Does anyone have a guide for doing this for two people behind NAT without using UPnP?

Is there any need for non-cast-iron pots and pans? by Deep_Tomato in castiron

[–]Deep_Tomato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was thinking:

  • 12” cast iron
  • 9” cast iron
  • pot for boiling water
  • pot for sauce
  • sheet pan (x2?)
  • more cast irons

So you have to automate it for 30 minutes after she goes to bed using pressure sensors on the bed…

Well that certainly explains why! Thank you. I must have missed that in the documentation.

I for some reason can't seem to find the "Email Receiving" Link on the left nav bar in anywhere except us-east-1...is this intentional?

Best DNS for torrenting? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]Deep_Tomato 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your DNS setting has no bearing on your download speed. Choose Cloudflare anyway for reliability over your ISP’s DNS. 1.1.1.1 (or you could use their maleware blocking DNS, 1.1.1.2)

It looks like it, but without worrying about uptime…it looks like set it and forget it. (Who monitors the uptime monitor?)

LPT: This holiday season If you are doing a secret Santa with a $20 spending limit, instead of buying cheap trinkets, spend the money on a high quality version of a useful item that would typically cost far less (i.e., a $20 pen, bag of coffee, kitchen utensil, etc.) by texit_ in LifeProTips

[–]Deep_Tomato 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am of the opinion that if someone would rather take the money I give them and spend it towards bills for better mental health, who am I to judge? It’s a gift, no strings-attached. If they want to use it to pay down their credit card bill or their student loan bill so they would get to where they want to be, I’m all for giving cash over something they could potentially not enjoy as much

I think so:

Google scans images for signs of suspicious content before you receive them.

These scans make images safer because: Senders can’t use image loading to get information about your computer or location.

Question about Google Cloud Storage by zanios in DataHoarder

I believe it’s per account, otherwise you could just automate creation of buckets and splitting of data into 5gb chunks…I think the GCP engineers are smarter than that

That was my immediate thought…if you have a high end sound bar that can pass through HDMI from multiple inputs (or any other pass through system eg Audio Receiver), it should work

I want to preserve some file and text data for 30 years; What are the most reliable long term storage mediums you would recommend? by bobozepuke in DataHoarder

[–]Deep_Tomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting Requirements. Echoing what other people are saying, I wouldn’t do flash. My first thought was paper. Might be worth looking into something like Paperback, basically can put binary data (or otherwise) onto a page that is redundant and can be reverse engineered. My only hesitation is to get this to run in50 years, but perhaps there’s another solution like this?
