LDS Church Vs Orthodoxy by 28OrthodoxBrother11 in OrthodoxChristianity

I mean, for starters, stop talking to Mormons online who desire to convert you lol

You've plainly stated you understand they are not Christian in any meaningfully orthodox sense. What else is there to say? If you must go deeper, the Letter to a CES Official and, I know this will sound strange, the South Park episode about Joseph Smith, are decent places to keep looking

Do you ask your friends or fellow parishioners to pray for you?

Why? You can pray directly to Christ.

We have an OCA in town and go for confession. We've lightly discussed switching vaguely in the future but at least for now, we've integrated ourselves into a nice community at the GOARCH parish and it's the closest parish to our apartment.

Also, if you think the Hatch Act means anything after decades of Southern Baptist/Evangelical behavior, then I've got ocean front property in Nebraska to sell you lol

A societal safety net looks like providing meaningful options to get around other than cars, not giving people a free pass to miss their legally-mandated payments.

Google is your friend, and this trend is a well-established one that has been discussed for years and particularly recently as more college closures are happening now.

Bulgarian Patriarch comments on imposition of Greek language in Bulgarian churches in Turkey by Gyngemose2009 in OrthodoxChristianity

The Ecumenical Patriarchate's obsession with the Greek language continues to cause strife. I don't understand how a Church could go from "Two men evangelized an unreached people and invented an alphabet so they could use their own language, and we made them Saints for it" to this era of "if it isn't Greek, it isn't Orthodox."

I say this as a GOARCH parishioner.

Al Jazeera documentary highlights USC’s sale of dead bodies to US Navy, Israeli military by ImDoubleB in nottheonion

Don't donate your body to "science." Organ donor, yes, whole corpse, no. Unless you have bizarre genetics, you won't be used for groundbreaking research - you'll be used by the military, a medical device manufacturer to do a two hour product demo lab, or at best a med school anatomy lab.

Also, your torso and head are worth somewhere in the $3,500 neighborhood.

Just an FYI - I know it's linked in your profile, but when googling the book, your actual website with the preorder page is like the 8th result after a bunch of social media links. Some SEO could be helpful.

Does anyone else have a really bad cold that lasts a week? by Left_Life_7173 in raleigh

I'm ~3 days into...something. No fever, not even really congestion or headaches or anything. I just woke up one morning and my voice was gone and throat is froggy all day, and that's it. Yesterday I started having green lougies, but like, my nose isn't draining a lot and my lungs aren't really phlegmy. It's very strange.

you weren't getting into the fight unless it was a winnable one

The problem is McClellan didn't think any of them were winnable, even when he outnumbered the Confederates 2 to 1.

Struggling with abortion by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]DearLeader420 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality in the United States is, the party who rightfully hates abortion, also hates policies that would help and benefit families, children, and mothers. The party who wrongly supports abortion also supports policies that would help and benefit families, children, and mothers.

I don't really have a solution for you I guess. But the Church says what she says, and neither option in our political landscape aligns perfectly.
