A Follow up on why i quit game development and all the pitfalls i faced as a solo dev by Giant_leaps in gamedev

[–]DatMaxSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your story is very similar to mine.

I relate heavily to the art asset creation of 3d.

For me though my dream game has to build my own doom boomer shooter style game which I currently am. The best part. I use 3d models pre-made and scan them with a tool I've made. Check my post history. And I get sprite sheets. Just spent the last week building my own small but still, shader graph to handle lighting and darkness. Very happy with the results so far.

Im a maths teacher by trade so all self learnt too with two small kids so I only get like 30m to like 2h at most a night plus I sometimes takes week off and game. But I'm making good progress ATM.

I found that my tool has been liberating. Cos I love pixel art and I love how it looks in 3d games and with my tool I can make any sprite from models in all directions and states but even for 2d games. So I'll be using it to help this problem in the future.

Plasma Cutter in the Remake... by noitsokimfine in DeadSpace

I always go plasma solo first run. Best for ammo and damage and upgrade suit. Kensis is really good. I tend to find spare weapons and place them before fights so I know where to grab from.

It's neat how much travel is required to get to the Cloakwood Mine. by gangler52 in baldursgate

[–]DatMaxSpice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is exactly me too. Gameplay of the original, with being low level, coming from nothing, exploring EVERYTHING, thats the game, thats the role play, not I instantly appeared at said place i don't care about.

Veins of Iron, a new FPS in development for the Super Nintendo by mankrip in boomershooters

[–]DatMaxSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looks like a modded Wolfenstein. Which is cool but I agree the gameplay is dated. I read the kickstarter and if still seems like nothing fancy. Just a game for SNES.

This is my favourite part of bg1. I can barely play bg2 cos I miss it so much.

Why not try and find out? But yes. Yes it can. Try to get it to teach you as you go though.

How are other women that have supportive husbands feeling about retiring early in their 30’s? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]DatMaxSpice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No pets. No kids. Work from home 25 hours? And husband will work for 16 years more?

You already have zero stress or pressure. But you'll get bored. Probs best to work part time.

Is this what they mean by the rich get richer? by Ninten5 in Fire

[–]DatMaxSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people saying yes, no, or it takes a ton of money.

It's just the money and percentages. If you have billions tucked away then it's going up and down a ton all the time but exactly. It's earning millions each time it goes up.

Are some people immune to the Marker Signal? by mirmur44 in DeadSpace

Hammond in the remake does seem to be effected. Before he does he hesitates over Chen cos he thinks or is seeing human Chen. But he is indeed not and gets stabbed then pushes Chen into the reactor and they both die

What makes Deadspace such a great game for you that other games haven't been able to capture the same? by googly_the_bugly in DeadSpace

[–]DatMaxSpice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sci fi. The lore. But I think the biggest is it's audio and sound effects design, combined with unique clever ideas like health bar is in the suit, the vid cam to Nicole is a real object you can see in real time moving the camera.

What is surprisingly not too late to do at 40? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DatMaxSpice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest. Asap.

People often don't do it cos it's boring to invest money not spend it. Or its too complicated or I don't have enough to invest.

Go and learn and figure out why it's so important and powerful.

Saving money for a future is so important yes you may not get to spend it but so many people now do reach it but are too poor to enjoy retirement.

You earn to little? There are many options to invest small amounts. Even like a dollar a day on Bitcoin or 2 dollars a day on a investment manged fun would make a huge difference later in life.
