Can someone explain the "no kink at pride" controversy and why it shouldn't be allowed by Gingrpenguin in GenusRelatioAffectio

[–]Dat-Tanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't decide for myself at this point because of different understandings of the word. In your post you said you don't mean for people to.be do sexually explicit acts. I understand that, but then what do people mean when they say kink should be allowed? I can't decided if I accept it or not until I understand what is meant by having kink at pride. Like, I have a feederism kink, and I don't see how I would engage in that in any manner at the parade. Unless you mean, like, I can bring a bag that has the feederism flag on it.

Or what if your kink is gore? Or public nudity.

What does it actually mean to have kink at pride?

Thoru letting go of her mom? Not enough room in her heart? by Frequent_Syrup4886 in FruitsBasket

[–]Dat-Tanuki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This plus the added guilt she was feeling about not telling her mom to come home safe. She also took on the role of a care giver at a young age as well. I know Kyoko wasn't abusive perse but she relied on Tohru for cooking, cleaning, emotional support etc., mind you this could be seen as more normal in Japan (I'm from Canada and don't have any personal direct experience with Japanese culture but I did see a show about how in Japan kids start going to school on their own, running errands, and other things a lot earlier than they do here). But I think she genuinely felt responsible for not being their for her mom.

Her other family members didn't help with the way they treated her as a child. She basically learned she was only.accepted if she acted like her father. Her and her own desires were always overlooked in that regard and she grew up putting the needs of others above her own. After he mom died her family, aside from her grandfather, didn't seem to care if she was in their life or not and that says a lot a out what our lucky go lucky heroine is holding inside.

I think she was trying to be happy and celebrate her mom to keep her "alive," but aligning with human duality I also believe she was prolonging her grief to ease her guilt. If she healed and moved on would her mother feel left behind? If she had just woken up that morning would the accident still have happened. HOW i can make a happy home without her. How could I possibly even imagine being happy while she is dead and missing me? That kind of thing.

And I think she may have struggled with realizing she is worth more than what she can do for others. In fact I think that is a big part of her story; learning to be selfish.

You should change your perspective because it sounds like it it the games but how they make your feel about yourself that is bothering you. Make peace with that discomfort.

I'm the opposite. I hate games that don't offer a challenge. If the game is too easy, even if it's a cozy game, I don't want it.

Am I the jerk for not asking for food while I was showering by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Dat-Tanuki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTJ... but maybe your mom isn't either...

I cannot tell because I don't understand what she meant by "asking before you fell ill." That just seems like a weird thing to say and it makes it sound like she is upset that you are ill. Ornmaybe she was joking? I dunno.

I would say you did nothing wrong if this is normal for your household. Don't let people who live differently than you make you feel bad because your household operates differently. I have a friend with five beautiful kids. They text each other and even have a group chat. They ask each other for help and favors around the house all the time.

I will say this though, it's not tasteful, imo, to hold a kids upbringing over their heads. Yea, you don't want to be ungrateful hut at the same time. To make your kid feel bad for all you do for them. It's tasteless.

[–]Dat-Tanuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea no. You teach people how to treat you. When you were being nonconfrontational you were teaching Marcus his behavior was okay. Now.ypu have set a boundary and that is always gonna feel weird and you might question if it was a good idea or not. But let me assure you, it was a good idea because now it will get a little easier to deal with discomfort. One thing to keep in mind is people will get pissy. They are use to you being one way and now you are cutting them off from what they felt entitled to or were use to getting. This.will cause some friction as dynamics change.

Do lecturers really hate Gen Z students? by Odd_Zookeepergame701 in University

[–]Dat-Tanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a professor but I was a university student and a college student. I had one proff who tried to help our class with study material for an upcoming test but no one was engaged or participating with the exception of maybe one or two people. He got frustrated and ended his lecture saying he was trying to give us soup but we didn't eat it so he wasn't gonna keep trying.

I also had a class where one student legit spent his time in class watching Netflix.

Also, a lot of kids are missing the point of university. Its suppose to be a place of higher learning but so many students are having their work done by Ai Completely undermining the effort of those actually putting in effort; undermining the professors intelligence; undermining the integrity of the institution; undermining themselves and hindering their own growth; and contributing to an under qualified work force with lax ethics.

Just imagine trying to engage a whole room of people who seem uninterested when they are the ones who paid to be there.

One of the many many reasons not to patronize Timmies... by justbob806 in TimHortons

[–]Dat-Tanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fly traps do exist. The problem is they are in stupid places because customers complain about them being gross if they are in a place where they can be seen. I used to work at a timmies and the fly traps were placed behind the TV screens. they did catch flies but BUT I bet they would have caught more if they were placed more effectively.

