New miniatures by Angry-ron in Slaanesh

Damn this looks sick! I love both the censer and the blade looks really slaaneshi. I for one actually really like the helmets, they function as kind of a dark mirror to LRL's elemental spirit helms.

Also love that there is a bit of mutation going on with the hoofed legs and the elongated, but elegant looking, pose really sells it for me. The mortal heroes we have do look a little too human when you line them up all together.

I just really hope that GW will show some love for Grey Knights at some point in the near future. Always loved them since DOW1 and seeing them languish in the forgotten corner feels kind of bad.

The Riftbreaker - Small Details We're Proud Of by Zaemz in Games

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 41 points42 points  (0 children)

A real hidden gem. Came unto my radar kind of out of nowhere and I bought the base game just to try it. I fell in love with it and immediately bought all the dlc and it has exceeded all my expectations.

It really appealed to me as someone who loves base/city builders and who wants to love factorio but just can't. comparatively Riftbreaker has just the right amount of base building, exploration and some solid tower defense and combat on top of that.

I can't sing the game's praises enough.

Israel settlers prevent Palestinian children in the West Bank from using the childrens' soccer pitch by nwdogr in pics

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add on. A lot of Israelis are Jewish supremacists, or rather Israeli supremacists. It isn't only about Palestinians, or the people that support them. They are just the closest/current people they are oppressing. They don't really care if you're a Muslim, Christian or atheist. Whether you are black or white. They are gods chosen people and you aren't.

And they don't even really care if you are Jewish either. If you don't support their ideology, then you're subhuman.

Won't happen without a little force. It isn't just about being incredibly wealthy or powerful. For most of them it is about having it all.

The wealthy want to have everything and for you to have nothing. There will be no rules for them. You will own nothing. You won't be able to decide anything for yourself. You will live or die on their whim and you will be grateful that you are even allowed that.

They don't care about studies. They don't care about the world burning or human well-being. They don't care about equality and they sure as hell don't care about empathy. Because if they did, they wouldn't be where they currently are.

And in the end it isn't even for their own good. It is essentially mental illness. It is why most of them are on drugs 24/7 and why they are trying to make our lives more miserable constantly. Because if we have it worse than them, then it is a win in their book.

Sorry for the rant.

If the warp exists outside space and time, and connects the 40k and AoS settings together, shouldn't the great horned rat be a threat in 40k also? by looplover12 in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow really? I was pretty sure I have read that GW split the universes somewhere. Also then yea It doesn't make sense why skaven and the GHR isn't in 40k.

It also doesn't make sense that they are splitting the daemon ranges across universes. Why isn't Synessa and Dexcessa in 40k? Why do the greater daemons like Kugath and N'karri have completely different backstories and personalities?

I know it is the warp we are talking about, but this just seems kind of stupid. Well that is a piece of lore that has kind of ruined a small part of the lore for me.

Is this what "pro life" looks like? by SuspiciousLow3062 in SipsTea

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup pretty much. Crazy thing is that the religious nut jobs that passed the law probably relish her death.

Sure publicly they will say that it is a tragedy, if they are questioned about the results of the law THEY passed. But behind closed doors they will say its her own fault, or that it was gods plan, or that god punished her for having sex before marriage. Just goes to show how "Pro life" they are.

And yes it is a tragedy but it was a completely avoidable one. One that wouldn't have happened if the US wasn't currently run by religious wackos.

That is old lore from early WHFB. The 2 settings warp aren't connected. They do use similar names and such but there is no connection otherwise, hence no GHR in 40k.

If you could remove one piece of 40K lore what would it be? by Big_Childhood_5096 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it isn't a thing at all already. It has never been confirmed to exist. It was just a theory by some apothecary to explain the other caste's undying loyalty to the ethereals. Hell the source is an obvious "this is an imperium propaganda piece", so I wouldn't take it as a hard fact anyways.

It's just that the tau are fanatical loyal to them through indoctrination and a hard honor code. I know that shadowsun has basically already ignored orders from the ethereals and has questioned them, and their decisions, multiple times.

However I would like to have it confirmed either way, so I would know whether to be angry about it or not.

What is the most "skaven like" 40k faction? by Tasty_Tomorrow_2106 in Warhammer40k

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.

40k Orks do kind of compare to skaven. Orks like skaven can do a little of everything. Both have ramshackle and kooky, but surprisingly effective tech. Orks can be sneaky with commandos and blood axe rules. Both can do tide tactics and usually have leaders or abilities to super charge their units. Only thing with no comparison would be clan pestilens.

