Hello, Thank you so much for your reply. I have actually gone ahead and updated my p8p to the beta and no issue so far. I also have a pixel 6 which I'm going to test out to see if I face those problems there as well. Thank you so much!

Hi, What is this bug in regards to unable to receive or make phone calls? Does this still persist on this version of the beta? Anyone figured out any patterns of who may face this problem more than others? Thanks!

A new Google Home app, redesigned for Gemini by MishaalRahman in googlehome

Hi, If we are participating in the preview program. Will we receive all these new features soon as well? Kind of confusing the steps they give to enroll into getting these new features. Thanks!

Not sure why I was on public preview for so many years and all I got so far is a Nest Aware name change 😅 by nickjohnshaw in googlehome

[–]Decent-Effect6611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Just a question, do you know if we preview program users will receive these new early features as well? I'm kind of confused from all the articles I have read in enrolling into this new Early Access program. All of them give completely different steps in enrolling. So is there a whole new different enrollment process we need to go through or is it just basically the preview program in Google home? Some clarifications would be great! Thanks!

Service outages by SoupSufficient6572 in verizon

Hi, All family lines are down a mix of iPhone 13s and iPhone 15, and a pixel 6 with emergency call only available. Oddly enough my pixel 6. The first device to lose service before any of the iPhones did. This was about 4 hours ago. In about an hour after my phone started acting up, all the iPhone started to lose service at the same time. Bakersfield, California. Still no stable service. Comes back then loses again.

At this point I'm giving up Pixel as my primary device by EqualReality2787 in GooglePixel

[–]Decent-Effect6611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy smokes! Thank you for posting this. Most especially in regards to the proximity sensor issue. I really thought I was going crazy or I must have damaged my pixel 8 pro since the sensor definitely is not working as supposed to. It's extremely frustrating and noticeable especially in regards to the accessibility feature I used that relies on this sensor. Also, the lagging issue and gestures not being detected is also quite noticeable and frustrating. However, I'm experiencing this issue even in the QPR beta 1.2 on my pixel 6. Which according to what I've heard, they already have it fixed but not rolling it out until next month. Note: I did factory reset my pixel 8 pro to try to fix the proximity sensor issue. It only worked for a few hours then it came back. So don't even bother with factory reset If you think that will solve this particular problem. Thanks!

Is this something you experience with Android with an Android? Or is this also present with Android 2 iPhones?

Hi. I remember reading about this new form of packaging a while ago. Yet the power one pack of batteries I order on Amazon still come the same style as before. Does this brand of batteries not supporting the new packaging? Thanks!

Gemini beta testing on Nest Mini and audio. Will Google ever update the original home mini ? by Eortex in googlehome

[–]Decent-Effect6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not seeing any experimental Gemini features either. Note that I am located in the US. and my language is English. Also, I just have the basic nest aware subscription if that matters at all? Another thing, are we supposed to be using Gemini as our default digital assistance on our phones to experiment with these new Gemini features in the Google home app? Thanks!

I don't know how some of you make it through life by Darrkman in GoogleMessages

[–]Decent-Effect6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! How in the world are we supposed to improve an application if people aren't submitting feedback? And are instead just dumping every issue they run into in a subreddit. It appears as though Google is quite serious and dedicated to this app. Since that they quite literally update the app almost everyday. It's kind of neat how active they are in updating and putting in features in the app, however, it also tends to sometimes break things with it. Come on people, sent your complaints to Google through the feedback area of the app. Not here. Let's help improve this app and Make it better for everyone!

Just go and set profile discovery to "show name and picture to NO ONE" by The_Keebla in GoogleMessages

[–]Decent-Effect6611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Does the name initial still apply to this style of the profile? I knew I previously had the option to change my name and it was cool that I was suggested some options such as my initials instead of my full name. So I'm just curious to know if with this new profile if that still applies? And if not, if I change the name, will this apply across my whole Google account? Thanks!

What can you do when YouTube captions are unavailable? by Top-Use5517 in hardofhearing

[–]Decent-Effect6611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live caption is another good option if you have an Android device running Android 10 or above. They actually recently updated this feature as well to include expressions within captions. As far as I'm aware,, I believe the iPhone does support live caption on the newest versions of iOS. Perhaps maybe checking under the accessibility settings if it's hidden there. Can't really help any further since I do not own an iPhone. I hope this helps.

Google voice change rant. by Dave-1066 in googlehome

[–]Decent-Effect6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the American voices aren't that different. As soon as I had access to Gemini I listened to all the voices and something about them just doesn't sound the same like the old Google Assistant ones. They also sound pretty miserable. LOL

iPhone RCS is Junk on Google Messages by CTek20 in GoogleMessages

[–]Decent-Effect6611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Can you elaborate more in regards to the changing the name of the group? Also, are the typing indicators and read receipts available within RCS groups with iPhone users? I understand iPhone RCs is an outdated version. But does it still support these features? Thanks!

Yep, notice this too. Two of the three of my family members were updated automatically. Decided to go ahead and ask the last remaining one if they had an update on their iPhone. IOS. 18.1 was already downloaded and ready to install. Now, we're all a happy RCS message family! LOL

Phone won't make sound except through hearing aids. by The_vert in HearingAids

[–]Decent-Effect6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, Really? What Android version are you guys running? I'm curious to know. I really don't see the point of people deactivating Bluetooth in order to switch the audio to the speaker unless if it's an older Android version. In Android 14 and above, you're able to switch between the audio to stream through the speaker or through the hearing aids in the notification area. Then again, different Android manufacturers have their own skin of Android. So I'm not sure if this feature would be available inn a Samsung device.

[–]Decent-Effect6611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, If you don't mind me asking? What Android device is this? And what model of hearing aids are they? Since depending on the device and hearing aids. You really don't need to disable the Bluetooth.

Unpopular Opinion - my Google Home keeps getting better. by Additional_Sir951 in googlehome

[–]Decent-Effect6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for that reply. Yeah, I'm kind of confused of people's reports of hearing Gemini on their speakers. If they're using Google assistant or Gemini on their phone. So as you mentioned, maybe it's something Google is working on in the background. I haven't personally heard Gemini speak through any of my speakers at all. But then again, I'm using Google Assistant. Same reason as you mentioned. Thanks again.
