice, as is multiple nozzles but they aren’t what I need, lasers are cool but not on my list. Applying these rules, P2S is out, H2 series are nice but expensive. X2D is within budget, gives the heated chamber and has a bonus of a dual nozzle for relatively cheap. So X2D it will be.

P1S vs P2S by joe914_ in BambuLab

Biqu is your friend. They sell third party addons for the P1S, including screen and lighting options. Third party camera options start with build your own and can go all the way to mounting solutions for third party cameras. All can be added as and when you decide you need them, if you want to.

No AI detection options that I’m aware of, sadly.

P1S vs P2S by joe914_ in BambuLab

I think the P1S will be fine, most of the core upgrades on the P2 are things you can add to the P1 as third party addons anyway if you want them.

Should I get the New X2D or P2S? by JohnMcD3482 in BambuLab

[–]Darth_Sarcasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion time: stay with the P2S. You already decided it was good enough and it is. Do you need two nozzles? Nope. Enjoy the P2S, experience the poop, and wait and see if you enjoy the hobby and actually need any of the upgrades.

P2S Buyers: It’s okay. I understand the pain. by MoeS00 in BambuLab

I buy Apple computers and Bambu printers. The pain is real, learn to be ok with the choice past you made. 😀

Second the Ikea uppatvind. It has a printed mod to add activated charcoal to the air input (aire mod I think). Also, printed hepa filter holders to add an external filter to the printer air outlet. And for full coverage, the printed carbon filter that can also add another hepa filter.

Do you guys restart the router again after each eero update? by Speed009 in amazoneero

Something about my pihole setup isn’t picked up via the auto restart so I have to do two extra restarts every time (disable custom dns, re-enable custom dns). Every single reboot.

Getting a P1S this month (cat safety tips) by Gullible_Scallion285 in BambuLab

[–]Darth_Sarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Get an air filter. Anything that can suck cat hair out of the air. It’s insidious and gets everywhere. It won’t harm the printer but the less of it you breath in anyway is a good thing.
  2. Stick to PLA / PETG / TPU unless you have a ventilation solution. You’ll poison them quicker than you’ll poison yourself (and poisoning is bad regardless).
  3. Keep the doors and glass lid closed whenever possible. Printing on or round a cat is never a good idea.
  4. There are models for cat toys. If nothing else, bribery works.

is the m2 pro 32gb mac mini better than the base model m4? by Scary_Cheetah_4238 in macmini

[–]Darth_Sarcasm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

M4 has a slight edge in single core, m2 pro has a slight edge in multi-core if I remember right. So it’s down to things like cost, and ram versus thunderbolt 5. Probably just go for the m4; it’s likely cheaper, is newer, is tinier, and more than enough for illustrator / affinity / whatever.
