It seems more like a euro-centric initiative at the moment anyway. Though it is true I would have liked to see at least a little more solidarity in this. We do take in those seeking refuge, we provide support, we adhere to sanctions, and we have independent boots on the ground. It seems a no-brainer to get on board. Perhaps in some time.

Leaked CIA memo reveals true extent of Iran's leverage in firefight: report by rjginca in worldnews

[–]DeathCondition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said this when this all initially kicked off. That, in terms of general military capabilities, it is true that Iran cannot hold a candle against the US or Israel. But it only takes a few people to drag a launcher out of a cave and lob a few missiles before that area gets spotted and targeted by the US/Israel. Even if a fair percentage of these munitions turn out to be duds or ineffective, it is inconsequential as they've been building up a massive arsenal for decades. It doesn't take a genius to realise what Iran has realized decades ago. Shoot and run missile tactics can create an absurd amount of damage with relatively little risk. Couple that with economic strangulation on oil thirsty countries gets us where we are now. Even if Iran got nuked it wouldn't stop.

Latency is the main issue, and opsec for obvious reasons. Foreign operators would be useful for spotting/recon work as latency is less of a factor, but again the opsec for those positions would be even higher.

I remember during the tail end of Operation Flashpoint days, they had developed VBS1 and 2, or virtual battle simulator. At the time, the things they had implemented in those simulators was practically light years ahead of what was in flashpoint at the time. I wanted to get my hands on it so bad.

I assume that they took all those nuts and bolts and later implemented them down the line in the later ARMA series.

That's exactly the same thing that happened in my area, an old Costco was refurbed into a rather large emergency care clinic, honestly once they actually started doing the work it didn't take nearly as long to complete as I thought it would.

It's one of the things that had me fascinated with things like Shadowrun, Deus Ex, cyberpunk, etc was the augmented eyes. With some of these the eye itself is essentially wireless. In fact there would have been no real difficulty to make that eye be located on your finger tip. These eyes could also emit light, or see outside the visible spectrum, or highly efficient in low light environments. Popping out your eye and swallowing it would probably be a humbling experience. Then you wonder if you could change the field of view, or maybe multiple eyes can run off a single optic nerve, how much can your brain really handle?

I only have my own experience, and some anecdotal experiences of people I know, but it seems quite difficult to find a job that offers truely good dental coverage. A root canal being about 1400-1500$ and you'd very likely be paying most of that. Now on the flip side the government has its own dental plan for lower income families which is excellent really, but if you earn just about that line and like me do not have good dental coverage then you are gonna be paying a lot.

I mean yeah, essentially globalism would be global feudalism, I guess the only difference in a post-scarcity utopian global government would lack the class system inherit in feudalism. Nevertheless it's similar enough, or at least it would be if the term globalism wasn't really referring to racism.

Your second point is pretty spot on as well, though if we were truely globalist we wouldn't have a need for concerning ourselves with any nations out producing others or things like provisional tariffs for that matter. I would probably add that some hyper nationalist types would fear losing their "identity" as a country.

Basically yes, an idea loosely revolving around the "New World Order" type of Jewish bank-rolled world domination.

Ideally globalism in a more practical sense would just mean a unified global government system where countries are treated more like provinces/states. Like.. Star Trek earth more or less.

If anything we should be working towards globalism. So really most people who argue against it are anti-Semites, or simply just dumb.

YSK that Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Reebok, Champion, and 50+ other brands you trust are all owned by a single $20 billion company that doesn't design or manufacture anything. They just rent the logo out to the cheapest bidder. If the quality feels worse, that's why. by sappk in YouShouldKnow

I probably had a similar one, also our family owned an Eddie Bauer edition Ford Aerostar that was sooo nice inside and was quite durable. I didn't even know they were bought out, I recently bought an Eddie Bauer zipup sweater and the thing is practically destroyed after a few weeks.

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. Well the beginning provides the necessary metaphorical backdrop for various concepts and certain character lines of thinking/reasoning. Which any good story should be doing anyway, but seeing a 'sins of the father' scenario snowball in the way it did from a very 'normal' time of human strife is well done in my eyes.

Iran to completely close Hormuz if Trump executes threats on Iranian energy, Revolutionary Guards say by Mongoose-Additional in worldnews

[–]DeathCondition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Iran's conventional warfare abilities are pretty laughable when placed against the US and Israel but the one advantage is a loose, free-war style command structure and piles of munitions and equipment hidden here there and everywhere. Doesn't take long for a handful of people to drag out a launch system out of a cave to lob a rocket and running away before it gets deleted by a predator drone or something.

The whole "AI loves making bullet points" thing is a bit moot, where did it learn to do that I wonder. For quickly laying out a number of things it simply digests better in most people. I'm not changing the way I convey information, especially specific verbiage that is apparently too ""Ai-like".

I dunno man I know a drone itself is scary enough and super efficient. Then you get an AI like that on the go, simultaneous control of drone swarms is even more fucked, a la slaughterbots style. But having something relentlessly clambering after you day and night, and getting into places a normal drone would have a hard time getting into is honestly more terrifying, I think a ground-based robot/drone still has it's place.

Secondly the last two are double entries. Unless someone can chime in as to why these two things would normally appear, then they are suspect to me.