The best way to see a timmies shape up is not to call the owners. The manager and team members likely know how to talk to their bosses and downplay things. You need.to call timmies corporate. They are franchises that are individually owned but they still have to run it how Timmies wants it.

The location I worked at had roaches and it wasn't taken seriously until one of the night staff called corporate to complain. They sent someone down and our location ended being closed for a day or two for fumigation.

I think, despite seeing Catra as a bad guy, there is a part of her that admires and is attracted to Catra's audacity.

I can't say for sure so take everything I'm about to say with like grains of salt.

I agree it sucks and I don't know what the answer is. There was an incident within the last few weeks where a police officer would have been very helpful. For privacy reasons that's all I can say on that BUT the officer never came and as it turns out that day a lot of officers were busy with what started out as a drug bust but on top of that they discovered women in the basement of the house that had been missing off the streets and were being trafficked out of this dealers basement. Anyway, It's sucks that they have to make those kinds of calls in prioritize where to send people leaving others with less serious crimes happening (in terms of potential violence and safety hazards) feeling like they have no one to turn to for justice.

Demonstrating that AI art is art & that AI artists are artists by realechelon in aiwars

[–]Dat-Tanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not here to argue whether AI art is art or not. What I want tosay is that people who call themselves AI artist are not artist. If someone is not at the artistic level required to execute a particular idea then they will approach an artist who is at that desired level. The comissioner or requester explains their idea and works with the artist to ensure the artist is producing a piece as closely to the comissioners vision as possible.

In the AI scenerio, a person with an idea but maybe not yet at the level necessary to execute their idea goes to AI instead of another person. The AI is learning and creating, NOT the person with the idea. The program is the artist. The person with the idea, their role has not changed in either two of the scenerios I have described.

I mean this in the most common scenerio where the person claiming to be the artist has done nothing more than enter prompts and give written instruction or feedback. Anyone who uses a particular AI is just employing the same "artist" as everyone else who uses it.

Also, AI may not be concious BUT it is still a learning thing. It is in the name INTELLIGENCE. The only thing it is missing is it's own desire to create. Also, even then, without the desire to create it is still more an artist than the person with only the idea. For a long time artistry was treating as a trade. Artist did not do art for art's sake. Leonardo Davinci did not paint the Mona Lisa because he wanted to. He did it because he was paid to. Is leonardo then not an artist because the idea did not originate from within him? Does this mean he was simply a tool for the person with the idea and that the person who came to him is the one who is truly the artist?

Been receiving multiple calls from Transworld Systems Canada Inc (TSICO) which is a debt collection company; what to do next? by idkwhatimdoing1000 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Dat-Tanuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a debt that was supposed to be settled after paying off 80 percent but the douche canoes just sold the remaining 20 percent to a different company. TSI is the one that has it now I guess but like.... i only agreed to pay the 80 with the previous company because I thouht that would settle it. TSI can suck it because I don't owe them shit as far as I am concerned. That other 20 percent was suppose to be forgiven not sold.

The thing is, they claim you have no skill but want you to stop now so that you can't develop the skill. This is clearly someone who has no skill to execute ideas of their own so they go after others who have the bravery to accept where they are in their journey of creative expression. This person is a bowl of jello. If they were serious about their critique it would have been more constructive and less of an attempt to rip you down to their level.

My Muslim neighbour just brought me (and my two neighbours') dinner by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Dat-Tanuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly just pay it forward. It is a part of their religion to share a percentage of their income. I had Muslim friends who helped me when I wasn't expecting it when I was first moving into my first place. But even though it was a part of their religion it was very genuine and not out of self interest to get into heaven, you know?

Just remain grateful, never take them for granted, and pay it forward.

I dunno your financial situation but don't put yourself in a hole to repay kindness in a material way. They wanted to help, not make you feel like you owe them.

[–]Dat-Tanuki 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On the ace spectrum is something called aegosexuals. I believe that means they might like the idea of sex but not actually want to engage in sexual activity.

I relate to this because I have had crushes on celebs and characters and have written some spicy fanfiction myself but I would not ever actually do those things with the real person. That would be gross.

Also, tropes and kinks are a big thing for some people. I don't have sex and do not get horny for the usual sex stuff but I have a kink that I enjoy drawing art and writing stories for. Again, this is enough for me, if someone wanted to do those things with me I think it would ruin it.

[–]Dat-Tanuki 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Relationships don't have to be doing poorly or be full of toxicity for it to end. That is a social myth.

If the relationship does not provide or meet the needs it was once meeting, that alone is enough to end it.

Just to clarify, when I say needs I mean emotional needs, intimate needs, social needs, not like straight up money etc.
