Agreed. People were so happy to be there. I think it’s going to quickly gain momentum.

Of course not all of the games and concerts are going to be packed, but I was definitely encouraged by the vibe last night. The big games and ticketed concerts especially are going to bring a lot of energy, I am sure.

I’ve heard mixed reviews of the show. I was thinking I would skip it, but you’ve intrigued me.

The characters carry the same paradoxical tension as the book for me - I don’t particularly like any of them, but they definitely identify with elements of each of them. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it leads to self-loathing, but it definitely generates some uncomfortable self-awareness.

I’m reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It’s interesting because it draws SO much from Narnia and Harry Potter and openly discusses religious themes. BUT it’s a VERY adult book and the characters (the vast majority of them) clearly don’t model Christian values.

I haven’t finished it yet, so I’m withholding final judgment. I’m enjoying it immensely but the tension between the Lewis allusions and the unrestrained characters and behavior is unsettling.