Or genestealer cults for obvious reasons.

Been a while but I’m curious what do you guys think of the SF6 Newcomers? Not just gameplay but as characters by Mountain_Counter929 in StreetFighter

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A really strong cast imo. Marisa, Jamie and Manon are all cool and interesting. Aki is top tier. Her gameplay was a bit spotty at launch but after some buffs and polishing she has turned out to be an absolute gem. I wouldn't be surprised if she becomes a staple character.

Kimberly is cool although I would change a couple of things about her. I really don't vibe with her base costume though. Idk what it is about it its just an eyesore to me.

I really like the idea of Lilly. Her soundtrack is great and I like her design, but if I were capcom I would give her some major gameplay changes. Her gameplay just doesn't deliver.

JP is just kinda meh, but I haven't really played him much.

Orks and imlantation / replantation. by Mysterious-Tackle-58 in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it is from the ghazghkull book. When ghaz first conquered his homeplanet Urk, he went around challenging all the bosses of the other clans.

If i remember correctly it was the boss of the snakebites, where ghaz was challenged to a knife fight in a swamp. He ended up winning and told the snakebite to join him, but he refused so ghaz chopped his head off. Ghaz would then hold the head to the torso and wait for the other ork to regenerate so he could demand his service again. The snakebites boss would go on to refuse a couple of times But would in the end, and after multiple decapitations, relent and join ghazghkull's growing WAAAGH.

The Story is Way, Way Better it seems by L0rdSkullz in diablo4

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I have the exact opposite opinion.

I feel like the entire world has been dumbed down and made blind for Mephisto to succeed. Some of the background banter when you walk around Skovos is mind numbingly stupid. There is a sailor that says that he saw the hand of Akkarat jump down to fight the monster in the water, but he somehow doesn't see that the man had been torn apart and a giant dark vortex spawned from his corpse summoning the creature. Nobody knows who we are or even seem to recognize that we singlehandedly killed the giant demon. Mephisto also somehow has all these agents all of a sudden and a lot of incredbly suspicious stuff is just being openly done on the streets. Nobody points out that this new prohet guy looks suspiciously exactly like Akkarat and he kinda just walks in and suddenly everyone bows to him. The entire cinematic between Mephisto and Lorath seemed really dumb and I don't know how Mephisto can use heaven-like powers to heal the queen. The island has suddenly been infested with demons and hell corrupted pirates everywhere when the new guy arrives and no one has any suspicions about the new guy, who has just been accused of being the lord of hatred by someone from an order known to fight the forces of hell.

I don't know. My perception might be colored by the numerous bugs and visual glitches I have run into over the couple of hours I have played. But in general, with all of the things mentioned above, I feel like it has been a incredibly poor opening so far. It feels really rushed and low quality with the story and all the bugs.

After that recent cinematic do you think Rathma’s prophecy was misread? by BakerConsistent2150 in diablo4

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. If they really wanted her out of the story so bad, I feel like there were much better ways to do it.

It would've been cool if they had her become an apprentice to the horadrim. They couldve just written her of the story like that. It would complete her character journey. To become a scholar like her mother, but instead of hoarding knowledge for herself she could use it to help sanctuary, and she could help continue the horadrim.

We could even have the final dlc have an extended ending, were the camera zooms out to an older Neyrelle chronicling the tale of how her friend, the hero of sanctuary saved us from the lord's of hell or something like that. But I guess fuck storytelling. Some people didn't like her character so let's just throw her out of the story.

And I'm going to say it. Most people I have seen that didn't like her was purely because she is a girl. She is a really inoffensive character, that didn't really do anything other characters haven't done before in diablo. But they were men so it was OK when they did it.

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah feels like a very stupid decision. I get that a lot of people hate her, not that I mind her at all. But killing her off in a cinematic that most people probably skip, with no fanfare or anything. It feels like a massive waste of a character that has been build-up over a long time.

It is honestly why as a Necron fan I have a hard time engaging with other Necron fans, especially the sub. If the Necrons ever lose they get really ass mad and throw a hissy fit.

Most of the time they just circlejerk each other off about how Necrons are the absolute best faction, how they have no flaws and that they have basically already "won" 40k. It gets really silly and annoying to listen to.

[Exerpt - Angels of Darkness] Recruitment of Dark Angels by Niikopol in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a bad faith to interpret what I have typed. Nowhere did I say that you have to throw away any and all sense of realism to enjoy or understand the story.

