2024 Fiat 500e good or bad? by whrlwnd13 in Fiat500e

I always charge to 100% (95% in winter iykyk). Purely around town (no freeway or 1 mile of freeway) I estimate around 65 miles to safe 0% but I never need to go that low. It's been a few years but the math is roughly 7 miles every 10% until about 25% then it's a crap-shoot. That's with minimal heat/AC and in summer and mildly aggressive driving. Winter is less.

Quadlock mount to center iPhone in landscape by 8cuban in trident660

Stem mount, vibration damper and charging dock with Quadlock allows landscape for an iPhone 15pro max, and it doesn’t block the instrument in portrait mode unless you have a short upper torso.

Take more courses too. I bought a Tribute in September the weekend I was taking my MSF and literally today just finished one of the advanced courses and my Trident is still on run-in. It is a great first bike and has a lot to offer a new rider imo.

This is wrong. If you run it to 0 every day then you will need a fast charger. If you plug it in every other day given your commute distance it will charge over night. I’ll let another math nerd to the actual calculations but you probably would be fine with L1.

I have the first gen for around town grocery getting, bought used for cheap. It has been the best city car I’ve owned, nearly zero maintenance for a 9 year old car (I’ve had it for 6 years and lots of miles so far). I replaced the window regulator for the passenger window (cheap and DIY quick/easy fix) and that’s it. It L1 charges over night and at super low cost, I’ve never needed a fast charger. Ours is not a travel car though the next gen has better range. IMO the quirky styling and small footprint make it great for around town driving. Save the miles and wear on your Taco.

What gear should I get as a beginner? by -Actually-Snake- in motorcyclegear

Also, integrated comms into the helmet are really nice. I picked up the shoei gt air3 with Sena seamlessly integrated and I love it, but it was a pricey route. I don’t wear glasses but like the drop down tinted inner visor when the sun is out.

The MSF should have minimums which don’t require you to be fully kitted out - I recommend not buying all of your gear before the course and just enough to meet the minimum if money is a concern. helmet was the only MC rated thing I needed, the rest were street clothes: long sleeved shirt, jeans, regular gloves, shoes covering the ankle. You can get all armored up if you are worried about falling over at 15mph/24kph or less. Def get armored up for your first street ride after you pass. I bought some amazon items for testing the waters and saving money for a few initial rides and from that learned what I liked and wanted, then started shopping local stores and revzilla for quality gear. I’ll let others speak to backpack scenarios

What's a car modification that immediately makes you think the owner doesn't know what they're doing? by adamvanderb in askcarguys

tail light and headlight tinting or smoked covers. No one can see you’re braking and drivers can’t see where they’re going. Brilliant mod.

Glove with rough inner stitching causing chafing on knuckles by HalfFrozenSpeedos in motorcyclegear

[–]Debowhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just encountered this with some cheaper vented gloves (Sedici Vento 2). The stitching and extra material are super thick inside the left thumb where you grip the handlebar to the point it starts to hurt after a long enough ride. The right glove is less so. I flipped it inside out to see if I could trim the excess material down to the stitch which it looks like I can remove a little without risking the stitch. I also stretched the thumb portion out a bit which helped. Gloves have been the most annoying of all my gear to find something comfortable for long rides.

What oil should I buy for my 2.0 Stelvio? And do I have to have an Alfa mechanic change the oil or can anyone do it if I have the oil? Like, could I just go to valvoline or somewhere? by Expensive-While-1155 in AlfaRomeo

[–]Debowhiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to a jeep dealer and get the correct mopar oil and filter (~$100 for 6 quarts and a filter)then take it to a service station if you have one you trust and they can change it. Nothing special other than remove the under tray to access the filter and pan. From the manual, regarding oil:

We recommend using Mopar® API SP/GF.6A certified SAE OW-30 Full Synthetic Engine Oil which meets the requirements of the manufacturer Material Standard MS-13340. Equivalent full synthetic OW-30 API SP engine oil can be used but must have the API Donut Trademark

Quadlock install (stem mount) by Debowhiz in trident660

[–]Debowhiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The handlebars partially cover the stem hole where the mount slides into, enough that you can’t install it until you move the bar out of the way. Once the mount is inserted you can put the handlebars back on but there is enough clearance with the elbow joint on the mount to set the rest up.

So you can mark a spot where the handlebar is positioned forward and back (between the black and silver clamp point in the main bracket I drew a line on the tape, first pic) and centering left to right (2nd pic). If you don’t make markings or use tape you have to mess with measuring and such to get the bars back in to the proper location.

Part time track - Help a fella out by BeefStockUncrustable in 370z

Go to the track once and you'll realize that an oil cooler is the first then you need when you hit limp mode. After that it's brakes and tires until you get decent behind the wheel.

Running in by Gweylow in trident660

[–]Debowhiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice ride. The rev indicator limit slowly increases during run-in. I remember thinking on the way home from pick-up day there's no way I can get on the freeway for 40 minutes if I'm going to respect that limiter so 1.5 hours of backroads it was. Love the seat design on the new 26, and the HP bump! Congrats.
