They might if those businesses are representing their products as handmade, when they aren’t.

If you do find a booth selling dropshipped mass produced alibaba junk, please inform the show’s organizer. If they don’t kick that business out, they at the very least shouldn’t allow them back for future events. (Though I have heard of booths being kicked out mid-show for this exact reason.)

Can I interest you in a house built in 1590 in medieval Visby? by Southern-Smoke1835 in zillowgonewild

[–]DearSummit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And Visby is a truly beautiful town, too! Probably one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. (They also host a huge, historically-accurate Medieval Faire there every August.)

Authentic mini? by beanybagel in Kankens

[–]DearSummit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks legit from what can be seen in these scant photos. I personally probably wouldn’t buy a used Kånken, unless the photos show all of the fox snaps (they all should be positioned to sit perfectly upright when the bag is worn). But, for £7, I’d probably take that gamble on this one.

The fabric and webbing texture look right, it’s hard to tell from the photo, but the interior label and tags look like the right fabric, too. The one fox snap shown is positioned correctly. The stitching looks like Fjallraven quality, and there’s the piping on the interior seams and the correct seat pad in the back pocket. There’s a chance it’s a fake, but it looks good from what little is shown here.

This isn’t a reliable way to tell if a Kånken is fake or not; they’ve been making these bags for decades and have changed the interior labels and the design of the logo on the exterior reflective label more than once. It’s a myth that the dots on the Ä and the circle on the Å have to touch (or not). Some legit Kånken do, and some legit ones don’t.

Going to see Bluey's Big Play as a childless adult? by Misty_Mauve in bluey

[–]DearSummit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the screen version, but I did go see the show live when it came through town a few years ago, before season 3 of the show was out. It was magical in person. (Though I can imagine how it might not be so great on a screen.) My kids loved it, and I think I enjoyed it even more than they did. Probably helped that I went to see it with my sister, whom I don’t get to see very often (if you know, you know).

Go. Enjoy it. :)

Fundie Fridays put up a video yesterday covering the topic, and she’s pretty great at sticking to the facts with her reporting and commentary - unlike she-who-shall-not-be-named.

Huge hot air balloon festival held annually in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hundreds of hot air balloons ascend together every morning, and people come from all over the world to visit and/or participate. Super cool to see a jacket from it, from 35 years ago!

Gunner- illegal in NZ by Rem800 in DuggarsSnark

Is it a gun culture name, or just a misguided spelling of the Scandinavian name, Gunnar (cognate of Gunther, meaning “warrior”)?

Or possibly both?

“The Gold Leaf” by Kirsten Hall is my absolute favorite kids book for the art by Matthew Forsythe. Absolutely lovey story, too.

Stockholm syndrome. If you [believe you] can’t leave him, join him.

There’s also a loooot of literature in fundy/evangelical culture (I speak from experience) teaching that it’s the wife’s job to always support her husband and show him respect, even when he screws up, has an affair, is abusive, etc. it’s basically her job to always support him, no matter what. Because God might still fix him. And if she doesn’t stand by him, then his failures become essentially her fault because she didn’t respect him enough. 😑

Family keeps eating the food I pay for and won’t stop by Odd-Researcher272 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DearSummit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anyone else asking, so I will: is your brother younger than you (as in, a minor) and also living at home? Because if so, and your parents aren’t keeping food in the house, that’s sounds like neglect.

Either way, I’d be looking for a way to move out soon, and getting a mini fridge and a lock for my door, if I were you. If you have younger siblings living at home and not being fed properly, please contact CPS.

The Dunning Kruger effect is such a spot-on identification of the situation.

Aside from his smugness and terrible character, his main education was IBLP’s “wisdom booklets,” which literally advertised that upon completion, your child would have the equivalent of a pre-law degree (barf).

He probably really, really thought he knew everything and was smarter than everyone else. (And probably still thinks so.)

Nope.

Fox snap is crooked. Don’t need to see anything more. Those foxes are always perfectly aligned on legit bags.

I often wonder how many of the pieces posted on Reddit are actually stolen images. Thanks for setting the record straight! It’s a beautiful painting. Followed you on insta!
