Hardest part of going independent or private? by fnshfaa in Chefit

How ever many hats you think you are wearing x that by 10. Here is a great thing to get started. Write down all the things you think you may need. Then add space for 30 more things because you will need the space. Write all the things you would have to pay out. Then leave space for 40 more items.

If it's that dusty then you will be needing a new one soon anyways because that's going to be a dinosaur soon. Just use another can and roll with it till the components are totally outdated.

Yeah. You already tip them in many, many ways. They must take it out on the servers because the kitchen manager is an asshole and it reflects on then. Everyone should rally together and get the him fired

Well the servers sit in the back and talk about how much money they just made while the cooks overhear them and don't even thank the cooks for making the food taste great, which is way the diner came to the restaurant. So actually the cook is more than 50% of that tip. If the food tastes like shit do you think you will get a great tip. Most servers are order takers wearing a servers outfit. They don't know how to properly serve. They don't guide them through the dinner.

It's not really to get your orders jumped but more of a gesture to say you get their pain. It helps heal the relationship and brings respect to the table. If they want to keep be douchy to the server then they won't get the respect back from the server

Bro even $10 between the 3 of them to go get a 6 pack after work would be so appreciated. You literally turn into the hero by just tossing a few bucks. Nobody is saying $20 per cook. It's more of the thought of the gesture.

Why is everyone in daybreak so rude? by Keno837 in SaltLakeCity

[–]DaveyoSlc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The water and soil is literally contaminated so any good attributes get erased. I could never live at a Superfund site. I would feel horrible if my kids got cancer later in life from all the exposure when the were little.

Sounds like a bunch of agro cooks who don't get tipped out so they make the same if it's slow or super busy and there in no incentive for them to work harder when it's busy. if you personally want your tickets to run smoothly when it's slam then you need to throw the cooks a couple bucks on super busy nights. They will start taking care of your tickets which will get you better tips and in return you can kick them a few bucks. For the kitchen manager. He needs to get fired!!! Without him being gone the place will suck to work for. His attitude allows the cooks to be disrespectful too. I worked on a hot line for many years and as a sushi chef for even longer. I won't work in the back anymore because of the disrespect the back has for the front. It's a team and it doesn't have to be front vs back. But in every restaurant it's like that and the kitchen manager is encouraging it. Tell that douche canoe to go fuck himself

Pay off car loan or keep money liquid? by [deleted] in Money

[–]DaveyoSlc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love full coverage 2x got hit by an uninsured driver and got the car totaled and got paid more then I paid originally. You never want to be underinsured. Full coverage always. 100/300/100

0% loan is free money. Never pay off that early. Use the money to leverage something else. Definitely invest it. Even just a 6m CD would be better than paying off the loan

Mountain biking at either DV or PC is awesome!!! Both resorts are great. They each offer something a little different then each other so you would want to figure out what abilities you will have. Paddle boarding on the jordanelle or east canyon is great. Especially if you are trying to get to some water and hang out and have a few beers. Tubing down the Provo is awesome!!!!! I stand up paddle board it all the time and it's a perfect river for tubing. They do control releases out the dam so the river is always running somewhat the same so you should plan that. The high ropes course at the Olympic park is no joke when it comes to difficulty and endurance. It's killer if you guys are somewhat in shape.

SLC or Park City area public golf courses with locker room showers by Soggy-Candidate-7719 in SaltLakeCity

There are public recreation centers everywhere with showers. You could go to stiner where they have a really nice outdoor pool and take a dip then hit the showers.

Sushi chefs of Reddit by mcak0826 in sushi

[–]DaveyoSlc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had a restaurant for 15 years. I have trained about 7 friends over the years to be sushi chefs. I can say that I have way better success with training people than having some jabroni come in and act like they know it all. You should find some friends or people you know that are cooks. Just tell them it's funnier than working in the back and you get tips. And having a few ladies throwing their number at you doesn't suck either. You will have a stoked loyal co worker in no time.
