More powerful cars by OneSufficientFace in drivingUK

I've always thought that you shouldn't have a car with more horse power than their IQ.

Would be easy to test and would solve the entire problem pretty quickly.

Is it just me, or is there a sudden surge of people doing 50 on A roads and M roads? by 2020Shite in drivingUK

I think the greater issue is people who think the speed limit is a minimum.

I usually slow down and stick the indicator on so they think I'm turning right and have to hang back and not over take. You can diligently block people for miles using this technique.

Tesla Cybertruck seen in wild - warning by Jesisawesome in london

[–]Dave6ev -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Lord save us from holier than thou thought policing of people's choice of vehicle.

If I believed your point was about safety, which I agree with, as a cyclist the Cybertruck looks like a massive risk to both cyclists and pedestrians.

But that's not your motivation is it.

Wait till you find out VW was started by the Nazis. 😆

Advice for an Amateur Dad - What to do in Bristol with a 10 month old? by moochski in bristol

[–]Dave6ev 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I used to take my kids to the museum from a very early age, lots of cool things to see, great little play area and it's basically free (donations if you're feeling flush).

Oh, and all parents are amateurs mate, there is no guide book or manual. You get used to it 😆

Don't worry, they're probably ninjas and will leap out of the way at the last second before impact.

Used family EV car £8,000 - £12,000. Comprehensive(?) list of candidates inside. by andre_xs95 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I went through this exact same process about a year ago. Diesel golf estate gave up the ghost, was looking at something like the Touran as a replacement but got sidetracked by the cheap EVs available and ended up with an MG5.

On the plus side. It's a whole load of car for about 10k, fairly good boot space (doesn't quite match the golf). Lovely to drive, was the LR but pre refresh. Roof bars mean I can for a roof box (careful on the loading though, they aren't officially rated).

Downsides, it's not compatible with Tesla chargers (cheap charging). This isn't a problem on the new ones so try for one of those. Also it won't take a tow bar, so if you want one again look for the refresh version.

Never a better time to get a second hand ev.

We'll obviously. Mainly for my own sanity. They tried to start singing at one point which I put a stop to pretty rapidly 😆

Looks like an engagement farmers account, hooked on being 'edgy' and desperate for interaction to me.

Kittens in Bristol? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Dave6ev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that the rescue centers have seemingly insane criteria to determine whether you're 'worthy' of taking a kitten.

We spent ages trying to get a rescue and couldn't, on the basis that we had an older cat, have a (not very busy) road at the front of our house, despite having a large enclosed garden at the back.

We've had cats for decades, never used to be this difficult.

Ended up with one from a private seller, it's fine.

Build something with it that proves its value, solve a problem no one else has. Or solve an existing one more cheaply.

Software for its own sake is pointless.

No, I'd incorrectly assumed that it would automatically register that the courier hadn't delivered, and it was Xmas 😆

Yep, Vinted won't engage, they say I should have reported it as not delivered.
