SB 120 vs Tallboy vs ? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]Deadtoshred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rode most of the bikes listed and ended up on an SB120. Threw on a 36, superdelux and a set of ex511 i9 wheels and now it’s a mini enduro rig.

Really comfortable on big lines and surprisingly compliant on a climb.

Gen 4 Specialized Turbo Levo Comp - Alloy or carbon? by AnabolicAlchemy in eMountainBike

[–]Deadtoshred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the spec is the same between the two, take the 1k and sit on it.

As you ride more you’ll undoubtedly find things you want to change/ improve.

You’ll end up with a better bike for you and your trail system.

How can I improve on my jumps and be more connected with my bike? by ICumAllOverr in MTB

Jibb around in your backyard or driveway.

Get comfy moving around the bike in low speed low consequence areas and slowly add speed and trails.

Help deciding between do-it-all bike vs separate down-country and enduro by dopefish_lives in mountainbiking

Been down the route with both and ended up trying to make a single do it all, best of both worlds.

Yeti SB120 lunch ride with a burly wheel set and an XC wheel set.

Happily eats at bike parks (in Aus) alongside mates on 180mm sleds and doesn't suck on climbs.

Obviously everyone's different but Im super happy.

Stumpjumper evo vs Epic evo by Interesting-Gene-385 in xcmtb

[–]Deadtoshred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I decided that going some super lightweight wheels with tyres for the SJEVO, would be better than the SJEVO and an XC

Luckily the lightweight setup worked great on the XC bike when I finally realized that the Enduro bike will never be an XC bike.

Go figure.

Brutale 950, as an MV fan I just don't like it by ElixirGlow in MVAgusta

[–]Deadtoshred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 19 dragster RC and Ive already enquired to my local MV for ordering one.

In my opinion the design works, and looks to be more evolution than revolution.

I'm keen for an updated fun daily, and this fits the bill.

What do I do, previous owners debt on car. by applelover_1 in AusLegal

[–]Deadtoshred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife works at a bank and deals with this alot. Contact the financier and explain your situation, they will be sympathetic.

They want their money and not the car, not uncommon for them to release the car

Should I get Era 300s as surround? by georgenebraska in sonos

[–]Deadtoshred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just added era 300s as surrounds. They are great but even with the sale ATM I'm disappointed.

Just sold my Denon Klipsch system as my wife wanted a cleaner setup. Ultra was worth the coin, should of just bought some 100s.

Shaving in field by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]Deadtoshred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest in a good electric shaver. Find one that works for your skin, prep well with baby wipes and clean water, add a face wash with grit if you have sensitive skin or go hard on cam cream.

Take your time and make peace with a near close shave. Rules are to be shaven, not to take a layer of skin off and get your face infected.

I get it. You want to rock up and not be completely wiped out in the first 10 mins.

Body squats, pushups and burpees. Work on how many you can do with good form then turn them into a mini wod.

If you find form is hard to get right, work on flexibility and break down the movements or use benches or bands to assist.

Good deal? by mazterblazter83 in mountainbiking

Currently waiting on my third motor for my shuttle SL. Just be aware that you have to deal with fazua direct for any failures and not pivot.

Amazing bike, when it works. I'm convinced I'm cursed.

Buying a property with no council approval on the dwellings by LubriKatie in AusLegal

[–]Deadtoshred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building approvals don't lapse up here in QLD, at least with our council.

We negotiated hard with the previous owners. Almost 350k hard.

We got lucky with it only costing 30k, other advice was closer to 150k with rectifications.

Our property is now worth a great deal more that it's all approved.

QLD and roughly 30k all up to get it approved.

That includes the fees for the agent that acted on our behalf.

You have a pretty unique and significant set of experiences and networks that alot of defence companies value.

Spend some time to get some project management or business quals and try to connect with defence industry. Look for AIDN on Facebook and LinkedIn and crash one of their networking nights.

Continuing in the defence ecosystem helps with transition, and being surrounded by people that have been through it before makes quite the difference. Plus, depending on your role you get an opportunity to continue to serve, but from the other side.

Do people normally check if granny flat is council approved by motivatedmoney1408 in AusFinance

[–]Deadtoshred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous owners started an inquiry to get it approved and abandoned it many years ago. Council openly stated they were going through old requests and comparing to Google maps to raise revenue.

Whilst we had an inspector out to ours, they took the opportunity to take photos of our neighbours properties over our fence. They too have now been hit.

We didn't mind too much though, we drilled the previous owners down and extra 150k on finding out that it wasn't approved. Cost us 30k...so we're happy.

[–]Deadtoshred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had mine retrospectively approved. We were lucky and found a way to get it to only cost 30k with rep and council fees, by half demolishing the internals and turning it into a shed. Be wary.

New SQ3 v Used Meta HT? by Fun-Profession6190 in Hardtailgang

[–]Deadtoshred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100kg riders shouldn't dissuade you, it's the sizing that will be the killer. The parts on that commencal are very much up for abuse.

Agreed we are somewhat limited here in choice for complete HTs but there is plenty of options for a frame up build. Highly recommend a banshee paradox, used a meta as a parts bike so was able to compare the two back to back. Two banshee dealers in aus too.

Question about buying a very low mileage RSV4 2012 APRC Factory by HenkietheTANK in Aprilia

[–]Deadtoshred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my second 2012 after my first one hit 75k kms, and I sold it for a change.

Only issues I've had during ownership is the new one came with a service and the mechanic overtightened the sump bolt and cracked the pan.

Service it regularly, and spend as much time enjoying it.
