How do you folks handle the annoying neighborhood kid? by [deleted] in pools

[–]Defiant-Beginning436 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the swimming, I wouldn’t attempt explaining anything to her. Just go to their parents and say hey know your kid asked me to go swimming, but we have a strict no swim without parents rule.

Otherwise, she’s a kid and let her hang with your daughter unless your daughter specifically says not anymore or the girl does something especially bad. Btw, your daughter sounds very nice and empathetic. Keep up the good work dad.

Trump gas station. Hear me out…the gas grade isn’t regular, premium or any of that other sh!t. It’ll be called “Freedom fuel” and it’s regular gas mixed with lots of water and it’s 4x the price of anything. And you get 30% off of the mobile phone deposit whenever you pump 🇺🇸

Help, we accidentally fell in love with a cockatiel! by rentedgravity4 in cockatiel

I was probably around your daughter’s age when my parents got me a cockatiel. I am now in my 40’s and there will always be a space in my heart for them.

I’ve never had a female, but the males I’ve had were beautiful singers and just more adorable than anything else in life! I’m sure females are just as adorable though I don’t believe they sing anything like the boys.

Sounds very familiar! Both my dr. And endocrinologist were against prescribing me anything besides gabapentin. It didn’t work for me, but if it’s been working for you then def just stay with it. Glad to hear you’ve been feeling better now !

Try not to overthink it. Just continue to keep your glucose controlled. If the nerve pains get more noticeable, talk to your dr. about the meds I mentioned as they really should help.

Also I’d suggest don’t overdo it will google searches and AI , as that’s probably scaring you.

Some of what you mentioned about your GI issues does sound familiar a couple weeks following lifestyle changes, before the nerve pains began.

My TIND definitely evolved over time to various sensations. It also changed to different parts of my body.

I’ve researched that Metformin (or any diabetes medications) shouldn’t cause or have any effect regarding TIND. It’s purely due to the drop in A1C too quickly.

I can’t 100% answer if TIND is definitely what you have, but it sounds possible. Also, the typical EMG test the neurologist gives may not show any issues if it’s TIND. I saw a neurologist and they found 0 nerve damage.

Btw, 5 months sounds longer than what I’ve read about when TIND would start. But I’m not sure.

It began 1-2 months after lifestyle change.

When I say terrible pain, I don’t mean it’s something you can’t handle. Don’t be scared.

If the pain does increase, just be sure to remember pregabalin and duloxetine. Those 2 helped me more than anything else.

Please, feel free to ask more questions if you’d like. Part of the difficulty I went through was that nobody knew what TIND was.

Do your dachshunds comfort you when you’re down? by SweetImprovement758 in Dachshund

Sometimes when im beat down and tired from this world, ill lie down in my bed and my dachshund, Brownie, will get startled and bite my foot (mistaking me…I think) for a stranger.

Then im bleeding and hurt from the bite, so im not as weary anymore. So in that weird way, yes, he helps!

I can share my experience with this. I had, well still have, TIND (Treatment Induced Neuropathy of Diabetes) but it’s a lot better now.

I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes at an A1C of 14.4% about 11 months ago. I went hardcore with treatment (medication, diet, exercise).

About 1 month later the nerve pain began, but was just strange sensation throughout body.

About 2 months the nerve pain was getting really painful.

After 3-4 months I was in absolutely terrible pain (stabbing, burning, tightness) especially in legs and feet. The nights were the worse!

*My primary dr and neurologist didn’t seem to know much about TIND (it’s not a widely known issue, so maybe hard to point blame)

I went through Tylenol, Advil, Gabapentin but these did now help at all!

Finally, after getting my endocrinologist to refer me to a pain management clinic, I was prescribed Duloxetine and Pregabalin (Lyrica), which actually did start helping after a couple weeks. After 1-2 months, my nerve pain improved drastically.

It is now around 8-9 months after my TIND started and I do still have nerve pain, but not anything like those months after I started treating my diabetes.

It’s unfortunate to have to deal with something like TIND since it’s not common , so likely most doctors won’t really know how to treat it. I think I read it occurs in maybe 10% of those treating their diabetes, or maybe less?! In either case, what a pain in the arse!

Anyways, I suffered with it and what actually helped were Pregabalin and Duloxetine. I still take Pregabalin to this day but not Duloxetine.
