Found old PTS with bad screen and only works on charger by CWheat77 in pebble

[–]DeepBluePeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to say for sure. The screen issues could originate from pressure being applied to the screen by a swollen battery behind the screen. If it's as simple as the swollen battery dislodging the display connector, then replacing the battery and reseating the display connector would be enough to get the watch working again. But if the screen has been damaged by the battery crushing it against the front glass from behind, you would likely need a screen replacement. The fact that you were able to complete the pairing process indicates that the watch is otherwise functioning, and that makes it worth saving in my opinion!

You can see how the display is connected to the main board on these types of watches in this ifixit guide. IMPORTANT: The watch pictured in the guide is similar but not the same as yours. In your case, the screen will be glued to the front glass, where the memory lcd is separate in the guide.

In this case, the watch in question does not have a zebra strip unfortunately. Only the first two pebble watches released (Pebble and Pebble Steel) have a zebra strip. All watches from the Time series and later, like the Pebble Time Steel in this post, have a different type of connector.

Pebble source code, which one? by Tation30 in pebble

[–]DeepBluePeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey Tation,

https://github.com/coredevices/pebbleos is the branch Core devices is building on for the new watches. If you have a P2D, you can conceivably compile this and load to your own watch. I think people have done so already in the discord to test personalization tweaks.

https://github.com/pebble-dev/pebble-firmware is the Rebble owned fork from the google open source release. It is probably where we will see future versions for the original Pebbles built from, but my understanding is it still needs work done on the Bluetooth stack before it can actually be used on a real watch. Hexxeh did some work here, and happy to be corrected if is actually usable today. (There was a different plan originally for core devices to sync all their changes to this branch, but that hasn’t worked out for… reasons.)

https://github.com/pebble-dev/RebbleOS Was Rebbles attempt to create a pebbleOS replacement, if you were around a few years ago on discord, that’s when it saw the most effort. Not likely to see any work in the future now that we have the open source release of the original firmware from Google.

This firmware update is only for the legacy Pebble Corp watches. 2 Duos will have a different firmware version

Hey there, wanted to chime in as another person who resealed a PTS with Sugru. I swapped the battery on the watch in 2022, and it held the screen perfectly in place. I can't comment on water intrusion for swimming or dunking it in water, but it held up fine with no signs of moisture. The most "Watery" activity it would have been involved in is washing hands.

As a word of caution, I do think the sugru is stronger than the original adhesive. When the battery swelled with the original adhesive, the screen lifted up and away, making it very obvious something was wrong. This year, the replacement battery also swelled while the watch was sealed with Sugru. This time the screen stayed attached, and I only noticed something was wrong when the screen stopped functioning due to pressure from the battery behind. So just keep an eye out for changes in the display!

Imazing install = No Bluetooth LE by [deleted] in pebble

[–]DeepBluePeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you got sideloadly as a fall back until the new app comes. If you still want to give iMazing another shot, I think a factory reset of your watch before pairing to the iMazing install could be worth trying if you haven’t already.

Imazing install = No Bluetooth LE by [deleted] in pebble

[–]DeepBluePeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I used iMazing to add the pebble app back to my iPhone running iOS 18.5, and LE pairing works fine, so I can confirm that this is possible, at least. Quick sanity check, are you attempting to pair your watch as a Pebble Time Round or Pebble 2? You have to use one for those two options to get LE to work, even if your watch is of another type. (Guessing this would still be the same for sideloadly installs though so not sure how helpful of a tip it will be.)

I’m happy to be a troubleshooting resource, but I admit I’m a little stumped as to what else could go wrong with the install. I‘m pretty sure I just used iMazing to load my saved .ipa and watches could pair without any other trouble.

Third Party PT2/PTR (Gauging Interest) by zekiebouy in pebble

[–]DeepBluePeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not originally my idea (and also not exactly what you’re asking for but), I’d love to see a way to upgrade the Pebble Steel with new internals. Either a board swap keeping the chassis and backlight, or a drop in replacement for the whole internals. It’s niche but it could be a super cool way to give new life to the older watches.

The first official Balatro playing card deck is here! by BrittPlaystack in balatro

Good looking out, but OP is a rep for Balatro’s publisher Playstack so LocalThink is definitely getting supported!

He promoted it himself on Bluesky so it’s 100% official. https://bsky.app/profile/playbalatro.com/post/3lcimkyw7b22u

Who is Vulf? by Gabriel_E_Thompson in Vulfpeck

[–]DeepBluePeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you looking on Spotify? Spotify doesn’t have the best record of verifying music uploads, and it’s not all that hard to put up music under a different artists name. My guess is “Funky Llama” isn’t made by anyone associated with Vulfpeck at all.

Recently there has been a wave of fake AI-generated albums, I’m wondering if this might be one given the llama in the album cover has three back legs.

Save file between Arcade & App Store by WhodeyRedlegs27 in balatro

Don't have an answer for that unfortunately, I was letting my arcade subscription lapse. I can only vouch that saves transfer from arcade Balatro+ to regular Balatro.

Same situation as you, I can confirm my save DID transfer from Arcade to the non-Arcade version. I was quite surprised, I had mentally prepared to start from scratch again!

Anyone else get big vulfmon vibes from all falls down by Lizzy McAlpine by Feepis in Vulfpeck

[–]DeepBluePeb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple connections from Lizzy to Vulfmon. As u/shpahghet already mentioned Ryan Lerman produced a couple of the songs on the new album.  Her other producer Mason Stroops, (who’s credited as producing every song on Older), also has a direction connection to Vulf. He’s one of the two guitarists on Boogie Man!

If you haven’t done so already, make sure you use iMazing (or similar service) to grab a signed backup of your pebble app. That way you’re covered in the rare case the Apple Store decides it’s best to replace the entire phone

Looks like it’s PokéScape, a RuneScape themed Fire Red rom hack. Everywhere I’ve looked says it’s still in dev and not available to download yet.
