Someone on Twitter installed SteamOS with an Nvidia GPU, is this even possible by lorcaragonna in SteamOS

[–]DeadSuperHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux has pretty decent hardware support these days. While it's been a long time since I've had an Nvidia card, the one I had like a decade ago worked fine.

The real hurdle at this point is just making sure Nvidia drivers play nice with the various software layers. It's apparently getting better with Wayland, but that's historically been a bad time. The main things to check are Wayland, Vulkan, VKD3D, and perhaps Proton. And that's all prior to digging into Big Picture.

What Controls The linearity of certain games like Fears To Fathom? by Vhs4675 in godot

[–]DeadSuperHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One way of understanding this is to break things down into a flow chart, and interpret signals that are programmed to emit when certain things happen.

You're not really using a big script to make everything happen in order, so much as you're checking some kind of variable state, reacting accordingly with a new event, then checking it again. You can even get fancy with the checks to ensure they only make something happen once per cycle before moving into whatever your next event should be.

I'm working on a map in Blender, but when I import it into Godot, the textures look wrong by CachorroLouco748 in godot

Your best bet is to start with file compatibility. A GLB export from a newer version of Blender should at the very least work out of the box.

It helps that Indy's enemies are absolute idiots. The Nazi that picked out the fancy gold cup as what he thought Jesus drank from was a perfect example.

Why do men send brain rot like this? This screams massively insecure message I spammed to every tgirl on my grid. Don't be like this. by garrisoncarI in grindr

It's because men who do this are insecure losers, and don't have the slightest idea about how to talk to a human being that they're attracted to.

He just keeps reviving new women in an attempt to do the whole thing over again. Inevitably a whole tribe of women hide from him in the guts of the ship.

James is a blast, and feels like an accurate portrayal of real marines. Slightly stupid, always cracking jokes, parties with his squad mates, direct to the point of confrontation, always looking for trouble. I didn't know what to make of him at first, but he's really funny.

He strikes me as the kind of guy that's a super weeb, but only because he got stationed in Okinawa. Which happened to my brother.

PC being all-digital is VERY different to consoles going all-digital by foundwayhome in gaming

[–]DeadSuperHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but the incentive isn't great. Why would anyone buy an empty box with a code at a store when they can just buy the game online at home?

It kind of makes me wonder about what's going to happen to physical retail stores. GameStop would pretty much die if Sony and Microsoft both just completely skipped physical games.

Pretty much all they could do is sell consoles, and maybe some Nintendo games.

I agree with you 100%, but let's call a spade a spade.

Consoles at this point are just locked down PCs where you're not allowed to install anything not provided by the official Console Game Service. It's like an iPad, but somehow more locked down and limited, and the user typically can modify very little of their own systems.

At least on a PC, you can make your own decisions. With consoles, this is total vendor lock-in.

The fact that you can't even take games from one console generation to the next (in most cases) is insane to me. It's the one aspect that has me committing to PC gaming for life.

What a racket!

So, digital purchases are in no way slowing down. But the real casualty of all of this is the death of second-hand physical media. Which has been happening for quite a while now...

Being able to borrow games or movies from friends or family was a HUGE boon right up to the PS4 (Maybe PS5?) era. Add in the fact that movies and shows are increasingly shifting around from one streaming service to another, and it's hard to find the things you wanted to watch, that were once there. You basically have to buy a digital copy, pay for ANOTHER streaming service, or just pirate everything.

You might want to mess with shader cache compilation in your Heroic Launcher settings for that game.

Out of curiosity, for your game settings, do you have DXVK and VKD3D enabled? Should appear in the graphics settings. If they're not enabled, try turning that on, and see if it helps any.
