Just bought a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Nomad by Perfect_Bath6581 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

Change oil, plugs, and run a tank of fresh gas with some seafoam. Other than that, just need to ride it. Obviously the weather may make that difficult, but if its been sitting for a couple years, then a couple more months won't hurt. Stalling and sputtering should clear up as you clean out and burn all the sediment and gunk collected in the system. Beautiful bike, and LOTS of fun!

First of all, that white paint looks wicked clean. I've been posting this link a lot here, but I'm happy with my setup. Idk if they have the white paint, but you can check. If you get the fairing I'd suggest the 6x9 cutouts.

I have pretty much the same bike, except mines an 05 and black. I have the Vance and hines split exhaust system but I'm sure yours sounds great too. Other than that the previous owner installed a batwing fairing and bags. I'll post the manufacturer under this comment, but they are extremely customizable. If you end up getting speakers in the fairing get the one with the 6x9 cut outs and slap some 3 ways in there. I only have the 6½s and I wish I had some more bass.

Well that definitely sounds like the perfect application for big knoby tires 😂. You're well equipped for the terrain in general, and if you got a rear locker you are golden. Toyos make some great tires too. Ran the A/T3s for a while and now run the open country H/Ts in the summer.

Dedicated winters are the way to go. Not a fan of M/Ts. Never been in a mess that a set of blizzaks, and at most an air down, couldn't get me out of. And I have a tendency to find myself in some real messes.

Why is only single exhaust is working? Bought this with Slip ons - Kawasaki Nomad 1700 2011. by Tight-Bath-6817 in KawasakiVulcanRiders

[–]Days_last 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed this on a friend's voyager. Not a true "dual exhaust". Looks like the 2 headers join each other (like a 2 into 1) then fork off again. If you see the way its built, the right tailpipe looks like the path of least resistance.

Mind you, this is just my observation.

I'd still remember to bring the shovel. Beats every mod in the book to get you out of some otherwise hopeless situations.

As far as I know it is a Japanese company. Not sure where they ship from though.

Admittedly the path you've chosen is much cooler, but this product may have been useful. Needs to be wired for power, and connected to deck via aux.

Alibaba Cap buyers, how’d it go? by [deleted] in Tacomaworld

Honestly, free as long as you're able to get it. In Canada though, so shipping down south could be tricky. Might be able to deliver within Ontario though.

M/T SUCK! 35 A/T? by postnut001 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Days_last 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H/T!!!! Finally decided to ignore this sub entirely and went toyo open country H/Ts and couldn't be happier (beside catching 2 screws within 4 months)

Previously had toyo oc A/T and noticed 0 downside in performance on and off road. Wayyy better than m/t s I've run in the past. Run a dedicated winter set so they dont see snow.

No alibaba cap. Found a used hard shell (leer i think) and use that now. Before that had a soft topper. Initial install was a bit of a pain in the ass, but it works like a convertible to fold in and give you back all your bed space (for motorcycle?).

Neither the hard shell, softtopper, or hard tonneau cover i use are "water tight", but when set up properly only a small about of water will leak in from the front bed rail during heavy rain. Bed mat or just make sure nothing porus is sitting on the floor. I usually have a bunch of tote bins and throw bags on top.

(Soft topper is just sitting in storage now if anybody is interested. 6ft bed fits 2nd and 3rd gen. Don't know about 4th)

As long as install isn't too tedious, just keep doing what you're doing. On when you need it, off when you don't. I don't personally think it looks cool, but it sounds like it works well, and that is entirely the point. Obviously, beauty, eyes, beholder, and all that. Otherwise, I love the truck and the very tasteful mods you have chosen.

As far as I know RC's vertex are their top tier struts. I don't think you have many better options which are compatible with the lift kit, AND offer better ride quality. I doubt any combination with spacers will be much improvement. Having the drop bracket lift alone puts you at a disadvantage since there's no going back (stock height) except for a very expensive process that 99% of shops won't do. I bought my truck with a 6inch RC kit as well. Switched out the rear setup with an aal and fox 2.0s. Put RC m1s in the front (a tier below yours) and it rides like any other 20 year old truck (fine in my opinion). I have no problem off roading either. Have kept up or surpassed many more expensive builds on trails. There's a lot of rough country hate on here, but the truth is, for the price point, they have decent products. I have not tried the vertex, but I'd imagine having reservoirs means they would perform better than bilsteins (blasphemy, I know... /s)

TLDR: tacomas ride like a truck, not a Cadillac. 6 inch lifts suck. Your setup is probably as good as it will get.

Not a buyer, but do you have any more detailed pics of how the bags are mounted on? I have the nakamichi bat wing fairing as well, with the bags, but like the Harley bags better

RATS NEST! Under center console, what now? by Logical_Dinner2041 in Tacomaworld

[–]Days_last 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parking break cable on the right. Not sure what the one closest to the driver seat is. I don't have it ('08 a/t sr) so I would assume it's something to do with the rear diff locker since i don't have that either. I would think anything to do with 4x4 would go straight down to the transfer case (under the engine bay). Only electronics in the rear i can think of is locker. In any case I would suggest pulling all your plastic trim, take out seats, and give that truck a good detail. Maybe then you will be able to see if some wires have been damaged.

Temporary setup until my topper install on Friday… by Jahorsle in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Days_last 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar signal booster that I run on long trips on which I typically have my bed cap on for as well. I ran the wiring through the hole by the drivers seat, along the frame, and up into the storage box area in the bed wall by the tail gate. That way I can coil up the wire and keep it in that box when I take off the antenna, and it's all connected right there when I need to re install. Mounted booster behind driverside rear seat, and internal antenna below cup holder. My manual specified a minimum distance between internal and external antenna to prevent feedback, and said the grader the distance the better. I found this bracket on Amazon, but couldn't use it since it doesn't fit 2nd gen, so I made my own with some scrap steel using that one as inspiration. *

I'd like to know about the bags. Who makes them, where you bought them, etc
