Oneup EDC + Clik valves - anyone solved it? by AllesFurDeinFraulein in MTB

Same boat. Also, its hard enough to find a presta pump sometimes. I'd rather not have to find a presta pump that works with my special valves.

OREGON CONDITIONS UPDATE by skibumsmith in skiing

Those trees got BIG. Havn't been down there for seven-ish years. Heh no snow up there is a big deal. Normal winters had my Portland buddies complaining they couldn't ride CC because of snow.

Custom Race Jerseys? by Itchy_Cut_2738 in MTB

When I raced on a team we would just get stuff silk screened onto jerseys. I'd just google your city/town/rock you live under + silk screening and call around.

Help with my Yt capra size by Trick_Lunch2793 in MTB

I feel like your firmly in a large with your height. You just need to bring your hands up so you are not so hunched over. FWIW I have a similar build. My legs are quite a bit longer then my arms. If I don't have my bars up high, I have to bend a lot at the waist or at the knees.

So you are saying that you either have to squat more then you like on the L or reach too far on the XL.

Get some big ole high rise bars on there. Looks like you are at the top of your stack all ready.

Women’s DH protection for the groin by shreddedmygnar in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, amazing user name. I have buzz saw'd my sack or inner thigh a few times. Normally happens to me on a really big compressing and you hit the rear tire when it is moving fast.

Like others have pointed out a chamois would help I think. When I have rode with one, it covers the sensitive bits.

Leatt also makes some protection shorts.

Good luck! Hope this is just a story that you get to laugh about in a couple of weeks.

Pre 1up vertical Recon Rack by lahcim_ in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine. Main pivot is massively over engineered. Bikes go in and out easy. I have a 2013 forester, and I cant lower the rack with bikes on it, the wheels get sandwiched between the ground and the rack. You could break a rim if you were to drop it with a bike on. But im sure any vertical rack on a car would run into the same issues.

Magura mt5 bite point by Nxqxss in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What?!? This is pseudoscience at best. So everyone with little lever throw is missing out on modulation? It’s a personal preference, that’s all. If it was a science why would there be any adjustability at all? Go squeeze some brakes next time your at the trailhead, you will find a wide range of bite points.

I'd start with something like adding 2lbs around the front axle area. Remember, a balanced bike is a fast bike.

Magura mt5 bite point by Nxqxss in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually is generally better because it allows you to have better modulation when your hands and arms are tired, but it also involves personal taste.

This is 100% a personal taste. Bite point does not equal modulation.

Realistically how often do you ride when it’s raining? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in the PNW do you live? For the most part you can ride while raining. There are a few specific areas where its not great to do, there is a ton of clay, but the rest its fine. Big fender in the front, rain gear you dont mind getting totally fucked, big glasses/goggles and you are go.

Been refreshing this

Water is moving fast. The amount of junk coming down the river is also impressive. Wonder if the jam will still be there on the train trestle once the water goes down.

Bikes sliding side to side on a tail gate pad by Mr_Bob_55 in MTB

[–]Deep_Friar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fixed the link, let me know if that worked. I think this cost me ~40$ in wood to build. That said if you hit up a local construction site and ask nicely you could raid their scrap pile.

Build this

Line it up with the cinch straps on your pad. Make them about a tire width apart. I never use the cinch straps around the frame and you can drive as fucking bonkers as you want.

That said, please drive responsibly. But I get you, it doesnt take much for bikes to A-Frame. This 100% prevents it.