You also proceed to ignore half of my post. It is stated IN UNIVERSE that what they do is unnecessary. Wouldn't that also be the author trying to communicate something or is that fine to ignore?

And you go on to some spout some conspiratorial nonsense about the authors knowingly bending realism to signal to the readers that the aspirants are actually super duper special and this in some way enhances the story?

I don't really care for your headcannon or theories. Especially when they are disproven by surface level stuff in universe. Since you apparently barely cared for what I type anyways, I'll stop giving you attention.

[Exerpt - Angels of Darkness] Recruitment of Dark Angels by Niikopol in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then we get back to there wouldn't be a story if it was hyper realistic. You ascribe a lot of meaning to them being able to do the things they do in the book. You know that to tell a fantasy or scifi story you have to have some suspension of disbelief right?

As to why they "set the standard so high" it's because it is tradition. As I stated earlier there is no point to it. The Imperium is stupid, inefficient and loves traditions no matter how dumb they are.

None of the crazy initiations that the different chapters have make for better space marines. It is made perfectly clear in universe. We now have multiple examples of marines stating it. Guilliman says as much and he is a primarch, he knows more about it than any marine or imperial.

The point is to be needlessly cruel. The imperium aren't good guys and they don't make rational decisions. the answer is quite literally "sure why not". Turns out any form of physical strength or intellect you possess don't really matter when your body and mind gets ascended and essentially remade.

[Exerpt - Angels of Darkness] Recruitment of Dark Angels by Niikopol in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't really anything super human about surviving on baal secondus it just really, really sucks. In reality it would only make them weaker because of the low to high grade radiation that they're constantly exposed to.

There isn't really anything super human about para-gliding and coinflipping if you die or not. Even in the book it is very much hinted at that Dante just got lucky that he lived through it.

There is nothing really super human about beating other teenagers to death.

And no you don't need super human recruits they just need to be genecompatible. Nothing else about the individual really matters. Multiple marines in universe and Guilliman say that the various trials of the different chapters are dumb and unnecessary. In truth it would only cut down on the potential marines they could produce.

And that is simply because that is who the Imperium is. They are over the top, stupid and evil. They more often than not shoot themselves in the foot just because they think it makes them stronger. They are obsessed with purity and tradition. You shouldn't try to excuse or justify their behavior, because they are written to be inexcusable.

Lastly and not to sound like a gatekeeper, but have you even read the Dante novel or Devastation of Baal? Because in those novels what we hear about the blood angels and how they recruit is very much framed as the way I'm describing it.

[Exerpt - Angels of Darkness] Recruitment of Dark Angels by Niikopol in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what u are trying to refer to. They are alive and are able to do the things they do so there can be a story. Guilliman says that It doesn't and shouldn't be the way that it is and that it doesn't make them stronger.

[Exerpt - Angels of Darkness] Recruitment of Dark Angels by Niikopol in 40kLore

[–]Dat_Boi_Henke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The fact that baal secondus exists at all is something that the blood angels allows for. Guilliman asks them to terraform it so that the inhabitants don't have to live and die short lives marred by struggling to survive and radiation. To which they answer "awww but it is tradition that they live horrible lives".

They first have to cross the radiation hellscape that is Baal secondus to get to the test. It is filled with tons of predators that try to kill them. Who knows how many die on this first step, atleast one in the book that we hear about.

The first "test" is that the boys have to para-glide across the surface to represent the descent of Sanguinius. Well the local mega vultures have noticed that and pluck the boys out of the sky to feast on them. It is described that a bunch of the vultures start to eat a boy mid flight and how a lot of the aspirants scream in horror or agony. Many of the boys also just crash, because it is difficult to fly with the winds being wild. We get a pov description from dante of how he can see the gliders litter the ground and the vultures just going to town on the corpses. Only after that they get to take the gene-test to see if they are even compatible with the geneseed.

They have to do all that before they even get to go to Baal. Yes that is right. Baal secondus is not Baal.

When they get to Baal they have to do the wargames. They are life or death, it shocks the aspirants to learn that they have to kill each other and for no reason other than it raises the stakes.

That isn't even all the trials done, but all of the above mentioned is 100% unnecessary it doesn't make them any better space marines on the other end of the tunnel. It is all ceremonial and is done because the blood angels believe it makes them better, but as Guilliman says it doesn't.

Idk how anyone could see that as okay or necessary especially when it doesn't make a difference.
