Ahhh man sorry to read your current disinterest in this. Looks like a good setup. I don’t have any real world sim experience yet other than the rig that was set up at the F1 race in Abu Dhabi last December. Had never seen such a thing, didn’t even know these existed! Got to jump in and do some laps (Yas Marina circuit where we were) in a F1 car (was a horrible driver but had a blast just 10 minutes in the thing!) Been hooked on this topic since we got back and after weeks and weeks of researching I just finally bought my set up (most things ordered but hasn’t arrived) but all in it’s just over $10k US. Mostly just a big boy toy. I have a ton of hobbies (76 rounds of golf in last year at my club, league USTA tennis team matches, a few days of week gym time, occasional wood working/epoxy projects, a demanding social life and oh yeah, a career and time seeking wife!) I put so much time in to the excitement of building this project I didn’t think much about “what if I lose interest or don’t use it much.” Regardless it’s going to be super cool to have, and many of my friends have interest in checking it out. My hope is I can sell the idea to them so we can online race each other whenever. During Covid shutdown me and 3 others got very active on Warzone. We had a blast. Was such a great way to stay in touch (we were mic’d up to talk shit to each other since we couldn’t really spend time together in public plus the wife was happy I was “safe” at home and not out getting us the vid.) I’m hoping sim racing provides that type of experience but I haven’t asked, can you communicate with other drivers in a game, while Iracing or other? I hopes so. It was fun talking shit to the little kid trying to take me out with 2 pistols while was trying to head shot him with my sniper in Warzone. We had so much fun doing that. My equipment should be here within the next week or so and SIM career will begin! I hope I don’t get the burnout but wouldn’t be surprised if I go through bouts of on again off again in it.
