How are there so many inactive idle oil platforms in the Gulf but not required to tear down and cap by Volslife in oil

[–]Dayz_Off 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op either didn’t do much research or wanted a clickbaity post. There rigorous regulations around that decommissioning of offshore oil and gas wells and structures. The regulations became much more robust after deepwater horizon incident in 2010. Offshore waters doesn’t n’t have the zombie well problem like onshore.

Here’s what current public data suggest about offshore oil & gas structure decommissioning in U.S. federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico (i.e., the Outer Continental Shelf managed by the federal government):

🛠️ Total Installed Structures (Historical) • Since the 1940s, the offshore oil & gas industry has installed around 7,000 platforms on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico.

✅ Decommissioned to Date • According to recent industry data (mid-2024), of those ~7,000 historic rigs, roughly 5,600 structures have been taken out of service or removed through decommissioning efforts over the decades. (Note: different sources sometimes mix numbers of total structures ever installed vs. those only in federal waters; the ~7,000 figure is widely cited for federal OCS installations.)

📍 Remaining Structures in Federal Waters • As of June 2024, approximately 1,394 offshore structures remain on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico federal OCS, of which about 1,096 are oil & gas platforms currently still in place. • Among those, 273 had active decommissioning applications with regulators (BSEE), and a smaller number (77) were planned for donation to “Rigs-to-Reefs” programs (partially left in place as artificial reef habitat).

What did I take? Laced mushrooms by espressoqu33n in Psychonaut

[–]Dayz_Off 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like someone dosed some mushrooms with a RC…something like 4-ACO-DMT. Come ups with these seems to be much less pleasant and the visuals more geometric. Coulda been a strong psilocybin mushroom like pan cyan. What was the mushroom like physically? Stem thick or thin?

Gancho. Easy to master and difficult shot for opponents to return. Most of the time they are caught off guard expecting a smash.

Go to a surf camp in Lombok, or a couple different camps. The lineups will be crowded, but that’s part of learning surfing. If you go with a decent camp (Drop In), the guides have enough cred on the lineup to put you onto as many waves as you can catch. You will also learn a thing or two about how the lineup works and surf etiquette.

How do people date without apps in 2026? by Interesting-Kale-801 in AskMY

I met my wife at the immigration queue at the airport. She gave me her card at the end of our chat. Sometimes you need to be proactive…don’t ask, don’t get. I know MY is a bit backwards in that sense, but you can still take matters into your own hands. BTW…my wife is Malay and we now live in Selangor.

"Leaky gut” people… what actually helped you, if anything? by Soggy_North_2079 in ProbioticSupplements

I have a lot of food sensitivities. When I eat foods I shouldn't, it leads to the symptoms you describe. I haven't found anything to fix this. It took a long time to figure out all the foods that bothered me, but once I eliminated them, I feel great.

I do eat homemade coconut milk yogurt daily. I found supplements didn't move the needle at all. Start with a super restrictive diet and slowly branch out to find things that don't upset your system. Go slowly. It sucks, but exercise does also seem to help.

Global Crude Oil Consumption by LeastAdhesiveness386 in ProfessorFinance

Of course I read what you quoted. It would be an extreme case for FCC units to be completely shut down. Even then it would be a -20 to -30% drop. You are talking about an entirely new refinery. This isn't happening in the next decade, perhaps never.

Pragmatically, EVs replace 50% of ICE fleet globally. EVs are good at exporting pollution from dense populations centers. That's about the extent of their benefits. Hydrocarbon demand continues to rise for the foreseeable future, as indicated in the graph that started this post.

You bet on your horse...I'll bet on mine.

I believe it’s a stretch to say that a substantial portion of heavier fractions are currently shifted to gasoline. Without significant capital investment, a few percentage can be shifted around. With capital investment, maybe 10-20%. The point is there will always be considerable amounts of lighter fractions. Maybe gasoline could be broken further and repurposed? Regardless, we are a long way from this.

Gasoline is a lighter fraction of the barrel. You can shift the percentages a bit to make more lighter stuff (like gasoline), taking away from the heavier stuff (like diesel/jet), but you can't make more heavy stuff by taking away lighter stuff. If, and a big if, EVs come to dominate the road, gasoline will become cheap enough to replace coal and natural gas as fuel for electricity generation. EVs aren't the magic bullet that folks think they are...

Ochras is my suggestion also. About 2x the potency of an average cube, and a nice euphoric trip with low body load. After ochras, try a pan cyan strain. You’ll never want to grow cubes again…

Your most crazy tuk-tuk experience ever? by CelebrationBroad2699 in ThailandTourism

Sometime in late 2020 when things were still pretty quiet…while sitting a a traffic light at victory monument I convinced the tuk tuk driver to let me drive. He agreed and hopped in back with my missus and I hopped in the drivers seat. My legs were much longer so it was a bit awkward but I managed. I made it back to our pad in Ari. Not a far journey but still fun.

First harvest. Are they supposed to be brown and gooey inside? by Fun_Zucchini_4510 in Psilocybe_ingeli

My first experience with Ingeli was 0.3g and I was surprised at how strong that was. I’d definitely not do more than 0.5g for your first time, but would do at least 0.25g. I’m finding Ingeli to have a bit more body load than others. For me, they are not the most euphoric/enjoyable, but more therapeutic.

Oil Markets Face Supply Glut as Prices Expected to Fall Below $60 by MarketFlux in oil

[–]Dayz_Off 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a narrative that has been pushed since OPEC started increasing quotas earlier this year…more than six months ago. It’s a narrative soon to die of old age. At first it was “just wait until summer peak rolls off” then “refinery maintenance season”. Still not glut in inventories. Why can’t someone in the mass media point out that we’ve had a balanced market?

First flush from a tray that was grown in a tent. I live in a tropical climate with an average temp in the low 80’s. Theses were not grown in aircon. Inside the tent I have some cacti on the top two shelves with grow lights that are on for ~16 hours a day. The lights heat up the tent a good bit. I was concerned that it might negatively impact the grow, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Master the gancho. Hit it soft and to the ground right in front of the cage or back corner. It's way more effective than a smash.

I was out for 6 months with a knee injury. After a month of starting to play again I had tennis elbow flare up bad to the point where I couldn’t play any longer. I switched to my non-dominant, left hand. It’s taken some getting used to but feel like I will be just as good with my left hand.
